It's not all bad - if I force my game to use the Proxy Servers when they go live, it'll create a situation simillar to client/server for me - all my PC has to talk to is the Proxy Server, which frees up my upload queue of ACK Packages because they're only coming from a single source instead of 6 seperate sources. Adding around 50ms of latency to my in-game ping to be able to play with 100% of players is fine by me. The reason I'm interested in finding an altern

However, it's not a GUI available option so it has to be coded - which is a pain in the ass. I'm going to look into software options first though, no point building the great wall of china if a wire fence will do ;)
can you tell us what router and modem you have?
I included the Modem details in the OP. I have no router, as my Net PC contains nothing worth protecting and my Work PC is standalone and they are not networked. However, they aren't the only modem with this 'feature' and I believe attempt
Demigod does have a friends list. It's through the Impulse program, so you need to hold down SHIFT+TAB to access it in-game, if I remember rightly.
Will do. I can't find anything to help me, so I'm thinking maybe I'm going to have to learn how to program my modem. I really don't want to, it's very bloody complicated. Anyway, you might have the same problem as me if the first person you connect to, the host, is speedy and then the next person takes longer to connect, the one after that takes even longer, etc. I've also noticed that if I try to connect to someone with the same issue, it's a stalemate - I lef
First, a little background as it may help others. Like a few people here, I bought Demigod on release and have had a series of connection problems. As the patches have come things have improved, however the remaining issue I face now is connecting to other players. The main solution to this is to forward your ports; I've done that. I've checked that my ports are forwarded, open, and ready to use so many time I don't ever want to have to do it again. However, this
Being as the maps themselves are 3D Models as opposed to actual 'Maps' created with a Map Editor like Supreme Commander, the concept is entirely workable. The issue would be advantages for alltitudes, which is probably not coded into the game at all being as all the available maps are currrently 2D. The issue of camera control also comes into play - as I believe the camera works well because the game's maps are 2D, and adding overlapping pieces would remove visibility and possibly make the ca
While it was a little hard to follow, I understood the basic idea - and the pictures certainly helped [e digicons][/e] My only concern with this idea is that it might be too difficult once one side to hold all four flags - as you'd have to be dominating the enemy anyway to capture and hold them successfully which would place the defending team in a position where they really wouldn't be able to make a comeback late game. It's probably a non-issue, but it's something to take int
No problem, glad it helped!
So, before the patch you were able to connect with no problems? I've read a post by a guy who stopped forwarding ports althogether after the most recent patch, and it actually helped him connect. Perhaps it's worth a try here?
I don't expect much out of V 1.01 except bug fixes, tweaks and some sensible UI changes - like an option for numbers displayed on Health and Mana bars permantely. Anything else is a bonus. I'd like to see what we have working perfectly first, though, before more stuff is added in.
Well, I think while in Mist form Erebus shouldn't be regenerating Mana at all. The basic idea of the ability was that you drain mana per second to become invincible and do AoE damage - allowing him to use Mana regeneration items to defeat the cost of the ability completely is most likely outside what was intended.
Banned for having a Halo reference in your Avatar.
And it's also boring to farm the enemy. What's the problem here?
The problem is that why would we even have an End Game section when at a determined point in the game players will just concede and bow out rather than trying to make a come back. I just posted in a thread where a player and his team managed to pull off an incredible late game comeback thanks to their determination - this simply won't occur once this option is in g
Well, we're both right as technically I'm referring to situational reaction time and your referring to stimuli response time. Two different yet simillar concepts with obviously differently results. Nice to have a discussion where the other person didn't result to 'n' word - cheers :) Now, back to the topic at hand! It's true that international connections are more likely to be unstable as not only do they have to travel further, they have to be routed multiple times thus inc
Haha, that sounds like a great game! Well done - it's rare to see end game comebacks at all let alone from that far gone!
Sounds like pretty much the definition of "pulling a number out of your arse"... don't conduct a formal study, or read about the results of a formal study... just present a number "It takes 800ms to respond to anything in this game" as a fact and hope no one says anything about it. Frankly, I don't care about what ZehDon thinks sounds about right for human cognitive processing capabilities unless you have established yourself as an ex
I'd like to see more uniqueness to the maps; some variation on the basic model that the different game modes failed to deliver. For example, I'd like to see a Map where there is more seperation in the lanes so you really have to think hard about which lane you want to tackle as, currently, you're too easily able to swap lanes and simply team steam roll as long as you've got some + speed items or such. I'd also like to see more maps designed around smaller teams - 3v3 is obviously
[sarcasm] The only solution to this problem is to remove the gameplay entirely and have the outcome of matches decided by a behind-the-scenes equation based on which Demigods the teams have in play. After clicking the Launch Game button, your informed that you've either lost or won. If it ends in a tie, the winner is decided by a random number generator. This is the only fair way as it's obvious it's impossible to beat UB or Reg and you shouldn't have to try. [/sarcasm] <
I think the idea of a Surrender option is handy, however it won't be long before the normal game doesn't even make it to the late-game because at around the mid-game mark when it's clear who's winning the losing side will just quit out because there is no way to make a late-game turn around and sitting there, watching your Demigod get farmed by the dominate opposing Demigod is fairly boring.
so worst case ("complicated reaction") it's 384 ms, half of the 800ms that was posted. The point is, it doesn't take any flipping 800 ms to respond to stimulus no matter how you look at it. Being off by (at least) a factor of 2 is pretty darn significant, and generally that happens when you pull numbers out of your arse. 75% of all statistics are made up, you know.
Again, please read carefully the section I
The Publisher, Stardock, are well aware of the issues plaguing Demigod and I can only assume Gas Powered Games, the developer, as just as aware. The Publisher are doing their best to ensure all of the networking is in place on their end so that we can connect as easily as possible and I can only assume Gas Powered Games are doing their best to ensure all of the network code in Demigod itself is bullet proof. I think the reason why we don't have many 'offical answers' is because they'r
I've been trying all weekend, several hours a day, and have been entirely unable to play a single game. There is always at least one person I can't connect to, and I have to quit to let the others at least play. I've re-checked all of my settings as per all of the official instructions and everything is as needed. Unless I'm doing something terribly wrong that I can't seem to figure out I beginning to think I can't play Demigod at all.
Banned for insulting the perfect B-Grade acting of the Norris.
Oak is only a problem if you let him get too far ahead in the levels. I play UB a fair bit, and I trounce him without anything serious issues, although it's certainly a hard fight. His Shield can be a right royal pain in the ass if you're not ready for it.
