I had noticed the pirates are really wussier. It isn't bad but they are almost back to, "Hey look--it's the volunteer cap ship levelers!". In the early game, now I can build a cloud of defense guns and park two or more caps in it with "hold postion"and not even look at the system. I still think pirates should have the same sort of settings as AI player slots; easy, hard, cruel, etc., etc. I don't know if this is already partly implemented but a raid size based on the

Oh--I thought he meant as in when I am playing. Muwahahahaha!
Yeah, the black hole is a rather complicated set of abilities. Good Luck with that.
Lol--feel free to volunteer assistance :) Suggestion for Distant Stars...have a black hole and a "stable" black hole--that does what I am trying here. Then players designing maps can add them in to their game scenario. I'm basically going to have a pirate base at a black hole as a choke point--that is, if I get ..."lucky".
Sounds very cool. Can't wait to actually get to play it.
Thanks...at least I am on the right track. There are four-five abilities/buffs (they seem to vary a little between Celestial and DS) for the blackhole and its own abilities so I will start with this and see if I can figure out which one needs what. Great help! (fingers crossed).
Speaking of the black holes in Distant Stars (Great mod by-the-way), I have been trying to understand how to do the following (so far I have not been able to get it to work): 1) Make the black hole "ownable" by a player or AI through the map design. 2) Make the abilities and buffs of the black hole only apply to non-owning forces passing through. I can see the abilities cascade to produce their effects but I have no idea how to alter what I am assuming are the triggers
I have a pretty large one--50 stars--two major choke points separating the two halves. If you want a copy let me know.
Thanks--yep, you'll get your check right after I get mine.
I've played TSOP almost exclusively and you guys have not detracted from the Sins experience AT ALL. In fact, you have even fixed a couple of graphics. The optional elements like reduced strike craft are just that--optional. The core TSOP is nothing but a plus. How many people play with low quality settings to avoid late game lag then gripe about a not-even real "reduction in quality"? Great work. No, I am not a paid spokesperson (nor do i wor
Lol, Carbon--note my first post, "after multi-core threading and the space ponies expansion pack". It's a dream (like talking about modding the expansion and the features that will be in it and critiquing it before anyone has even seen it) but it is just a question of who will do it first. The Freelancer designers as Digital Anvil were on to this but Microsoft told them, "You're nuts, it's to expensive...we'll take your great engine and core idea and call it even.". Wh
There are people in China, the Phillipines and India who do this for a living--they grow accounts and sell them. It makes them more money than they would make at a job in their own country. It started in Second Life I think and then WOW and has become a "thing" now. Also some students and teens do it for cash as well. I know of one occasion in Eve when a player had paid $5000 for certain characters.
I can't much do the particles and textures and all but I am going to try making a modification where the models are stripped down to bare bones, used by all sides and simply textured just to see what performance it can get. I'd love to see someone actually be able to run a version of sins on a tablet pc. I'll need a little more practice at the monet with what I am doing but it should be possible then after. So think of Sins with simple "icon" ships and planets instead of
Yep--but ya don't larn stuff ifn' ya ain't tryin' it. Make the stellar clouds vanish as a TSOP option and I am happy too.
Hey...we gonna make you an offer a you canta refuse, eh?
No worries--love your mod. When ya gots the time (make it stack with TSOP and its golden).
I dunno. It would need a few things to get me interested. Capital Ships ala a Silent Hunter or Star Trek Bridge Commander type game Fighters that feel like SPACE fighters. Doesnt need to be fully newtonian, Jumpgate found an okay middle ground here, but they still didnt feel like SPACE fighters. A stupidly intricate economy/manufacturing system. (X games) NPC pilots to fill up the universe. War. Lot
Ok...here's some background/devices/story... The upstart TEC is roaming about seeking economic domination of the galaxy--which is how they gain power as a race. The Advent are converting people from the dangers of capitalism and the need to join the Unity. TEC and Advent are enflaming people to join them against the alien menace
Yeah--please use it. I was leveling it once every few days (resetting skill training) but I just don't have time to really play hard at it. So it wasn't doing me much good...I primarily liked keeping up with the developments but I can trial them anytime. So please--take my gift. Now we are like family and one day I will ask you for a modding favor that you can't refuse.
There would have to be some things behind the player's activities to make it work. Being part of one empire or the other, other menaces and the like. Ideally a fight for control of the universe by your faction with rewards to those who achieve. I like the strategic element of Sins so you would need a strategic un iverse to go with it. There would have to be a purpose. So one faction pitted against another with a greater menace that sometimes required alliance
I have can run MSGM alone--but I cannot run it with TSOP. If I instal MSGM on top of TSOP, I get a minidump. If I install TSOP on top of MSGM it overwrites it and I lose the effect. I flat out don't play without MSGM. I do a lot of large solo maps and can't live without it. The version I ran is the TSOP 0.3 one--I didn't try the other. PM if you need more info.
Will do--go play the Eve account now! There is an empty pilot slot in the account I sent you--meaning it's a compleete new start--any race, any direction just set it up. If you don't like it, then you can delete it and nine hours later be in a new char. The other two are more developed and you would hang onto them for long term play. Even if your own character you create becomes your "main" they can provide missions and income while you build him up. Behind every
And we all know gamers are not a fickle and petulant lot ;) Congrats on getting into the biz! Commerical is the almost only way to get financed but indie is the way to freedom...poor, broke freedom...but freedom darn it.
We've bought one online game in our life for our kids--that was Runsescape because they charged $5 a month. My kids played it for six years. Freelancer was like Sins--you paid for the game and the modding community later kept the list seever and "universes" going. Unfortunately, Freelancer has some real shortcomings in what's hardcoded and what it can do. Put in some mysteries like wormholes that go bad and throw you through space, some npc fleets and Sins
I just bumped the "netbook mod"--look in recent posts. There was a version made for netbooks--might be what you are looking for.
Must be where "Armor Hotdogs" came from.
