Betas are NOT about you guys getting to see and play the game early. It's about you guys helping us to make the best game that we can based on your bug reports, suggestions, etc. If you're just looking for a sneak peak, you're wasting your time and ours signing up for beta 2.

Trade hasn't been enabled in the beta yet. It's coming though. Can you please send us the custom race file so that I can try loading it and see what's going on?
Actually, that does increase your range. I've seen it work. It might take a turn though. Also, the +10 is to your ability, not the number of extra tiles you can move.
I think some sorta ship addition should be available so that we could add some modules that will allow us to upgrade Colony ships and transports to hold more civilians/troops. If you add more colony modules, you will be able to add more colonists to the ship. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=#FFF394 class="mb-Body-
Yaguer, please don't call people losers. Name-calling, insults, and flaming are not acceptable behavior on these forums.
Please note that it's generally best to start a clean game when a new build becomes available as changes to the code may adversely affect your save games. Here are some guidelines that should help us deal with bug reports and suggestions: 1) Do not e-mail either bug reports or suggestions for GC2 to [email protected] . Make reports here in the forum, and if you have files that you need to send in, send them to
If you guys are still having problems with SDC, please e-mail [email protected] and give him a full description of the problem, with any error codes, and the version that SDC is reporting. Also, have you tried uninstalling SDC and re-installing it? 4D, you can sort the list by clicking on the installed header. The ones that you don't have installed will all be grouped together then.
Great.
No, you're supposed to be able to play without saving the race too. I thought that we'd gotten the last of the bugs associated with not saving the custom race. Can you please tell me what settings you chose so that we can try reproducing it here?
Yeah, fleets aren't available yet but I forgot to disable the fleet hot key. There's some code there, but it obviously doesn't work.
Yep, they did research it. They're the only ones who have it, and it appears that they're using old code to pick the next tech to research, so that will have to be updated.
planet screen - i think i'd like to see the ship build *and* the building build on the same scree If you mean that you want to be able to pick what ship you want to build from the planetscreen, I could maybe have it pop up the quickbuild list when you click on the current project's name. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center b
It could be that your drivers don't fully support DirectX 9.0c. Depending on what kind of video card you have, you might be able to get better drivers here: http://www.omegadrivers.net Scott may have other input after seeing your files.
Hmmm, it's using the same code as GC1 to steal a tech. If you e-mail me a save game file, I can check it out to see if the Drengin really did research it. Maybe they managed to research it out of order, or mabye someone who did have it traded it to them. The AI can trade techs among themselves, we just don't have the interface complete for you to trade with the AI yet.
One thing that you can try is saving the race before hitting done.
Right click is used for moving the ships on the starmap, so it would cause confusion at best to have the right button rotate the camera. I believe that all of the model view windows where you would want to rotate your ships have the camera control buttons that can be used instead. On the starmap, you can use the F1-F4 keys to change to default rotations.
Aside from working on fixing some of the more glaring bugs in beta 2, I've been working on optimizing the loading time for new games. According to our profiling code, it was taking 20-30 seconds to load a small galaxy. This, of course, was insane, and besides being annoying was nickeling and diming our development time. If it takes 30 seconds just to get int
The sales team was just moving into the new building today so there may be a delay, but I would imagine that they would get back to you on Monday. So if you don't have a serial number, you don't see GC2 in the list of games, right?
Jack, we used to have the window fullscreen but we changed it so that you could see the treasury and population, and access the button bar. Also, you could hit the turn button when viewing the planet window in GC1. When the turn button gets stuck, try clicking on your autopilot ships and reset their destination.
Is this true in the new build also? --Cari
It hasn't been coded to do that yet.
Plus if I just try and run GC2 it loads galciv2.exe and uses up 5k memory but does nothing else after that, just stays on the WinXP Desktop. Sounds like it's not loading the dlls, maybe you're missing one. Which dlls do you have in your gc2 directory?
Yogert, you can select Lookup Serial number from SDC to get your serial number.
If the turn button disappears when you're playing, try clicking on your autopilot ships and setting their destinations again.
I think that Brad mentioned that he had no intention to change the trading system from GC1, puting the development energy elsewhere. We have, however, talked about doing themed expansion packs for GC2. Like one for trade, one for espionage/destabilization, one for diplomacy, etc. So we could maybe add multiple planet trade routes
