Make sure that you have the latest drivers for your monitor. Also, go to Prefs.ini in My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor and change the DisplayWidth and DisplayHeight to match your desktop resolution and see if that helps. You can also try setting Fullscreen=0.

Please post Twilight bugs in the Beta Reports section. Also, this should be fixed in the next update.
Nope, I wasn't recording. I'll do it again some time in the future, or maybe have a real dev chat session.
I figured I'd better update this thread. I've been doing a bad job of removing the bugs that have been fixed, which means that we've had to waste time making sure that some of the older bugs were actually fixed. I've weeded out all the stuff that was fixed or couldn't be reproduced and I took off some stuff that I'm just not going to get to but those were fairly minor anyway. This is my current list of stuff to fix for release: High priority: Terror Star ca
In an attempt to cut down on some of the redundant reports, we're going to make a sticky thread for Fixed bugs and a sticky thread for Reported bugs. I'm not going to lock them, but please don't reply to them, leave that to Stardock employees. The idea is that we'll reply to the threads as they're updated. We'll update the threads from the forums and the bug database (and the support database for the beta testers who failed to read my post about how to submit a bug
Draknost, do the version numbers match in the error messages and what Stardock Central is showing? There's probably something wrong with your registry entries. If you go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE under Software\Stardock\Drengin.net\Galciv2, check the string in the Version key, it should be 1.50.128 or higher. Then go to the Dark Avatar branch and check the version string there.
Hmmm...I think that might be one of the pre-canned heightmaps that has been around since Dread Lords, because that does seem familiar. It might just not have a new texture yet. I think that I've fixed the second one though.
It was CodeCritter who was playing the banjo. Zoomba was the red head.
Hmm...I'm able to make medium hull ships in the debugger as the Arceans...but it's possible this is the bug that I fixed last night with the invisible ships.
We were having trouble with the launcher on Vista so we disabled it for now.
Hmm...it was working fine for me where it would let you go to the starport, although I did see the main screen briefly. I'll have to try it from the gnn though.
Hey all, at least until I get yelled at for wasting bandwidth, I'm broadcasting LIVE from my desk here at Stardock this beautiful Halloween! I've got the audio turned off for now so that none of us accidently violate our NDAs, but maybe we'll turn it on later when everyone has been made aware of the camera. <A href="http://
We're having some trouble with the TALaunch.exe on Vista, so that's why it's not launching the launcher from SDC. Did it install the icons in the Games Explorer for you?
Yes, you can post AARs and make all the people who didn't pre-order jealous.
We are very excited to finally release the Twilight of the Arnor beta! Not all of the final features are included in this beta, so that we can focus on testing specific features. To that end, please do not use mods while beta testing, as we don't want to beta test the mods at this point. Please post bug reports in the Beta Reports section of the forums. For further instruc
If you don't have SmartException installed, please install it from Stardock Central's free stuff tab and have it running with GalCiv2 crashes. To e-mail in the crash report, right click on the SmartException icon in the systray and choose Configure. Select the most recent crash from the list and press the E-mail Exception button. If you're having problems with installing GalCiv2 or with Stardock Central, or if the game won't start at all, please e-mail <A href="mailto:support@s
Hmm...then zip it up and send it in, it doesn't sound like the previous problem. Please send it to and also please zip and send in your ships folder from My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar. If you're playing a metaverse game, please send in the ships folder from the Metaverse subfolder of GC2DarkAvatar.
Ahh, that makes sense. Either of those apps will cause the GalCiv2 window to constantly refresh, hence the slowdown.
Well, the crash is probably due to obsolete ship designs. If you play a game without obsoleting any ships or overwriting any existing ship designs, you should be able to avoid this crash. You can still save your ship designs, just make sure that you pick unique names for them.
And I still cant access the metaverse...
xNaquada, Is it when you go to submit a game that you get errors, or do you get errors when trying to log in? Can you please e-mail me at with the text of any error messages you are receiving, when you are receiving them, and if the error is occurring when you are submitting a game, please zip the game and attach it as well.
For this update, we fixed a bug with obsoleting ships that was causing missing graphics and crashing. I believe that this fix will also prevent the corrupted save game issue for new games started in 1.80c, but I'm afraid that the current corrupted games are permanently broken. We also fixed another low res ship thumbnail. Hopefully we won't need to make another update to 1.8 for
I fixed a crash related to obsolete ships (it may also prevent the crash on load save game in new games) and fixed a low res texture on the starport. I'm planning on putting up some kind of post, but I've been working on Twilight of the Arnor stuff all morning and haven't even had a chance to eat lunch yet.
When you save a game, all of the data that was used to create that game, including ship designs, is saved with the save game and that data is used when the game is loaded so that updating the game doesn't ruin your save game because data values have changed, which used to happen in GC1. All the ship designs are loaded into memory when the game is first started. If you delete them from the ship design screen, they will be removed from memory when there are no ships using that des
Now are you sure there? I mean you get a new job and then move to Michigan too! Coincidence? I think not! ROFL
LOL, Kryo is not my boyfriend.
So who is he? (Not that I'm interested or anything but who is he?)
I'll ask him if I can tell you guys who he is. He may prefer anonymity to being challenged to duels for my hand.
Match.com? Seriously? The GalCiv2 forum crowd wasn't enough for you? You would have people practically begging at your feet for scraps of your affections... Now all you get is a 'boyfriend'. Ah well, some people can be happy with that, I guess...
LOL, well, we here at Stardock used to joke about contests for a date with Carielf and stuff like that but I never really advertised that I was single because I was worried that someone creepy would show up at Stardock H
