Wonderful. Thanks for this. :)
Thormodr
I do hope the Guardian will be rewarded for not destroying the world as she is a Druid-ish type character. Hopefully she can get unique crafting materials by preserving nature and life.
Hmmm...squeezing life from the land in order to get rare crafting ingredients? Interesting...
I agree. :P
I believe they mentioned that it was a placeholder last week until they got the art assets done, IIRC.
A cap at level 10 for heroes? I am not sure I like that. It doesn't sound very epic, to be honest.
Some interesting ideas there. :) I definitely want different Lootenants. I'd prefer not to know who they'll be before the game starts though. So maybe have a pool of 4 and have 2 randomly selected. Or conversely, have the option to specify which 2 you would like in the game. That way, there is an option.

Value for money. In my opinion, Civilization 5: Beyond Dearth is poor value for money as it doesn't do enough to differentiate itself from Civilization 5. It's essentially Civilization 5 with a pasted on Sci-Fi theme and a couple of novel ideas thrown in. As well as this, as mentioned, it is poorly designed and is actually worse than Civilization 5. (Which was a piss poor iteration of the franchise to begin with.)
I assume that the intelligent Vorpal Blade will only be found after completing a series of arduous quests and will not be craftable? [e digicons]^_^[/e] Also, will the minor races have "morality alignments?" For example, will the Dwarves be good and the Swamp Giants evil?
Excited about Thursday. I won't be playing the Tyrant as I never play evil characters as a personal rule but I am very excited about the Guardian. ^^
Firaxis has gone downhill ever since 2K Games came on the scene. :(
Will the minor factions come to you with demands/questions/suggestions? (After you have met them.) Otherwise, I could see myself camping a scout near their city and striking up a conversation every X turns. Then the minor factions would turn into little more than vending machines and that wouldn't be fun.
@Borg999 Good point! MOAR VOARPAL BLADZ!
Happy to hear people are busy getting things done. :) I completely understand that talking vorpal blades do take time to balance. [e digicons][/e]
Yep. Bring on the Guardian!
Just waiting for the opportunity to play the Guardian. [e digicons][/e]
Pirating is wrong, period. I don't do it and don't support people that do it.
Since this thread is full of comments against Civ 5: BE, let me be the first to say that I really like it. Let me first say that I agree that CivIV is prolly the best strategy game ever made. Let me also say that I did not like Civ V when it first came out. I've since changed my tune. I think of Civ V as a game of Chess rather than a game of Civ. Now let me say that I am surprised at the poor UI choices in
Not impressed at all with Civilization 5: Beyond Dearth. I've played the demo twice and watched a Let's play series. It feels lifeless and carries all the baggage from Civilization 5. (1UPT and all its attendant problems such as the AI being incapable of using it combat wise and horrific diplomacy, etc.) It really feels like Civilization 5 with a pasted on Sci-Fi theme and a few novel changes. Plus, the UI is awful. Jon Shafer did a much better job in Civilization 5 in
But isn't that how it works now? Release an infinished or broken game and then fix it with two or expantions that you charge the fans $30 or more each. Its a scam and I'm surprised the majority keep on falling for it. And dont get me started about companies that release content lite games and then charge $5 for a series of anemic DLCs.
That's exactly it. Civilization 5: Beyond Dea
Sid needs to take charge... That's how they will revitalize the franchise, but they can't move back. They must always move forward, and the dumb gameplay needs to be removed.
Sid has been rubber stamping the games for years. He is laughing all the way to the bank. :( If he cared at all about the franchise that he built, he will take charge of Civ VI and make it an absolute masterpiece. A guy
Definitely is a good idea!
