Once you can handle the AI pretty well, I recommend trying multiplayer. I know a lot of people are hecitant to do so but believe me, it broadens your Sins experience unlike anything else!

Then I read it again, very carefully, very slowly........... Nope, I was mistaken. Silly me! I find that gives me enough resources/labs to get a decent fleet started.[/quote]Well here it goes: First off, colonizing the planets close to your homeworld is a good idea. You like to colonize up to six planets, and I approve. The only tip I can give you here is that you might want to skip on ice -and volcanic planets in order to quickly colonize asteroids, dwarf planets o

Could you tell us a bit more about how you expand at the start of a game? So what techs do you research, what kind of labs do you build and how many planets do you colonize etc. This would make it easier for us to give you some useful advice.

You know... Regarding the OP: It is very likely that the AI got fed by another player (or even more) that obtained an eco slot on the map. When the AI gets fed it has a lot more resources to spend, which is probably why it rebuilded so quickly and overwhelmed you. Also, the player that was stil in the game might have given the AI specific orders to attack certain planets and bypass others. When a skilled human player commands the AI, it can be a serious threat indeed.

If you would require an envoy for it to work this tech would become useless. Who in the right mind would build envoys that cost fleet supply and require extra research to have peace with some local faction in a single gravity well? The would only be useful when you put them at a Pirate Base in that case. Besides, I don't think it becomes available too soon to be honest... Also, the TEC Rebels aren't a very diplomatic faction. Using envoys isn't really

This is by no means a good counter to corvette rush, because corvettes are available at the very start of the game and starbases are very expensive, so people can still easily overwhelm those with a massive amount of corvettes early on. Corvettes just need to be nerfed in some way. Possibly the best solution is to just remove their speed advantage, since then they would be more easily destructable by light frigates and other kinds of ships, while still remaining useful by being very c

Best way to deal with the Maw is spamming massive amounts of corvettes. Assuming the one using the titan doesn't have it backed up with Sentinels... If that is the case, well, you should try to lure the titan into one of your defended gravity wells and hope for the best.
