All are quite true, and i obviously see how you criticize SP. I only use it if i can't find any good online games or if I want to test a new strategy; if it kills on a medium map in thirty minutes or less, odds are it will keep me alive vs a good player for at least the first 10 minutes.
Now, i am pretty sure that some people are going to get into some heated discussions over this, if people reply to it, but I want to know what everyone thinks about MP vs. SP. Now, very many of the people who are good at the game play MP, maybe because they like kicking real people's asses but don't have the life skills to do it in person. All noobs play SP, hopefully, though I have seen some people on ICO that literally seem as if they bought the game five minutes ago. Remember, that de
First of all, you don't need Trinity if you have Entrenchment and vanilla. All you will get new is Diplomacy, which you can get for $10 on Impulse, compared to the $40 of Trinity. 1. Most MP games use quick start, but their are a handful of people that play Entrenchment and still don't use it 2. Well, if you have a well balanced force to defend it with, a big LC fleet can do some nasty things, particularly with the Advent, since it can have 3 SC instead of 2. I think SC a
Maybe you could make it so that the starting population is higher. Or maybe you could increase the structure build time decrease to 20%-40%-60%
Sorry, accidently double-replied[e digicons][/e]
If there were to be a sins 2, I think it would be like this in the beggining: The Vasari negotiated a cease-fire with the TEC and Adsvent, shortly after which they continue on their exodus. The TEC and Advent also have a temporary cease-fire (diplomacy). Then, about five years after the Vasari leave, their persuers arrive at the TEC and Advent worlds. Their fleet appears to be Vasari, but it is far more advanced and far outnumber the TEC and Advent alone, and still have a slight advantag
I love the TEC and it kicks butt, even if its a little skimpy on the offensive side of things.
How exactly are they skimpy on the offensive side? Last I checked, the TEC do have the worst offense, but they still can spam.
In long and drawn out matches, the AI may research their superweapon, but regardless, will never build one.
That's something i never quite understood. Nonetheless, it is just one example of why almost no one plays an easy or medium AI unless they have less than a weeks experience (when i say that, I mean that you go to sleep at three in the morning after playing the game, and you start that playing session at about 7:30ish)
Now, remember that despite what Agent said about spamming disciples and illums, every spam has a counter. In this case, the counter is simple: rush you early so you can't afford to put out the money to be able to spam so much. Still, if you spam nothing but disciples, and do the math, the max fleet slots you can have for Advent is 2000... a disciple takes up four (correct me if im wrong)... so that means you get 500 disciples... think about it... each one causes lets say ten damage per barrag
Now, its worth noting that most people think the Vasari SB is the only one that can attack, because it is the only one that can move. This isn't really true. Now, the Vasari Orkolus is able to use its own firepower to attack structures, and it can be upgraded with anti-structure weapons, making it powerful against enemies who rely on static interior defenses and only have fleets on the frontier. If you fire a shot from a Kostura at a lightly defended planet, then you can sen a Jarun t
bump for another budding vasari player. I dont find there HCS to be all that useful. Am i in the wrong here? I hoard assailants and flak.
Well, the HCs themselves aren't the combat leaders, their abilities are, especially IF for support and protecting your LRFs and LCs from rushing LFs, and reintegration for actually staying alive despit the hoards of TEC ships and very powerful Advent ships. Spamming assalants and flak is a semi-viable strategy... but only if you spam
Well although many people do rush, Turtling is not a bad thing to do, It's fine if you like to do it
It may be fine, but in MP, rushing is far more popular, it can sometimes be the only chance someone has to destroy an enemy before theey become TOO heavily defended (I.E., a fully upgraded SB over every planet and all tactical slots filled)
EDIT: Also, you really should look at the Multiplayer replay topic and download some of the replays. It's extremely helpful watching what some of the veteran players do, and can really improve your playing style.
Agreed. You can learn a lot more a lot quicker by watching people who have done it a lot longer than you ever have. Simply because people are WAY better than AIs in this game.
The thing is that they are against eachother also, so if you can cause damage to others you are bound to satisfy destroy this quests which also gives improved standing. Use that to get them offering cease fires or alliances.
OR, you could give in to their demands w/ skilled diplomats tech for TEC, and offer them cease fire and break it when necessary
Ignore the last reply; i fixed it by setting the "Random Spawn Position" to false. Now i spawn with 1,000,000,000 credits, metal, and crystal, and i am alone in my star system (great for defense).
Thanks harpo, now its working, but one more quick question: I am trying to manipulate starting resources, so the players have ten time more starting resources (just an example), but when i load the map, it just has the normal level; solution(s)????
I am using xp as well, and just to check something, as in, double check that the map is in the right place, could you copy-paste the maps directory on your pc? PS, did you like the map?
that tec guys dun have any caps?
Yeah, who the hell would have that many units without having a single cap
Yes, it does depend on the situation. After all, its worthless to research if there aren't any volcanic or ice planets on the map or your star. And yes swordsalmon, it is almost TWO years old (minus about 5 months)
I am not in the diplo beta, so could you just see if it works in entrenchment? And What OS do you have?
Ok, i sent it too you, hope you can figure out what is wrong with it and fix it.
Yeah Amish... ICO has changed a lot. There was once a point when someone who rushed would almost always win. Then people got onto that, and now EVERYONE does it. It kinda... takes the fun out of it, I mean, sure, eight hour games were tedious, but it was kinda fun to build a huge fleet and fight against the enemy's fleet over the star, and then just barely winning and then attacking their homeworld and winning. Now, it's bland. You know that 90% of people are going to spam LRFs in the fi
No, as in, it isn't in the list AT ALL
It appears to be missing its browse name & browse description, if that might make a difference, what should I put in there
