The scenarios in Twilight are all unplayable - I forget the reason, but this will occur with every one. So far, there's been no progress on fixing it, and it's one of the largest outstanding bugs. Hopefully, the final update that's been talked about will fix this, as it's seriously annoying right now.

So, in the end, this didn't turn out too well: the minor Yor failed to colonize and spent half the game besieged by the Torians until finally being conquered, and after nearly eight game years I still have not met the minor Thalan. Granted, it took almost as long to make contact with the Arceans, but they at least made plenty of noise beforehand (thugging minors for cash, sending messages about their techs, and going to war with the Drengin) whereas the Thalan have been completely quiet.
The picture links in the first post don't appear to be working.
The voting's been open for about a week and a half now. Lord Carlos has opted out, and everyone else but TMS2224 has voted. Safe to call it now?
edit: I used cheats to remove fog of war and the dread lords are on the map since the beginning. But it turns out that they appear on the Milky Way map, but not on the custom map.
Yes, the Dread Lords are there from the start on the Milky Way and 4-Struggle custom maps. If you don't like that, you can edit the maps to get rid of them (which isn't hard), or just play different maps.
As you might have noticed, GalCiv 2 has a fair number of star names that are references to other works of science fiction. Sometimes, this has led to amusing coincidences. For instance, in my current game as the Altarians, I and my Torian allies are making an all out effort to stop the Drengin from destroying my main military starbase... at Hoth: (sadly, the name is j
Holy necroposts, Batman! Anyway, the different forms of scoring annoy me too. In fact, this is why I don't play Metaverse to begin with - I don't want my goals or playstyle having to be altered just to score higher. I can understand where this is coming from, though - military wins probably are the hardest, at least with the settings I use.
I'm curious... In one of your first posts, you mentioned a number of non-playable custom races. How did you get them to be non-playable? I've been trying that myself with no luck.
Well, you can make race-specific invasion options. Just have the tech that enables that option be unique to that race - there's some already enabled, I think. But nothing to do about modules, though.
I look at the report, though, and don't see any maintenance cost associated with the starbase. So why destroy it?
There's a logistics-based limit on how many starbases you can have - once you go over, it starts costing more and more to build each new starbase. Really, the question is why not destroy it?

Sorry for not posting - I, too, have experience computer issues. I'll respond to the ballot tomorrow.
Another good post. Looks like the Torians have had it, then. My only complaint is that your capitalization seems a bit odd - for instance, I would say that in this line
'CASTOR OHIRIDES!' Came the shout from Dr Zeus
"came" should probably be lowercaps, and there's a couple other places like that. But that's just a minor issue. BTW, you might be interested to know that I'm resuming my Galact
Fascinating stuff - I've finally had a chance to catch up on this, and things are looking interesting. Looks like we'll finally get some information on the Altarian situation as well. It's a bit surprising the Thalans have turned out to be such a paper tiger - or is the Federation simply stronger than you thought? Incidentally, at the risk of "tooting my own horn", as it were, I thought I'd let you know that my "Galactic Wars" AAR has finally resumed, and the n
Fixed! I really wish Word would catch those kinds of errors.
Honestly, spellcheckers don't even come close to living up to the hype (and that includes grammar). As for the post, I liked it - particularly in that the Navy seems to be fairly reasonable, rather than the possible show trial that could have been expected.
After playing some normal games (beginner & simple), I tried the Dread Lords-campaign (normal difficulty). I found the first two missions simply boring, I just conquered almost passive opponent. Does it get any better later on? And are there missions that allow victory without just conquering everything? What are the other campaigns like?
The campaign becomes a good deal more challenging when the Dread Lords show up. The first few missions against the Drengin seem m
No. Immense is as big as it gets. However, I've found one way to slow down things is to mod in a range penalty. When you combine it with the right settings for stars and planets, you can have what feels like an even bigger galaxy than normal (and Immense is still pretty big).
Wow, it's been nine months since I started this thing. Here's the beginning of the Second Korx War - more to come later. State of affairs: 2229 – 2231 For these three years, one major political and military event dominated known space: the Second Korx War. Although only the five ‘good’ races and the Korx were directly involved, no other race stayed truly neutral. The Snathi and Yor would be caught up in the maelstrom of event
The Drath Tri-Wing fighter. This is the first of a few Drath designs from my current game I intend to put up over the next few days.
The current meeting's been up for two weeks, and hardly anyone's spoken up. What's going on?
Can't you just load an earlier saved game, before you built the Stellar Forge? As far as I know there's no way to mod saved game files, and it might be dangerous to try.
Councilors, commander. My first remarks will be on the subject of our proposed trades. Firstly, I entirely support the trade with the Yor - the ability to fully develop our barren worlds is easily worth the price they request, which would be fair in any case. In addition, I consider at least some trade with the Torians well-advised, especially our proposed trade for Advanced Heavy Gravity Colonization. And of course, I agree wholeheartedly to supporting our po
You know, it is possible to mod the AI to fix most of the problems, though you'll only be able to use certain Race Personalities. See here and here for details. Just so you know, this really does work - I'm using a version of it myself.
I preferred GalCiv 1's months as well. Aside from anything that's been already mentioned, it struck me as unrealistic that my civilization could go from a single planet to a sufficiently advanced species dominating the galaxy in, at absolute most, 12 years or so. GalCiv 1 struck me as somewhat more likely.
Well, I guess this explains how we got to that interrogation in the preview. Another good chapter; it will be interesting to see where this goes as all three results seem possible. I noticed Aelytha's story doesn't match the actual events of the rescue; I assume she's lying to protect those Altarian gangster-types involved in it? The last line raises a good point: why isn't anyone concerned about jeopardizing relations with the Torians? Given the current situation they
