Here is the correct link I think.
Nice! Thanks, Gunner 243. I had seen that page a while back but is seems that it's been significantly enhanced since then. ~SDC~
Actually, the detail button is in the lower left.
Picky, picky, picky. :D :D :D ~SDC~
Ouch depending on when you clicked on the watch icon you could of had many emails.
Fortunately it seems to limit itself to one email a day, no matter how many posts are made. Based on my own experience as a programmer (oh, excuse me, I'm now called a software engineer ;) ) I bet that change was made very early in the Stardock test cycle. ~SDC~
I think you just need to click the 'watch' icon again.
Thanks, I just tried that, we'll see if it worked. ;) ~SDC~
Thanks for the links, nazrix. Unfortunately the first one you gave, http://www26.brinkster.com/kadirclan doesn't work for me (page cannot be found). Was there a typo in it? ~SDC~
Anyone still have OS/2 on their machines? Duel boot mode?
I was dual booting up until about a year ago, when my mobo died and I chose to upgrade to some components that my old OS/2 didn't have drivers for. I had Object Desktop for OS/2 too. ~SDC~
Is there a way to "unwatch" a thread? I tried clicking on "Show My Watch List", but that just brought up what appeared to be an ancient (really ancient) thread with Frogboy talking about the GC alpha test program. ~SDC~
I'm an idiot. I figured out in the middle of the night last night that, on the same day SDC updated itself, I must have accidentally clicked on "watch thread" when I was trying to click on "quote". That probably explains it. ~SDC~
My SDC got updated last weekend, and since then I've been getting email notification whenever the "Question for Technician" thread is updated. I've posted to a number of other threads, and expected to get a notification for those threads also, but none have been forthcoming. What's up? ~SDC~
There is very little addtion to GC as a game, it is the Meta that has caused the addition.
That's a bit of an overstatement. I've been playing GC since the OS/2 days, long before there was a metaverse, and have continued playing because of the fantastic replayability of the game itself. That, and the continuous stream of improvements and mods that keep the game fresh. Of course the metaverse is one of those improvements ;) ~SDC~
Thanks again for all your posts. I finished my first game with Horus and High Elves last night. I have to say that compared with High Men I'm impressed with the Elf Longbowmen, and the Elven Lords are much better than High Men calvary but not as good as Paladins. Pegasi were a big disappointment. The mana bonus was a help, though. Another question stimulated by that game: Is what you find in each node completely random, or does it somehow vary with how you took it? For example, I h
Another question for you MoM veterans: do roads increase your gold? If so, does the road have to connect to another city to activate the gold bonus? ~SDC~
Yes but they grow sooo sloooooowlyyyyyy
Yes, I've noticed that when I've captured some Dark Elf cities in past games. They have problems with rebelling also, I think. Thanks for the posts! I didn't realize that elves gave you more mana and dwarves gave more gold. ~SDC~
The metaverse issue raises the question of scoring. As an MoM newbie with no access to documentation, I haven't figured out how that works. Clearly higher dificulty levels, more opponents, more spells researched and higher population add to the score, but does finishing the game sooner also add to the score? ~SDC~
Others will likely recommend Halflings, for various reasons.
I saw that suggested elsewhere, based on them having 8 figures per unit and slingers. But their buildings seem to be seriously limited compared to High Men. I haven't checked out High Elves yet, thanks for the recommendation. On the easy level High Men Paladins and Magicians just seem to roll over everything. It takes quite a while to get to those units, of course. ~SDC~
To honor one of my favorite authors, how about "Oceania"? It could appeal to Brits, Canucks, Kiwis, etc. Or maybe "Urth", for another favorite author. ~SDC~
"Blakes 7" and "Doctor Who's" I like. ~SDC~
Recently I've been splitting my game time between GC and MoM. Since I never played MoM until a couple of months ago, I searched for strategy guides on the internet and found a site that suggested that beginners start with Horus and High Men. I've been successful with those choices up to the "easy" level, but could use some help on playing on harder levels. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. ~SDC~
Another name The System Lords
Was that a Stargate reference? :) ~SDC~
I love Galciv forums.. always a good laugh or interesting comments.
And sometimes the amusing comments are in the most unexpected threads. :) ~SDC~
Does anyone deliberately submit losses to the metaverse just to earn the "wounded in action" medal? ;) ~SDC~
Thanks for the opinions. It looks like maybe if you can disable the XP firewall you can bypass a lot of the reported problems. Since I'm using ZoneAlarm that'd be no problem for me. ~SDC~
I've heard a number of warnings that SP2 breaks applications, especially those that use IE. Are there any known problems with Stardock apps, like Stardock Central?
Still, as a small nation we're doing all right!
Small nation? As an American admirer of your country, I've thought you've "punched above your weight" since at least 1916. ~SDC~
There should be at least one artifact called the Scepter of Frogboy.
And a hero CariElf? and a Mace of Kwilas? and Draginol's Bow? LOL LOL LOL ~SDC~
