Yes, we all know we should have anti-virus protection on our machines IPlural. I personally also already use a spam filtering application, but without manually configuring it to recognise the messages I spoke about above it's pretty much useless for the average user in this situation. There's also the added problem that by filtering out the 'undeliverable mail' and assorted other mails, you lose the ability to tell if your legitimate mail has reached its destination. IPlural, you can take all the precautions in the world to protect your machines from the virus but, as has been pointed out countless times and seemingly ignored on every occasion, the only thing you have to have done to be affected by this thing is give your e-mail address to someone. The point is craeonics, you wouldn't know if you had been infected with this virus unless you had anti-virus software to alert you to the problem. I started a thread about this earlier today. If only people were a little more careful and would keep their virus checkers up-to-date, we wouldn't have problems like these. I'm still sitting deleting mails because of someone else's stupidity. I'm just lucky to have access to my account through web-based mail so I don't have to download all these mails before they get checked.

Well today alone I have now had over 300 of these mails, and they're still coming in a constant stream. At last check, if I hadn't been deleting them as they came in my mailbox would have contained over 25Mb of these mails alone! It's beyond a joke now...

The problem with 'bouncing back' these e-mails is that you're only adding to the problem by bouncing back a mail to someone who didn't send it in the first place. Probably about a third of the e-mails I received were 'returned' mails from people who obviously believed the 'from' address on the mail was the actual sender. Just delete any mails you get and make absolutely sure that you're using current virus definitions.

Believe me IPlural, I've tried absolutely everything you could imagine. I ended up with the monitor sitting at the other end of the room, away from any other electrical equipment, and the distortion stayed exactly the same. Well the nice people from NEC delivered a replacement today... and it has exactly the same defect! So it looks like this small distortion is common in that model after all. Not the best of endings, but at least I'm free of the grasp of the evil ebuyer.

Well it looks like NEC have saved the day. I had an e-mail this morning telling me to contact them by phone for a replacement. I also had a note from ebuyer, probably as a result of my strong words in my last message to them, telling me to contact NEC.
