BTW, before the Draginol popped up, I had gotten a warning about something evil growing in that system. Was there something I could have done to prevent the event? ~SDC~

Ack! Why didn't I know about this yesterday? The Draginol popped up on one of my systems - which I invaded and took over the next turn, unfortunately losing 3 star bases to them. If I'd known I could get that much moola from them I'd have tried that. ~SDC~
I am playing a game where the Ai seams to have a lot of advantage when it comes to influence. For example in one sector I have an influence of over 58000 and the AI has an influence of about 6000. But his planet in this sector has not revolted to my side, however on one of my planets where his influence was about 1600 and mine was 1400 my planet revolted
I ran into that and thought for a while it was a bug. But when I filled the surrounding sectors with maxed out starbas

Cari, for what it's worth I hit the divide by zero problem on AP that I had reported twice before on GC. Once again the saved game wouldn't reproduce the problem. However, I remember that you thought it might be related to an AI offering a trade, and that's the first thing that happened when I loaded up the saved game - the Dregin offered me a trade. So that's another indicator that you might be right. ~SDC~
"Your intelligence operatives have been working closely with the (some minor race name that I can't remember). They have stolen all the tech advances that the (some major race) possess. They are willing to give them to you, but for a price. They prefer planetary systems."
I've had this happen to me twice in recent games. Both times I've immediately tried to trade with the minor (I think it was the Carinoids both times) only to find that they reject my offers. Even when

One thing I forgot, but you probably already know it - park a constructor next to the AI's resources. When they go to war (and you can try bribing them to attack each other) and destroy the starbase on that resource, you can grab it from them. ~SDC~

You're very welcome, NewfyScotion. As I said in the other thread, the suggestions there are not original with me, and I'd like to give credit to those who came up with the zero military/high diplomacy stragegies, but I can't remember where I saw them. They work nicely, though, so I'd like to thank those whose names I can't remember (I suffer from CRS syndrome - "Can't Remember Sh*t"). :D ~SDC~

I don't remember which thread in this group gave the advice that I've been following, but it sure worked. The general idea is to play with no military, and to gain a military victory by cultural conquest. Start by turning off culural conquest as a victory condition, since it scores less than a military victory. Choose Populists as your polictial party for the diplomatic and morale bonuses. Use your additional picks to choose additional diplomacy, influence, and trade or economic adva

Q: What is the best strategy? How do I beat MASO? Even playing on normal my morale is going in the toilet, how do I stop it? A: There are many different winning strategies, it depends on the style of game you like to play, the difficulty level, and galaxy you choose to play in (size, abundance of planets). There are many posts on strategy hints in the GC Strategy forum at: http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GS It's worth scrolling down to see some of the ol

You might want to consider building the following improvements, which increase your economy, your manufacturing capability, and also morale: Soil enhancement Banking center Habitat improvement Manufacturing center Fusion power plant Stadium Stock market Transporters Antimatter power plant Economic center With those I rarely need to build any purely morale building projects. You can also just build a combat transport and take 5B people off, w

Q: What tech does it take to get antimatter missles? (or any other tech/project/ship)? A: Please refer to JavaScout's Galactic Civilzation Database for all your tech tree questions: http://webpages.charter.net/trevorpowdrell/ This site is a gold mine of information. ~SDC~

I spent much of April trying to rack up enough games to reach 30 and attain admiral rank, and after returning from a week away from home I find that this fix has recaptured some of my old games and catapulted me over the bar. Whoo-hoo! Thanks. :D ~SDC~

This is one that I think is worth considering, that I haven't seen mentioned before. In the old OS/2 game, each star system had a certain amount of "resources" (NOT the same as the current cultural, morale, military, economic, and research "resources") based on the number and class of the planets in the system. These "resources" contributed to the productivity of the colonized planets, as if, for instance, asteroids and uncolonized planets were being mined. The additional production could be

Additional governor suggestions: Claudia Black, "Aeryn Sun" from Farscape. Gigi Edgley, "Chianna" from Farscape. Claudia Christian, "Susan Ivonova" from Babylon 5. Tracy Scroggins, "Elizabeth Lochley" from Babylon 5. I realize you might have problems locating appropriate jpegs, but you can probably discern a theme in my suggestions ;) ~SDC~

Here's another CTD. I've reloaded the saved game twice and reproduced the problem twice. I've emailed the saved game to Cari. Very nice job. Julia is the first governor I've tried, and she's an immense improvement over the original. The install program gave me a few problems. Several times during the install, between the windows that asked where the Galciv directories are, the program reduced itself to a small pink blob in the center of the screen, and drove the CPU utilization to 100% until I hit a-c-d to bring up the task window, at which point the window reappeared. I'm running WindowBlinds, I wonder if

Again, in AP, the Player Setup screen, under "Overview", reads, "The Terran Alliance, under it's leader, player name...". "it's" is always a contraction for "it is". The sentence should read "The Terran Alliance, under its leader ..." Checking on GC12 I see that this and the trade "rout" typo I mentioned are also in GC1.2. ~SDC~ [Message Edited] [Message Edited]
