Sorry to drudge up this old post, but I am having this problem now since let Windows Update install IE8. As a temporary fix, I went into Internet Options->Advanced Tab and disabled visual styles for buttons and controls on webpages. I came here looking for answers and see that a version of WindowBlinds fixes this problem. Here come the questions... 1. According to the WindowBlinds Configuration "About" tab I am running WindowBlinds 6.0 (Build 49 x86 Vista Edition). In SD Ce

I think that in this day and age of myspace and youtube, you get the feeling that there's a whole "gaggle", "flock", "cadre" of uninformed people online th
I may be wrong, but Magatar (My dog Maggie's head shrunk down to an avatar) is the only one I've ever used on skinning sites.
Thanks for the manual fix!
Because there are several ways to customize that figure maybe hard to come up with.
Agreed! Customization for one person may just involved a new background on their desktop or a new mouse pad or the other extreme where every visual, sound and odor of the OS and desktop is modified and every known skinnable gadget, widget, gizmo, docklet, etc. is up and running.
400 80% Had the hardest time with the gears and pulleys. I'm no mechanic and I've never taken physics. Did take some basic electronic theory in school which was prolly the thing that let me pass this test. Thanks for sharing. I haven't taken any sort of test like that since I can remember.
I don't think that it's a requirement yet, it may be sometime in the (possibly near) future but right now for the most part I think skinners can still continue to author skins for a winxp environment and still have a large enough winxp user base to satisfy. I didn't say it was a requirement, I said "if you want to stay current". Skinning Vista is quite different than XP. There are other options that exist and the start m
You pro-Vista people still are missing the point. I really don't want to keep buying software over and over when a new OS comes out. I really don't want to upgrade every time MS thinks I should. Quit letting MS control your wallet! Anyhow... Thanks for listening.
You're welcome and yet again there's no need to bash a system and suggest folks who are using it have some kind of mental issue
Hey MySecret...thanks for the bumpage Hey Shelby, another familiar face, since I've come back. I was hoping not to have to fiddle with the skins, but suspected that I might have to. I'm using vStyler's Vienna Vista right now and everything works spectacul...err...super great!! Thanks for poppin' in and giving me a helping hand! Cheers, Essencay
Hrmmm apparently Vista Customization is an oxymoron since no one can answer any of my questions.
IconPackager 3.20.128(x86) installed thru SDC. I have the exact same thing happening on my pc, except I didn't notice it until I saw it here and I didn't attribute it to IP. I'm also running Vista Home Premium and the problem I'm having is that IP locks up (not responding) every time it's applying a new set of icons. As an example it happened when loading Icon-A-Day 1.1 by Mormegil. As far as I can tell the icons all get loaded, just the program locks up.
The last three systems I had, I built myself. I built each of them just about the time that MS came out with a new OS. The last system I built had XPSP2 on it and it ran pretty good. It was about 4 years old. Well last week something crapped out on it. My best guess was that it was the motherboard. My choices: Strip the case and put a new system in it; Piece by piece replace things; Go buy a retail packaged system from the local computer store (which I swore I would never do). I chose o
As the title suggests, I'm using WB6 and Vista. How do I shut off the the changing user icon when I mouse over different things (documents, computer, etc.) on the start menu? How do I shut off the start menu static user icon? How do I get Vista to stop asking me if I want to run Theme Manager when I click on it to run it? Security settings appear to be the same as Freecell...but only in appearance How ca
Thanks for the advice and info! To update my ODNT subscription it was only $35 w00t!....now I am overwhelmed 'cause there's sooo many different skins Running UniversalMetal2004 right now. One of my old favorites! Now I just gotta go haunt Essorant, who I know I got a bunch of stuff from and Pixtudio, who I think but can't quite remember I got a couple of things from. Cheers, Essencay
I'll hijack and ask this in the same thread....since it's about subscriptions I went to the registrations section of my WC personal page and saw that my ODNT subscription expired back in January of this year. There was still a link to download SDC, which I did, but the only stuff I can access is either shareware or not part of ODNT, such as ObjectDock and Natural Desktop. Am I right in thinking that the way ODNT works is

Haven't had the opportunity to see any of the newer skinner's stuff, but it was really cool seeing the names of the folks who've been around forever are still favs of many. Favorite WB skinners, off the top of my head and I know I'm missing folks....adni18, Pixtudio, essorant, Mormegil, SkinPlant, bubbabyte, Apocalypse_67, Z71....way too many to remember and list!!
Guess I'll be keeping that dog! I've been seeing all the cool avatars everyone is using and was gonna ask if someone could make me one. I've changed my mind and "Maggie" will stay right where she is. One of the things I can adjust on my monitor is the focus, by adjusting the clock and clock phase settings. Those terms may be unique to the manufacturer of the monitor (HP w2207). Has anyone had experience with adjusting these set
Familiar faces to come home to from work!! Thanks for dropping a "Hullo" here. Clear fonts. Got it set up and used the MS site to adjust it to my faded eyes, though for some bizarre reason over the last 10 or so years my eyesight has been getting better. Font size is good right now, just need to fiddle with brightness and contrast to try and see if I can keep things crisp looking without being too bright. For now, for
First off.......Hullo I have a myriad of questions, so I figured I'd just make a general post rather than a myriad of posts... Who's around that I know or perhaps might have a foggy recollection of who I am? I've been out of this scene for a couple of years, mainly out of focus in the real world. Currently I'm working on my third divorce and I must say I'm getting pretty good at it. It's the being married thing I fail mi
When WB5 with per-pixel frames was first announced, I was so excited. Finally I could try a few ideas I've had in the past that weren't possible. But for me, WB5 has been a disappointment..... I don't like the borders getting chopped off when windows are maxed, and a few other things. I've just update
