Those drivers still aren't new enough. HP doesn't have the latest drivers yet.
This is "1.8," which is really "1.7 non-beta," correct? Key being it's not a beta? I'm saving my beta issues for the TA beta
Correct, it's not a beta.
This is good stuff...I assume the passive ai bug that frogboy said was fixed is in this release? I almost feel obligated to start my game over rather than continue it out if its fixed....
Yes, it is fixed.
We find this act of murder to be beyond reason and call for all other federation members to publicly voice their horror at such a callous act!
I was attacked first! I swear!
** Major Changes ** + High Score List: Lets you keep track of scores on local games + New Governor 'Reroute Ships': Send All ships of a given type to a specific rally point.
If you try to get money from a cash poor civ during trading, you get pop-ups after the trade window is closed that claims that the player doesn't have enough money for the trade. So, two issues: the pop-up doesn't show up where you can see it while your are trading, and the information on the pop-up is backwards.
I've fixed this.
I fixed this yesterday.
Ryan, do you have any other options for your refresh rate for your screen? 59 Hz is a really odd refresh rate, and 60 Hz or better would probably work better. Also, are you using a docking station or another monitor or anything like that?
And if you save a backup copy at the same time you will always have a backup game to revert to, because the attempt to save a game without enough memory will result in the file being deleted.
That shouldn't happen with the latest beta, as I changed the way that games were saved so that it saves to a temp file first, then moves the AutoSave to the PreviousAutoSave.
What's really fun is running SH3 and GC2 at the same time.
It's generally
I'm finishing up a game saved under the previous beta, so I can't comment on this beta yet. But, I will confirm shiva7663's report that AutoArchiving isn't working on SDC. I just checked it for my setup and the last archives are for GC2 1.50.128 dated 06/13/2007. The AutoArchive on Application Update box is (and has been) checked. I don't know if it makes any difference, but I'm running Vista Ultimate (x86).
Hmm, that would make sense; SDC would be trying to put the a
I tried it out and it didn't help. Game crashes as often as before. Maybe it's of interest for you what exactly happens when this bug appears: 1. Some colored flashes suddenly appear for a split second, mostly while scrolling. (This is not always but very often the case.) 2. The game freezes and then the screen goes black for about 5-10 seconds. You can hear a lot of harddisk activity at this time. 3. After this the game reappears and can be played further on. It's not a total
If the save game was started in 1.7 beta 1, you would be unable to submit that game. However, if it was started in 1.7 beta 4, it shouldn't be a bug caused by the game.
Our primary concern with this update was stability and the out of memory issue. If you're hitting the 2 GB mark with your games, I highly recommend turning down the Planet Surface variety option to zero (this will help most if you have the heightmaps module installed). At this point, BoundsChecker is only reporting about 35 K of leaks, and I suspect that most of those are actually false
Ok, you'll want to delete English.str, then rename English.str.tmp to English.str.
Did you get a message from Windows that you were running out of virtual memory? To increase the amount of Virtual Memory available to Windows: 1) Right click on the My Computer icon and chose properties 2) Click on the advanced tab 3) Under performance, click on the Settings button. 4) Click on the advanced tab 5) Click on the change button 6) Change the initial size to the recommended size and then increase the maximum size. As a note, you sh
Hmm...I got the 4000 troops. Was the transport with the 8 modules auto-launched? If so, it wouldn't necessarily launch with the full amount. Also, if the planet it launched from didn't have enough population to support it launching full, it would only launch partially full.
Hmm, well if it happens in both DL and DA, this might not help, but you could try disabling the mixed vertex processing from the Options menu in DA.
There have been some reports of this. Please check your GalCiv2\DarkAvatar\Data\English folder for a file called English.str.tmp, which should be dated 10/1. Delete the English.str and rename English.str.tmp to English.str. If you continue to get the string not found, please send in your debug.err immediately after you see one to
It's definitely played in the fleet battle viewer, and it's randomly chosen from the 3 battle songs. When you exit the fleetcombat viewer, we have code that detects that there's no background music playing and so picks another song, based on current conditions, etc. You probably could just move the file. I don't think that it will cause a problem if it can't find it.
Cobra, can you please send in the debug.err for those strings? So far, all the ones people have sent in have been ones that show up in my copies of english.str and screens.str.
jstarz01, did you check your GalCiv2\DarkAvatar\Data\English folder to see if there was an English.str.tmp file that should have replaced English.str? English.str should be dated 10/1 and screens.str should be dated 10/4
CTRL+PRintscreen in Dark Avatar 1.7 will save the screenshot to your My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar folder automatically.
If you go to the directory where GalCiv2 is installed, all the music is in the Music or EventMusic folders, and DarkAvatar has its own Music and EventMusic folders as well. If you paste your debug.err here, we can see if Miles is returning any errors.
But you pay for it in extra mouse clicking, honest, Cari, and I suffer from carpal tunnel so its a real hardship, and I DO have to build an extra colonist to make it work, and...and... Heh, well there are a lot of other things that need to get done before I'd even consider re-writing the pathfinding code to accomadate this sort of strategy, so I suggest that you invest in a more wrist friendly pointing device. There are YouTube vidoes about how
The string not found is caused by the english.str and screens.str files not getting correctly updated. Check your DarkAvatar\Data\English folder and see if there is an english.str.tmp file with a more recent date than English.str. The dates for English.str and screens.str should be 10/1 and 10/4 respectively.
