Enterprise was a welcome return to some of what you say others lacked while having it's own shortcomings. I'm a huge fan of the original series. I'm afraid this teaser's nothing but fluff. We've not watched anything regularly on CBS in years. I'm keeping my expectations low. LOL

And, if the game's from Steam, I'll right-click it in my Library, select Properties, click the Local Content tab, and either have it check the integrity of my local files or delete local files and re-install. No idea whether this will help in your instances. But it is the first thing I do whenever anything like this occurs. <b

Oh, agreed. And that relates to my point, above. But I imagine that the drivers that will be available when the 1080s are released will exceed the 10-12% performance improvement.
You can see ashes is GTX 1080 benchmarked here . About 10-12% better then R9 Fury X.
Without drivers that have been optimized for the 10-series, I might add.
Prices for lightly-used 980Ti's are in the process of dropping like a rock...
grrrrrrrrrrrr...
There is a lot of buzz right now about the 1080s that are in the benchmark database. I've skimmed some of that. Again, the 1080 will be king when released. But to me it's about more than that. nVidia's design is great for DX11. It's DX12 where it's either an unsound design or the drivers don't enable well, or a bit of both. And so far nVidia won't seemingly disclose their position. I contacted a tech writer I have faith
What bugs me is that, near the end of 2015, nVidia basically acknowledged that their GPUs/drivers (emphasis on drivers) weren't as well designed/developed for DX12 as AMDs. A lot of this discussion was about asynchronous compute but has widened a bit since. There is at least one post to that effect on this forum. And they implied that there would be something driver-based to help. This hasn't materialized and it's May. Now the big hype over the 10-series GPU
Odd. Good luck!
I'm guessing here, but it's an educated guess, that you're overheating. When your laptop overheats it pulls the CPU and GPU processing way down to protect them. I would do some search engine work looking for threads on your laptop model and overheating and find some suggestions. And make sure all your drivers and software is up to date for your laptop and your GPU. First, find some instructions for cleaning your cooling fans, etc. These will involve compressed air and remo
I sympathize. I'm lousy at RTS's in general but have friends that love them. So when this came along I jumped on it and early access just so (I hoped) I could get to understand it better and be better once it was out. It's easy for me to get overwhelmed when there's too much going on. All that said, this game is "easier" for me than most, I feel. The army management, number of units, buildings, and types help keep the micro-management down.

Beuhler?
The decision has many points: power consumption, heat generation, DX11 performance, DX12 performance, and of course price. Generally speaking, AMD generates more heat, consumes more power, and runs less expensive for similar performance. But this very much depends on exactly which GPUs you are comparing. If you're after top performance, the R9 Fury cards are beating the 980Ti in many benchmarks. Again, consider the power and heat issues AMD GP
I'm very happy in DX12 with my GTX980.
Which reforms the army. I wish it would act like a reinforcement: form a mini-army of it's own, head for the army, and THEN join...
Is there a maintained list in-game or elsewhere that tells players which maps are eligible for Ranked Play? I'd like to get to know them, of course... Thanks!
Check out the video at 8:40 and tell me how he does that. I can't figure it out.
OK, I can click on a member of the control group as the destination for the new unit(s) and they join up. I'd swear he's doing that without moving the screen to the destination group, so with the keyboard somehow?
I'm afraid that's not visual enough for me. He clearly uses a lot of keyboard, too, which I don't (yet?) do... Gonna fire up some skirmish and play around.
Nice work on his part! I'm unclear on how to take a selected group of units and add them to a control group. He has control group one, click-drags more units and then does something that includes the "V" key to tell it to go join control group one autonomously. Can anyone explain that for me? Thanks!
This struck me as desirable as well. I thought perhaps, according to the devs, they thought it might be an unfair advantage to see the map ahead of time, eliminating some of the effectiveness of the "Fog of War".
