+ NEW: Added standby mode for auto improve asteroids + NEW: Added option that is on by default to Unload Unused Textures. The unloading unused textures functionality has been in the past two betas, but I added this option because unloading the textures not currently being used means that they will have to be re-loade

So far, I have been unable to find the old records in the bug database about this issue, but I have another suggestion. In case it's due to the fonts, try re-installing the fonts using this exe: http://sd.stardock.com/mike/files/gc2-fonts.exe

Here I thought that was intentional. Paying off what you could, then taking a loan out for the rest. That's how it was supposed to work. But if you had a negative balance, it wasn't doing that. It subtracted the cost of the change from your current treasury balance (which made a larger negative balance), made that the amount of the lease, and then set your treasury balance to zero. Which essentially just meant that you'd be paying 10 bc pe

In Stardock Central, right click on Dark Avatar and choose Open Containing folder. This opens the folder where GalCiv2 is installed. Go into the Dark Avatar directory where the GC2DarkAvatar.exe is located. Right click on GC2DarkAvatar.exe and choose create shortcut. Right click on the shortcut and choose properties. Click in the target field and hit the END key. Hit the SPACE key. Now type the word SOFTWAREVP (no switches necessary

I checked this out and it turns out that due to logic bug, your negative treasury balance is being converted to a lease. I've fixed this for the next update.

If you are getting a crash that is happening during a battle, or immediately after a battle, please zip your most recent save game + debug.err and send it in to [email protected] along with a description of how to locate the ships involved in the battle in the save game. This will help me to track down this bug. Thanks!

What kind of ship was it? Do you have a save game before you made them give you all your planets? If you have a save game, please zip and send it in with instructions on how to reproduce the bug to [email protected]

Evil, Can you please send me a zipped save game with instructions on how to reproduce the freeze? I tweaked that code today, so hopefully it will take care of it, but it will help to have a save game to test with.

Yes, the auto-survey command is buggy. The first time I used it, it worked fine, but after a while I checked upon my survey ship. It wasn't doing anything. It appears that it works once, but fails afterwards. Hmm...I didn't try it with multiple ships. It sounds like something is cancelling the standby state. I'll see if I can track that down today. The only thing I've noticed is that two races declared war

I got strange bug, too. I upgraded a Medium Ship to a better version but instead of getting it made a strange devolution to a defender (or better it looks like one) with the name of the class to which it should have upgraded to. Oh, and the Logistic points said something like 173...37 (a very big number). After that I clicked on the ship, because I thought that I had caused it (somehow) and I got a trip back to my desktop ... Do you have a save game

Does this mean we can submit to the Metaverse without error now? Yes I have a problem when u click a ship than u click another ship the picture of the first ship appear on the second ship that I clicked. this happen alot for some reason. Hmm...I'll look into that. It might be calling the quick update function instead of the full update when you click on a ship. I've g

As you can see from the list below, we mostly concentrated on fixes for this build. As a reminder, if you get a crash that can be reproduced within a few turns, please zip and include the save game with the crash report and debug.err (which is located in My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar). You may need to go to Tools->Settings->Internet->Refresh XML Data to get the ne

When I am playing the campaign, the game regularly crashes. I think it has something to do with the autosaves. The savegames are empty (Files are size 0). I cannot reproduce the crash, but it happes about every 15 minutes. Have you sent in any crash reports with your debug.err file? If not, please do. Also, have you checked to make sure that you have enough disk space?

Who are these people who are complaining that it's too easy to beat the AI on Suicidal about which you speak? I don't know. I've been so busy that I only randomly check some of the most recent posts, or what kryo points out to me. Brad reads a lot of different sites, though, it's possible that people are still complaining elsewhere.

Also PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE (I'm on my knee's begging) keep the Right of Passage Treaty. I'm extremely against making ships move only once per turn. I play on Medium galaxies and I still find it tedious waiting for my ships to reach their targets, and I managed to talk Brad out of it today. So no.

So that's what this is all about? Well, ultimately it was about making it harder for people to win suicidal games, because I gather that people had been complaining that it was too easy, and Brad was under the impression that this was because they were using sneak attacks, which is a weakness of the AI. So the devs have just given up on being able to improve the AI's ability to deal with sneak attacks?! Ack!

instead of doing a move of 100 ps why not make it that the ship moves automatically out of said empires territory. like when your ships end up out of life support for what ever reasons. Because you could change those destinations and you wouldn't be able to attack anything ever if I added in code to prevent that.

Every time I hear this from a game developer I mentally cringe. Ok, I admit that I use this as a cop-out. I cringe whenever someone complains that something isn't realistic because I don't think that should be the definitive deciding factor. I wasn't so much claiming that it was more fun to move your ships 100s of parsecs away as objecting to the objection that it's unrealistic. The argument that it's far too gamey a

Again IIRC and with all due respect, the engine nerfage was supposed to fix the issue of sneak attacks which was *assumed* to be the predominate method by which people were beating the AI at the highest levels. As it turns out that is not really the case nor has it really fixed the problem because of the further assumption that people have worked around engine nerfage and still been able to sneak attack by simply parking ships near all an opponents planets and there

178 Replies 185,720 Views

But if a planet has built more than ten ships...? I was thinking of just placing them around the planet instead of actually in orbit, so that it wouldn't fill up the orbit slots, thus stopping production. I assume from the wording of the OP that implementing this option would allow at least a reduction in engine nerfage that in effect has been differentially more unfair to the large galaxy player versus the s
