Thanks! I'm really curious about how to do this. I've experimented a little in the meantime, creating different [Skin Section_#], adding bitmaps, and seeing where it goes. In a lot of OB skins published by others, however, I see a great many sections that are empty, or default to the first skin style. No clue why. Thanks for keeping the thread alive, TSF. By the way, the quality of the skins your group produces continues to astound me <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/

As far as I'm concerned, ObjectDesktop was one of my favorite gifts this year. Productivity, eye-candy, and fun, all in one digital package! This stuff is worth so much more than the price!
I'm attempting a first go at creating an ObjectBar theme from scratch, and ran up against Skin Section #'s and #'s of states (mouseover, normal, etc...). I'm curious if these represent the alternate styles one can select from the ObjectBar configuration screen for a particular bar section? How do I use these properly? I'm assuming I can create a different set of states and apply them together, but do I need to have an accompanying Skin Section? Maybe I've gotten in wrong alt
QC will do nothing more than increase turnaround time and work-load. It implies that somebody, whether the wizops or a select community, is going to have to give a detailed look-over of function and feasability for each skin submitted, which is time-consuming. Still, if QC's the way to do it, then get a beta-testing group- at least they can share the burden. I agree on the comments scheme- we've got a great contributory community here that is more than willing to assist (kindly, at th
Skins that I've made for windowblinds and then used via ObjectBar (because I lack XP, and want to see how the Start Menu comes out) generally have tiling/stretching problems, particularly on the horizontal axis. For these, I generally have to use SkinStudio to tweak the resultant ObjectBar *.obskin file, and it works fine after that. Works excellently with other people's skins, so far. I can't figure out for the life of me why this is! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/notsur
I second that motion! Great program, small memory footprint, and rock-solid. Very easy to configure, run, and skin, functions fast, and looks great. The wharf's are well designed, and hierarchical. Never had to hit the forums to figure this one out. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/smile.gif" b
Everyone enjoy the holiday, the time off from work (or school, or both), and remember to play it safe! Oh, and eat heartily.
>mrbiotech, you stated previously that you use 1280x1024, I always >include that resolution in my work. >Which resolution are you referring too? Also, the need to keep zip >files small for dial-up connections is a prime concern (not to >mention keeping it small for the site itself). Aye, 'tis the truth, and I can't deny it... Small also tends to mean an easier go on running resources and usable speed, doesn't it. 1280x1024 still looks great, though! <img src="http:
JamMeister, many of us would love to have your work at higher res!
Does the same thing on my system, too. Whether I select YES or NO, the wallpaper gets applied all the time now. Kind of neat to see the wallpapers that people include, though. In the last build I had it disabled, and never realized that the backgrounds were circulated in the WBA.
The first week of the series was fantastic, but the last week left me disappointed, as though I had been... well... 'taken.'
1280x1024 preferred, but 1152x864 works quite nicely too.
Win2000Pro currently. Had Me, but it proved so reliably unreliable it had to go. Is XP-Pro worth the extra $100?
Doh!!! Still doesn't seem to work from home, although that cookie-killer app is a wonderful thing, Jafo! I've checked the internet settings on the computer to make sure that cookies were fully enabled, thinking that would permit me access to entering messages, but still not working. It's really strange! I've emptied out the temporary internet files folders, and erased any cookies encountered and retried logging in. When I log back in, everything looks like it should (my selected w
This is going to seem asinine, but whenever I log in to this site from my home computer using a dial-up connection, after I log in, the site shows that I'm logged in ("Welcome Mr. mrbiotech"), but displays warnings if I try to comment on or rate other's works. It also won't let me enter messages in the message board. This doesn't happen when I use my work computer. I'm sure it's probably just a local setting on my Windows2000Pro home setup, but I can't seem to discover which.
Hi-tech! . That's a bit of coding there, too!
Give me more Paul Reed Smith guitars, PLEASE!!!
OD is a very nice product, but Aston is EXTREMELY easy to use and configure. The shell is very stable, and does indeed use very little of the system resources. It's very versatile for what it is, although it doesn't skin Windows at all (although the swing-out side-bars are a GREAT idea). This was the first program I started skinning with, and really came to enjoy it. I eventually bought OD because of WindowBlinds, but I would gladly recommend Aston to anyone. <img src="http://images.
Octomperaneously, of course...
Y'know, DS, I've thought about your comments for a little bit, searching my own experiences here at WC. Despite several verbal scuffles between members (which appear, consequently, to be resolved), life's been good on the forum. When I first hit the message boards, it was with great trepidation, because I'm a geneticist, not an artist, and I had no clue how I'd be taken. The people here have been quite friendly, despite everybody's expertise in this area compared to my inane lack of a

SDPlayer has played mp3's AND WindowsMediaAudio files (*.wmf, *.wma) for me, and I wouldn't be surprised if it did more than that. It's a trusty program, that one.
