And again: what happened to your 'other' AAR? The one that you were going to come back to a few weeks ago? Has it gone the way of so many here?
It hasn't been abandoned - I will finish it eventually, since I have all the notes for the game saved on my computer. I just don't have much interest in it right now.

So, I've played a lot more of the test. I'll put up a more detailed report later on, but a quick survey of the situation: The year is now 2232. The Arceans are gone, crushed by the Drath and Torians (they surrendered to the latter). Two main wars are raging - the Drengin vs. the Torians and a ton of minor races, and a quasi-alliance (no formal one yet - in fact the only races with Alliances are the bad guys) of the Drath, Altarians, and Terrans vs. the Yor. The Korx have
You have to place your spies on a structure, the more you place, the faster you get intel.
This seems incorrect - in all my games of TOA, you can do exactly what's described in the OP: place race-wide agents to get intel.
I couldn't figure out how to create thumbnails, so I went with direct links. A bit ugly, but should work, and it's preferable to taking up tons of space with the big screenshots I was using. By July, the situation looked something like this: http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee492/qrtxian/GC2TA_Vegans_1308617513.jpg The Drengin and Torians were emerging
The idea of some kind of peaceful annexation/protectorate system for minor races has been raised before, but it's something to discuss for GalCiv 3 at best - that kind of major change won't be made at this point, even if the semi-mythical "small update" does come out. Never seen this thing with paying maintenance on ships you gave away before. It's most likely a bug of some kind.
As some of you may know, I've been part of a group of modders who have been trying to fix some of the problems with the TOA AI, most notably the various errors with the tech trees. I've stopped working for a while, but I'm aware there's still problems with the AI, so I decided to run an AI vs. AI game to see how they all stacked up in a vacuum. While it's possible to use cheats to have the AI play itself, this is hard to follow and frequently crashes, so I went with the me
The autodesigner, frankly, is not very good. It's probably best if you design your own ships.
Also, special techs like the Terran warp bubbles...I forget the proper name!....in another thread I read that you should just put them on one of your ships in a fleet and not all of them, but I don't really understand that. Doesn't the tech just automatically upgrade all the ships you have once you've researched it?
I'm not quite sure if I understand
Well, for what it's worth, I do like the Space Jellyfishes.
Um, what is this? Anyway, if there's one science fiction cliche that deserves to die, it's the idea of humans being special. I really don't know what the issue with this is - do writers really think we need all that ego-stroking? - but I honestly never want to see it again in my life. So... yeah.
Mega-Freighter:
Here's some more Korx ships. No creative story here - the game hasn't been going on very long. Unnamed Attack Fighter: </p
That's correct, but "Government" as a value/ability has no game effect.
They're all legacy strings, actually.
Wow, has it really been two months? Next post will go up this weekend. Incidentally, the above contains a typo - the war actually began in 2229, not 2230.
Bump to keep this on the main page, as it's still quite useful even if it hasn't been updated in some time.
I've run into it too. If it won't go away on its own, the best solution is to save and reload.
I always assumed they were moving out from the homeworld...
No. Not even, in fact, when the planet supposedly is already inhabited (as in some random events).
To be honest, I've always found the inefficiency of Terror Stars rather amusing. The fact that your system-killing weapon of death takes enormous efforts to build and can be destroyed by some lone punk of a fighter seems so right , somehow. I do wish the AI would use them, though - I've never seen it happen.
I think the bigger issue here might be getting the AI to accurately make use of these things.
There's at least two AARs still going on, not counting the Kushana Initiative or my Galactic Wars AAR (which updates at an incredibly slow pace. Ahem).
This belongs in the Off-Topic section.
The game has been focussed mainly on my struggles with the Torian (and the Drengin) but watch this space...
Sounds interesting, though what I was actually wondering is how close you are to winning - 2234 is fairly late in the game. Do you have any allies (as in actual, formal allies)?
You'll usually have time to take them out. Build your planetary invasion techs, or use a lot of transports if you don't have the techs.
That's actually my concern - I'd like to see them actually do something once. They've never lived long enough on DA to make any real impact - once they were wiped out literally the same turn they appeared. And by someone else, too, which was the really annoying part - t
15th May 2234
Out of curiosity, are you farther ahead than this in the actual game, or did it really take you almost three weeks to play three in-game months? Also, what's going on with the other races during this Torian war? There hasn't been much heard about any of them but the Drengin.
