iCapn, I agree with your assessment of Brin's novels, but the film of The Postman was abysmal. If there was a little smiley icon vomiting I'd use it here. ~SDC~

I would certainly renew my Drengin subscription for a MoM2. ~SDC~
Wow. I never played MoM, and really appreciate your summary. It confirms my opinion that I'd renew my drengin subscription for it. ~SDC~ [Message Edited]
Late game I got hit with some incredibly strong escaped space monsters. They went through my lucky rangers like a knife through butter; I had to hit them with AMMs to kill them. ~SDC~
Great, I missed that news somehow. :CONGRAT: ~SDC~
Oh, sorry, I see this is discussed in a different thread. ~SDC~
You don't get to be a pawnbroker by cranking out games, just by playing them. They all add up eventually.
Do they? I thought they got aged out. ~SDC~
Only pawnbrokers? Hey, I've got a job and a family, I can't crank out games like some people. ;) ~SDC~
Annoying to suddenly find I can't research anything along the tourism path.
Tourism? Are you using a mod? ~SDC~
OK, sorry, but I must immodestly bump this thread.
I submitted 2 games to the metaverse today. Both were played under identical settings. The difficulty level of the first is recorded in the metaverse as "suicidal", while the second was recorded as "masochistic". Both were recorded as AP release level 1.50. What's up with that? I had been under the impression that the "suicidal" level was removed during the AP beta. Why would 2 games played with the same level of code and the same starting conditions (same 7 opponents, all incredib
Two thumbs up! I used it in the game I just submitted. The research boost is very helpful. ~SDC~
Wow, looks even better than the Sneaky Diplomats. ~SDC~
I try to have combat transports ready to take over the minors or any other major that is about to kick the bucket. This way I get the planet
Thanks, I wasn't paying close enough attention to have prepared some transports. The Arceans had some battleships and transports in the neighborhood that had been on their way to attack the Yor. They made peace with the Yor and attacked the Carinoids the next turn. I'll remember your advice. :) ~SDC~
One further hint for those as dense as me. Don't try the no military/cultural conquest strategy if there's a minor civ in your home sector. Despite having the Carinoids in my home sector I was doing quite nicely, trading my way to tech superiority, when they got taken over by the Arceans. Next turn the Arceans demanded that I hand over my starbase that I'd started building up with cultural modules. Oops. >:(
Does espionage give anything else than info? I have never gained anything new after reaching advanced.
I have, on rare occasions, been told that my spies have stolen a tech. ~SDC~
As it is an animation
Which raises the question, why the cheesy animation that looks like a TV with bad interference? Is that something that can be changed? ~SDC~
Even with the diplomatic power of the Sneaky Diplomats and Diplomatic Translators, the AI's tend to demand an exhorbitant number of techs if you ask for a significant military tech like Battleship, Dreadnaught, or Avatar. I haven't tried offering them money, does that work any better? I've always been able to get those techs through trade eventually, since the AI's will offer them much more cheaply when they initiate the trade. ~SDC~
When I have Mods enabled, I find that if I do a Control-N to redo the "Galaxy" at the start, the came now crashes and goes back to the launcher app.
I'm using 4 mods, all "Stardock Certified", and have not seen this problem. I've got the latest AP from Stardock Central, and have done Control-N on 2 of the 3 AP games I've played recently. Which mods are you using? ~SDC~
if you control a resource in a sector that is occupied by an AI they do not complain if you build culture mods on it.
Nice hint, NewfyScotian! I've played my first few tiny maso games on AP 1.49 with this strategy, and found it still works but is harder. The extra two alien races are just 2 more you have to bribe, and the AI's research strategy has changed somewhat so that you can no longer rely on them not researching certain techs (leaving you free to get the

AeonOfTime, What file format and size do you need for your governor images? I've got one or two jpegs that might be useable, but I'm not sure they're large enough for your purposes. ~SDC~
BTW, that luck bonus really seems to have an effect, at least on AP. I've "found" 7 Rangers in the one game I've played with this party. ~SDC~
Thanks very much for this nice mod. ~SDC~
Ah, thanks, SLW and Vision of Tomorrow. Next time I get that I'll try saving the game and trying those approaches. BTW, this was on AP. I've played more than 30 games on GC and never hit that event. ~SDC~
