@marigoldran All the devs ask is that you win a game on godlike. I for one don't see your strategy working at least, if you neglect military godlike AI makes short work of you.
Sure, whatever. Try my strat in good faith and see how it works. If possible, try it BEFORE the 1.02 patch. But it should still work with the 1.02 patch with loose star clusters, though not as well. Listed the strat above

Most people are very casual gamers and probably don't understand technical requirements very well. They buy a new laptop of the shelf when the old one breaks and expect stuff to work. You know, the kind of people that ask you for technical support when they install to many toolbars etc. 3-4 years for a new pc is way below the average i bet. Steam hardware survey is fun too (but that is a biased sample, the average pc is worse then that)
I am very skeptical regarding him winning on Godlike. Surely, he can play a game on say medium to conclusion and submit it to the metaverse. During GalCiv II there was always "that guy" who said how easy the AI was and when we finally get them to submit a game it was only because they had exploited the heck out of the game beyond any sort of resemblance and of course had turned off FOW. Play as Terran alliance agai
Non game question: What is the Processor frequency of Paul's computer? Does he over clock it? Great update on 1.03. When if ever, will we be able to ask an AI for Peace with another AI in addition can we every 'goad' or threaten the ai into declaring war on the (human) player? There are times when I really want to insult the AI player because he does the same to

I agree with putty. It definitely feels like your carry over points are lost unless you have a tech queued up. example: end game i can queue up techs and research 3+ per turn, but if i don't do that and switch to a different tech path, i can only do 1 per turn. Might be confirmation bias on my part tho, ill have to pay more attention to it. Same if i don't queue up but just select 1 each, a lot of carryover is lost then: it will take 3 turns to research them 1 at a time, vs 1 tur
Yeah. Well, once you get to 100 colonies with a power graph that's already twice as high as the nearest AI and still exponentially increasing, it's hard to micromanage to the end. Especially if you're pretty sure you've already won. I like playing on the larger map sizes. I haven't even had an actual SPACE battle yet because in all of my games so far I've effectively won before I even g

Bleh it says "player exist but not found on ladder" with just about anybody that posts on forums! Super annoying when stalking people. On the other hand you don;t have any victory achievements, so i guess you are one of those "it's to easy i cba to finish a game" kind of persons. On the subject of metaverse is somehow managed to get into the top 50 players, but i don't play that much, metaverse is weird thing.

My usual suggestion for military bases is a series of modules that increase planetary defense and possibly planetary defense fighters (but not resistance) in the influence of the base. I also agree that a military starbase, and possibly all starbases, should not be easy to kill. A heavily reinforced starbase should be on par with a planet to break, but reinforcing them to that point should not be to easy so not every starbase is that tough.
I think you never will be able to get a realistic time scale on a turn in a turn based game. If a turn is long enough to explain population growth, than there will be the question why it takes so long to build a small ship. However, I agree the short time span breaks immersion. Maybe they should go with something unclear like the stardate in Star Trek.
I think civs approach to it is pretty neat, with tu
We didn't release so many updates because we felt compelled to. Every game we've released has had rapid post-release updates as you may recall. It has nothing to do with the game being "finished" or not but rather more a case of Stardock being small enough to be able to put out rapid updates. As 4X games go, GalCiv III 1.0 was as stable as any other recently released 1.0 4X in recent years. That isn't nec

Steam is a monopsony (probably not the exact word but best i could find). If you are a new game company you MUST use steam or your game very very likely won't be a commercial success. The only companies that can get away with not using steam are the ones that were successful before steam became so big. And that is before you even consider the effect Steamworks has on the market. While i agree steam is very convenient and nice, i do with they had some real competitio

I just wanted to be safe rather then sorry with the mods. I doubt it's needed myself but you never know. My first attempt: -7 colonies -1 starbase, 1 shipyard -7 technologies -4 ships (2 scouts, survey, constructor) -42 faction power. I started of with buying a second scout, sending all my 3 ships toward a different star to scout, researched interstellar travel for the +1 move. Bought a factory on

Behold a glorious challenge to prove yourself worthy to Lord Kona! Let's see who can make the biggest baddest empire in a mere 25 turns! It is both a challenge for the bragging rights as well as a education session for those who might struggle early game. The prize will be a dinner at Lord Kona's personal table. I will provide a save game for everybody to use, on which you then play 25 turns, and then you can come brag here about your glorious empire.
