As far as I'm concerned, I don't really care. I want a challanging game, and if the AI needs to take advantages (especially at higher levels) to make up for what it obviously can't do.. (think and strategize like a human), then fine by me. I guess someone might be upset if the game 'cheated' in order to be a fun challange. To me, it isn't a big a deal. I'm in no way foolish as to believe that ANY game AI is even remotely close to what a human can do, as far as planning, being sneaky,

You are joking, right padlock? LOL No offense, but almost NO game offers what I would consider a good manual any longer. If you want to reference the 4x genre.. Space Empires IV. Cruddy manual, even in the Gold version. MOO3. Horrible manual. Heck, not even their Stategy Guide had the info you are asking for!! Lesse.. let's use other strat games (using ones I have bought, read the manuals adn played). Age of Wonders II. Horrible manual, and certainly doesn't cover what you ar

No doubt... :p I do NOT need to know exactly what is going to benefit me to the n'th degree, soil tech or manufacturing tech. I do something called *gasp*.. playing the game, and I find out. I suppose some # nuts might love all the nuts and bolts about exactly how the computer calculates income, AI, etc.. but for myself, I love to play a GAME. I like to get the soil tech and following techs one game.. see how it turns out. And then the next, I'll take another route to see which w

What techs are you referring to? The tech tree is the tech tree.. yes? Are you saying that some techs will NOT be available if you don't have a certain level of cerativity? Or a lessened chance? This would be good to know! Especially if you are using a tech tree made by a couple folks to plan where you are going to go.. only to find you hit a dead end when it doesn't give you an option to get a tech that was next on the tree. fleabitfox

I'm a little preturbed with this game right now. >:( When I puchased it, there was NO warning sticker.. no yellow and black caution tape.. nothing to alert me to the fact of what a TIMESINK this game is! Someone yesterday at work wondered if I was doing well, what with the black circles under my eyes. :p Very addicting game. Any piddling issues aside, it is an engrossing, fun and time consuming experience.. thank you! I think. LOL fleabitfox

Post this in the suggestions thread if you want it to stay seen. I think it would be a great idea. It not only is fun to watch, but for people like me (who often have 3 or 4 games going at once), it is helpful to go replay parts of the game to see what I was doing.. help jar my memory on my strategy for that game. fleabitfox

Yup.. some people think their own twisted logic absolutely justifies theft. Because someone was screwed up with an entirely different company, THIS company has to pay. Great logic.. not. This is what DEMOS are for. There is a demo coming out. If you can't be patient for the demo, buy the game. Otherwise quit yer yappin'. Nothing infuriates me more than someone who thinks warez is a legal alternative to a demo. It is not.. it is theft, plain and simple. But yes.. pirating

Could someone in the know answer this please? When you click on a ship, the mini map grids highlight, depending on what ship you clicked. What does this represent? For some ships it is less.. for some, more. But it doesn't seem to be their range.. for clicking a defender that has a range of 1 sector lights up grids further away than this. Unless a square isn't a sector? What *is* a sector, if it is not a highlighted square (not counting the grid squares, if you enable them). In fac

That is odd.. why in the world would it delete files in folder not related to the program whatsoever? Did you install the software in a folder rather than the default? I've never encountered anything like that in a software application or game in 18+ years. The *only* time I saw something similiar to this was when someone installed a game in a folder other than the default, and when an update or something was run, and it was cleaning up, it was cleaning up all files other than the lis

Just curious if there is a way to do this other than Stardock Central. I would love to have all edocuments saved to one location for future reinstalls / problems. The autopatch while very nice, doesn't allow me to save the patch. I did download the bonuspack and the 1.01 update (I'm guessing that is the release that was out with the game?). Or is the patch somewhere in the program folder, so I can just save it in my set aside folder with everything else? Thanks! fleabitfox

Could someone please tell me what the dotted lines are on this tech tree, as opposed to solid lines? Thanks! One thing is that on a 34x44 plot (which looks awesome on the wall.. a bit over 2 foot wide, probably 4 foot long), is that it is very difficult to read the black letters on the dark green background. At least from my chair. ;p What would be very cool for this excellent tech tree btw, is legend which tells what the solid vs. dotted lines are, and explains what each

sheesh.. this game could really use a detailed manual or strat guide! One that covers all the details such as this one. And other things.. like for instance, what is the # by the crosshairs highlighting a star system? Someone told me # of ships enroute.. but these sorts of things are not very intuative. A comprehensive guide would be very helpful. fleabitfox

Two more suggestions and I'll not pester this thread any longer.. for now, heh. Something that would be very helpful would be a way to click on a star system, a resource or a starbase (or even an enemy ship) and find out what ships are enroute to this destination. Perhaps click and holding the right mouse button over a destination, and using the wheel on the mouse (or some other useful key/mouse button) to scroll through all ships enroute. This would be very nice, IMO. The 'autopilot

Cool, thanks. Since you brought up the freighters, maybe you can answer a question for me Herve. :D If I am sending a freighter from my system to another (alien) system.. are you saying it benefits you to have starbases with trade modules along the route? Does the freighter simply have to pass by the starbase to gain a benefit? Or do you have it stop at each one? I am confused.. please help, thanks! fleabitfox

I've a simple suggestion that I would love to see implemented. I have no idea if this has been requested before.. I didn't want to read through 12 pages of suggestions (and there is no search). LOL Anyways.. what I would find very useful would be a function to simply turn off ALL autopiloting for all ships. A simple toggle.. 'autopilot off'. There are times (during a battle.. early in the game) when I would like to micromanage where my ships are going. Additionaly, in the ship li

Just a couple questions tonight for those in the know. I click on a star system (uninhabitated by any race), and there is a # 2 in the cyan crosshair cursor. What does this mean? Is it related maybe, to my next question? Is there an easy way to find out what ships are enroute to a given resource, star system or starbase by from that location? I.E. can I click the system or resource in such a way that will show me what ship I have enroute to it. I know there is an autopilot

Must be helpful having cable modem service. I've had a grand total of zero problems and glitches with the bonus back, updates, etc. Fast and simple.. no problems. muahahaa.. ;p fleabitfox

I think the random events are awesome. Just like life, many times things happen that are NOT fair.. and are unbalancing and screw you up. As well as help you. Works for me! The key is coming back from it. If you do, it makes the victory that much sweeter IMO. And the patch helped this.. woot. No complaints here. fleabitfox

The very best way to do this is to print them out with a plotter (the white background version). Looks wonderful! Maybe I'll make some plotter versions for people if they can't get to one themselves.. :D Good for putting on the wall for reference. fleabitfox

I believe MOO3 as far as a solid 4x game will be much more enjoyable in say, 6 months. If the devs don't drop the ball that is, and do not release the list of fixes they are documenting. Space Empires IV is now a wonderful game. Lots of micromanagement, but very enjoyable. Yet it was not nearly as nice when it was released. It required patches (and he was really great about patching the game) and especially mods (the AI is rather pathetic unless you utilize a decent AI mod) before its poten

Great review! I respect the Games Domain reviews. Avault is tops in my book (they don't do enough reviews however), and Games Domain is next IMO. Gamespot used to be up there for me, but they have gotten sloppy with success, imo (and a bit greedy). Gamespot sometimes omits features entirely from their reviews.. you wonder if the reviewer bothered to put decent time into a game, or finish it. That said.. getting a favorable review from Games Domain is great! Woot! flea
