Thanks for the update guys. Any news on when we will be able to play/submit MV games with TA please?
It's probably going to be one of the last things that I re-enable so that it's as close as the final version as possible. I'm definitely waiting until after Brad's AI changes.
Can you at least try to allow two custom races, just two? Because i don't enjoy modding, plus it's unfun for me. And do the videos have to be bink because the internet connect
I haven't played TA in over a month and a half. I remember Brad talking about some super-duper AI improvements that were supposed to be implemented. Have these improvements been implemented? All I see in the patch notes are "TWEAK: Various AI changes."
Umm...I don't know. "Super-duper AI improvements" is fairly vague as well. :) It seems to me that you mostly want to play a build that's more like a gamma, so you may just want to wait awhile longer.
Thanks Cari, hope everyone at SD is feeling better. There was mention in another thread of this being the last expansion because you "weren't going to be able" to put out more expansions. Could anyone clarify why that is? I know *I*'d pay for one...
I can't say for certain, but Brad probably meant that there's diminishing returns on making additional expansion packs, the amount of work it takes to make an expansion pack vs the number of people who will buy it. It
*For the Scrnario editor: How about the ability to have 5 custom races and the ability to choose what custom races to play as and the same for opponents.* For the campaign editor, how about being able to select movies from your computer to use as intros and outros for missions
Well, it's not possible in code to have 5 completely custom races. You could, however, create your own version of the RaceConfig.xml file and put it in the mods folder and it should use the
Beta 6 is up!
I know that you guys have been waiting for this update for awhile, and I apologize, but we've had a nasty bug going through the office and as soon as someone recovers enough to come back to work, the next person gets it. I'm still recovering from it, actually, but since it's a viral infection only time will get rid of it. If you can't see the beta, try switching to US-1 as that's the server that gets the updates first, then it synchs to US-2. You may also need to Refresh
I don't want this thread taken over by feature discussions or bug reports, but I will answer your question.
Since they are Galactic Wonders, if a custom race with that tree and the Thalans (or another custom with that tree) are in a game together...the AI builds that factory/research/farm etc building just as the game is loading up...blocking you from placing such a pivotal building.
I just asked Brad about this and he's going to change them to super projects.<
Hi guys...just updated the original post. I've been out sick since last Thursday with an upper respiratory infection so we're not going to do an update this week. I'm back at work now but I've got some catching up to do. I'll keep you guys posted.
Anyhow, I kinda need to leave to do stuff. I don't have the time to send in that e-mail right now. Cari_Elf, if you still need the save, you can leave a reply, or send me a PM and I'll get back to you.
No, that shouldn't be necessary. I should be able to reproduce that.
By the way, does TA have a screen shot save feature? The options have something that appears to allows you to switch which format you use when you take screenshots, which implies it
I'm going to have to think about this. Changing the Super Ability or the Star System in the xml file could give you an advantage, although it would probably be slight. The other stuff is mostly cosmetic. Also, if you don't specify any extra abilities for the AI players, they choose their own bonuses. If they're not, it's a bug.
Yeah, it seems weird to me that in TA the Acreans have a negative speed ability, yet a negative ability is not something that can be chosen when customizing the races
I don't know if we are going to modify the ability options to allow negative choices. Even if we made them cost points instead of give them back, you could still nerf your opponents by giving them all negative abilities, and putting in a system to make sure that you can't nerf your opponents too bad
oh... ok.how about custom ships? or is this considered a 'mod' as well?
If the ships were created in game using the Stardock's parts those should be fine.
Is the Twilight Arnor still up for March launch? Has there been any news on ground combat or pictures about the new ground combat screen?
It's April, actually. The new invasion screen is in. There's not actually ground combat. The screen still uses the same mech
Shift+W is win, and it automatically ends the game with a win regardless of the victory conditions of the scenario. Shift+L is to automatically lose, if you want to go to an alternate track.
Have you guys seen this article about the successor to Stardock Central? http://tgnforums.stardock.com/?aid=174783
Not exactly, I am saying that in the new custom design window, I changed and saved the default templates for colony and constructor and the next game continued to use the default core templates. The system named the new templates Terran ship styl vs Terran ship style. I assume this just means the original core ship templates are hard wired.
The core ship designs don't actually use the ship templates; the AI designed ships (either for the player or for the AI) are the o
One of the problems I ran into is, many times you want a new ship designs to be made now.
The game actually detects whenever you get a tech by any means (stealing, UP issue, trade, etc) and does set the flag that new ships need to be designed.
2. Conflict of design philosophy I tend build my ships with a lot of defense when I can. Any ship I think is worth building should last a while. As such, you can probally understand why I was felling a bit nervi
In Twilight of the Arnor, there's now an option for the AI to design ships for you, so if you have Twilight you may want to check that out and see how it works for you.
I've been seeing some questions about some of my new features, the option to have the AI design ships for the player, and auto launch. So I'm going to go into a little more details about these new features than the change log went into. Auto Launch I'll start with Auto Launch because it's the simpler feature. We had the auto launch feature in GalCiv1 before we added rallypoints. It does just what it says: it launches all of your ships as soon
If SDC is showing the latest version installed but your titlescreen does not say the correct version, you can either try re-installing or you can edit the registry to force it to re-update. Here are instructions on how to edit the version string in the registry: First, close Stardock Central. Go to Start->Run and type in regedit. On Vista, type it in the search box. As soon as the registry opens, click on the My Computer icon and choose File->Export to backup
I've got a quick question. My install shows several items in Option as having "String Not Found". I'm guesing those are the toggles for the new stuff like AI ship builds. Do I have a corrupt install, or are these just not labeled yet? If the later, would someone mind posting what each toggle is? You could just post them in the order they show up. Thanks!
You should probably re-install, as it sounds like it didn't overwrite your screens.str file. This can happen if you h
It is by design that you can't upgrade ascension starbases.
If you have a save game where an ascension crystal is not accessible, please zip it and e-mail it to It is intentional that you cannot build additional modules on Ascension starbases.
StalinT, if you have a save game, your serial number would be saved into that, as long as you had entered the serial number when you installed. If you zip the save game and send it in to , I can check the save game for the serial number. However, I will expect you to immediately register the serial number if I'm able to extract it from your save game so that I don't have to do it twice. :)
Hey guys, bumping the thread because I updated it. We won't be putting up a beta today either because it needs more internal testing.
There are some people playing it on a MacBook with XP on it, but I don't think that anyone has tried with Vista yet. I can tell you that the people running on macbooks were having issues with overheating, so you will probably want to get a Targus Chillmat or some other external cooling device if you go this route. In the same thread, other users were of the opinion that even though it's running XP, there are still compatibility issues because the BIOS is meant for Mac. &nb
