I think it has to be 5 squares (if not 5 then it is X squares) to be connected/linked to the town nearest it. If you hover the mouse cursor over it then you can read a tooltip if you have them enabled that will tell you how many squares closer your city/town needs to be to get linked, and sometimes the conditions are right that you can "Grow" your town the Z squares required to get it linked.

There is a Tower that you can build which will grant +2 mana points to regen for each hero channeler. I understand the Sov's offspring regenerate mana in tactical combat. There are quite a few mana bricks/tablets that work like mana potions. Are there any other ways to increase mana regen?
1.08 does seem more stable and for the most part the improvements are in the right direction. one GIANT exception.... Kingdom side Weapons Tech MACES 6 attack > WARHAMMER 5 attack for no apparent (none documented) reason this change is discouraging me from going hammers and then light plate ...I mean why not swap hammers and maces or swap there values or make hammers 7 or 8 attack? No explanatian so either its a bug SD added or they e
You will need to increase your Tech points for research each turn to catch up, but you need Parties/Squads and/or companies researched and Weapons up to Maces and Leather armor minimum. Also you need Barracks and Command posts on your big cities producing your military engine. Otherwise keep your heroes away from his big guns, AI do not defend well so go on the offensive and attack its towns I like to keep them if same faction and I can defend them otherwise delete each building a
I have AOW 2 and SM as well infact my boys 8/9 are playing them on another computer and I had intended that all 3 of us next year or two might play EWoM on our Home LAN, but ... We may have to settle for doing that with AOWII:SM instead it all depends on how Single player turns out first... Given the limitations on MP and the scope but first I must be convinced that the game is complete and we are nearly there but not yet. The problem that TBS games have in MP is ppl
I would be beside myself if I found out the AI used lower /Raise land to create a mtn pass or land bridge to reach an objective and bypass a hurdle. NOT SEEN IT. but I do it at least once a game. I would be beside myself if I started taking over nearby AI cities and all the AI's or at least per faction AI's joined hands against me and actually worked together against me... I would be beside myself if the AI sovreign would actually defend his last cit
Kalin, From what I can tell Brad is a great starter, he just needs to hire a great finisher and then he will have himself a very fine company. (I agree with you but then we do not have all the details, brad only gave us an appetizer - a tease if you will) I think most folks are more concerned with what is being done now and fixed/balanced patched now? (ok maybe not most folks but I am) Brad, Thanks for the update its neat I really m
for #2, YES!!!
Maybe part of the problem is that I am impatient and do not have a tech tree in front of me for all the possibilities. How far up do these things level up? I got adventuring up to level 7, going straight for the techs that display items on the map. I had gotten at least through the one that increases crystal visibility, and still hardly anything appeared. Is my impatience getting the better of me, or do I already have the major tec
I think this thread should be necro'd... Let's go back to Feb and look at what ppl where saying... now apply the lessons learned before they continue repeating. I think 1.08 is a step in the right direction, I can finally play a large map and at turn 215 and no crashes BRAVO SD! but lets continue to improve AI and also the Tech Trees, my strongest grievence on 1.08 is still the weapons on the kingdom tech side... MACE>WARHAMMER the simple fix would
In late game there are a few things that can be done to make bows better. In the unit design you can select a magic Amulet +2 attack and Ring +1 Attack if you have the magic research for magic items and the crystals available for the items when training the troops this effectively give you the ability to have better bows. Well it did in patch 1.07, not exactly sure how the combat mechanics differ now.
You can click on any part of the city to select it. You don't have to select the city center.
NOT TRUE when attempting to send a caravan of your own to that city ...It must go to the city center. (or at least it must in patch 1.07, I am assuming that mechanic did not change in patch 1.08)
For Kingdom, Warhammer is a higher tech than Maces but is a lesser weapon... What gives?
Tip: By researching 'Adventure' tech and getting Notable Level to 3 I run a champ around and collect Gildar that just lies around in patch 1.08 - there is still no shortage of currency.
Maybe in the future, but for now it's like finding a bag of Gildar/Gold.
/agree Pathfinding needs logic and movement point weighting of the various solutions to find the "Best" solution not just the first solution. With movement point the quickest path is not always the shortest path...
Archers are extremely powerful in early game, some say they are overpowered. I wouldn't go that far, but I do think they need some balancing.
Logic... Overpowered/Underpowered = unbalanced How can something need balancing if it is not over/underpowered? (rhetorical Q) I do agree with the rest of the post however...
A General Purpose CPU can solve an O(N^3) problem much more effortlessly (and especially through brute force methods) than any human being can. I cannot state the same for an NP-Hard. I agree with Storm's Statement as it being only half the AI problem as well. Adding Patches that make nonsence out of the tech trees is not helping... (Proof: Look at Kingdom Maces and then Warhammers... o.O) It could be successfu
Yes, I get a bit pissed about this but then depending on the caravan I just RolePlay it away and I can say I've fought a few wars over illegally parked caravans. The offending traders stop once executed and war is declared... I know its a harsh solution... although it works... :P
The biggest problem is that most weapons for empire and kingdom are same (same stats), but the way they are researched is completely different. Kingdom gives better and better weapons every few techs, so you would expect those weapons to outperform/replace previous ones, and that getting all those extra techs means something. On the other hand, empire lumps one set of weapons all at once (for example same tech gives mace and all 3
Generally it looks like somebody is trying to "balance" weapons by looking at each one in isolation instead of actually balancing them against eachother.
Agree 100% - It sure looks that way or QA is not looking at what changed and why... We are getting no explanations...
I'd be satisfied with an explanation if it is a bug and target fix ETA... This would also acknowledge it as a bug.
No. What you advocate is basically the outsourcing of QA to the customer base or to be more specific that part of the customer base that is willing to do anything to have the product/patch a little bit earlier than otherwise. And while this may be a win/win situation for this group (gets to play earlier) and the company (saving money) it will most likely be a big loss for the overall customer base ... and if other companies or even indu
Stardock, Frogboy, Are you aware that the warhammer now does 5 damage whereas the mace (a lower-tech weapon) does 6 damage? is this behavior in the latest hot fix/patch of 1.08 intended?
I, too, would like to know...
