Maybe the support for the events comes in a later beta level? Yeah, we have to go through and work on a lot of the calculation functions to handle the new planet system. Right now, they're all very simple until we get a chance to play with the numbers more.

Yeah, the lag in Ironforge is horrible. Is it just because there's always lots of people there? Edit: Yay for google! I did a search for what cause lag mmorpg and I found this article from the Game Developer's Conference: http://www.gamasutra.com/gdc2005/features/20050310/esbensen_pfv.htm If you can't access the link, it talks about a revolutionary new way to practically eliminate

The drengin probably have a planet quailty ability that raises the level of their planet while they occupy it, so once you conquer it, it the level goes down because your planet quality ability is not at high.

The best way to keep relations up in GC1 was to create trade routes with them, and to make sure that you had a high enough military rating that they didn't want to mess with you.

Hmm, I've been unable to reproduce this, but it could be some weirdness caused by the save game code. I've fixed a few things in the save game code and I'm not getting a crash when saving a previously saved game anymore.

Are you running in windowed mode or fullscreen? If you're running in windowed mode, switching to fullscreen should fix it. The game has code to translate the mouse coordinates from desktop coordinates to window coordinates when running in a window, and I suspect that it is what is at fault.

If you don't hear from them by tomorrow morning, e-mail me and I'll check with to support to find out what's going on, but I suspect that they're just really busy there because of the problems with SDC and the gc2 beta activation, on top of the normal workload.

Actually, we should have another build of SDC up today that will fix some of the activation issues. We are currently looking into compatibility issues between the activation code and Windows 9x. I'm really sorry about all the problems, guys, and I want to assure you that the team that works on SDC central and the activation code are working hard to get everything running smoothly.

Also, the 3D engine is not just for the graphics. The 3D engine makes it a lot easier and less memory intensive to add features like zooming, multiple resolutions, map rotation, and ship design, to name a few. GC2 actually takes up less RAM than GC1 did, and it has the benefit of 3D hardware acceleration.

Andrew Evans, I hope that you understand that if you hack or crack GalCiv2, you will be kicked out of the beta, and that we would be justified in bringing legal action against you. I understand that you are frustrated, but making threats is not going to help. I have documented this incident and I hope that there will be no cause on your part for us to act further.

The new SDC build has a new activate.exe in it which will hopefully allow you to activate GC2 without any further problems. If you have a firewall, please allow activate.exe full access, or turn it off completely while trying to install, update, or activate GalCiv2. Please make sure that you are using the California server. To set SDC to use the California server, go to Tools->Settings->Internet. If
