Please stop it. :p What is the point of a 'The AI Cheats!' post? Unless it is a blatant bug that wasn't meant to be there, I don't see why the AI 'cheating' is even a concern to us, the gamers. Just because someone said "The AI does not cheat except in case 'X' and 'Y'", doesn't mean you have to go out of your way to try and prove it cheats in other ways. It doesn't matter. As a gamer, I want two things. Especially in strategy games of any type. I want the game to be fun

um.. ok, you are a genius, you are noticing 'cheats' MANY other veteran TBS, 4x gamers are missing. Dontcha feel clever? Or perhaps.. you are wrong? Couldn't be that huh? Aside from the obvious 'see see I toldyaso!' nature of your post.. the point is? As a gamer.. I don't CARE how the AI plays. Computer games MUST cheat if they want to be in any way a challange for a human opponent. As a gamer (and in particular a 4x tbs gamer) I want 2 things from a game I am playing. I want it t

I think it is a cool concept. You can certainly 'buy' influence in the real world, makes sense to have it in the game as well. A few techs, some money can lead to the influence from a race to tip a vote your way. Awesome feature.. maybe it can be integrated further somehow with a patch or mod in the future! For instance.. you can use them as leverage to force an AI to join you in a war, etc. I dunno.. neat aspect of the game, imo. fleabitfox

Avault usually though, is very dead on with their reviews. They don't put out nearly as many, but when they do, they are excellent. This reviewer in particular imo, is just not a very good one. I stil hold to my theory that he got the game.. and put very little time into it. That is what it seems like to me. People here know more about the game than him. How else can you explan not only errors in the intial review, but then mistakes in the *corrected* version. fleabitfox

Biased against Evil? I don't see this at all. You are substituting short term benefits for long term alliances. Simply a different approach. If several of my planets have a +14% production vs. a -10 percent or something.. that adds up. I've had races shoot me money when I'm evil just to keep me from beating up on them it seems. LOL It is very cool IMO, that this has been added to the game. Try putting all the AI's on a low level of intelligence, but make them all super good.. a

I have NO respect for at least THAT reviewer. How in the world he could give the hapless MOO3 a 9.2 boggled my mind. I love this ludicrous line: "and computer opponents so well-balanced that literally any of them could win" Yea.. right. MOO3 is a joke.. a bad one. I returned it before my 2 week grace period. I'm waiting for a myriad of patches and mods to make that thing playable. I feel the AI is terrible, diplomacy is broken (I get tired of hearing excuses of wh

I wouldn't let the ramblings of one guy bother you. Try heading over to the MOO forum.. 'tis a resounding discordant rumble with a few lone voices defending the game. It is the opposite here.. obvioustly the vast majority who play this game like it on its own merits. And for as supposedly intelligent as this Leto was, his review was just awful. A review takes into account the good as well as the bad. You can always spot a 'bitter' review with great ease. :p A 'forceful'

Also getting 'string not found' instead of 'leave' or 'accept' or whatever it was, in the diplomacy screen (april 7th update). And so I am unable to get the Arceans to accept my peace treaty offer (having them give me stuff to stop blowing 'em up), which makes me and them both sad. ;p fleabitfox

Stackable ship combat, ala HOMM series. If I have 500 corvettes, they should put a dint in a 10 ship fleet of dreadnaughts, perhaps taking out one or two. Single ship combat is neat in a board game sort of way, but more strategies would be available if you could stack ships in combat, or have to prevent a stacked group of ships attacking you. If this would screw up the game design.. I'll keep looking at single ship combat as a board game sort of manevuer.. I can live with it. LOL <b

I try to think of it more along the lines of a board game in this regards, in its current state. It is not realistic, so instead, I try to think of it as if it is something you simply have to keep in mind, and strategize around it. But I also believe that stacked ships would make more sense. Ala the HOMM series, you have a stack.. they have a stack. Depending on the # of your ships, and their strength, you may take out some of their vastly superior ships, and damage several more. An

I like JavaScouts site, but I gotta say I like ZaH's tech tree much better. He made the Excel file available, and I was able to mess with it even more. LOL His tech tree at least, indicates which are 'evil' and 'good' techs, as well as the level of 'good' or 'evil' you must be to obtain those techs. Yup.. if you are not eyyyvl enough, you can't have some techs! So get crackin' and kill all those sea critters and snag those slaves! muwahahaa.. I am actually going to try a

I am trying to make the Arceans pay me nicely to stop beating them up. But after I tell them what I want (actually, before that even), there is a 'string not found' message instead of 'accept'. So I click the 'string not found'.. and nothing seems to happen. The next turn, I was still at war with them. Anyone else with this problem, or have a fix? Thanks! fleabitfox

I agree with the first request. If you click on a colony ship, the system it is heading to is highlighted, but you have to look around for it. Alternately, you can bring up 'autopilot' routes (zoom in for easier viewing), centernig on your colony ship first. That is actually a quicker way to find out where it is going. It would be a bit quicker to say, right click on it to show its destination though. I've requested that in the official 'suggestions' thread. And not just for colony ships, b

How I did it was put all the songs I wanted in Winamp. Then closed it, and copied the winamp.m3u file from the winamp program folder into the playlist folder. Someone said you had to rename it to playlists, so I actually created that folder and put it there, to. I was to lazy to see which one was correct.. but it works fine. LOL Then turn on playlist in the options, and browse to the one you copied. ta daa.. fleabitfox

Good review? heh.. Leto's review is rather awful, I'm afraid. Graphics of 1? yea.. ok. I actually PLAYED game in the 80's, and no.. they are not even remotely similar. Games from the 80's: Star Control. Fun game.. horrible graphics, and of course, not even *remotely* close to this game. Nice try.. LOL PCGamereview is just a site of user created reviews, nothing more. They and EB's user reviews are a laugh. They either praise the game giving it a high score, or bash it. 99% of

Well, IMO, tactical combat in most games is hardly what I would call complex.. rather time consuming. If done well, it can be fun.. but it hardly mattered what your strategy was IN battle, to be frank. If you had better missles, weapons, armor.. you won. You typically knew the outcome of battles every single time in almost all 4x games. Certainly this is true with MOO2, MOO3, SEIV and others. The only TBS game I've played that I felt tactical combat actually mattered (that my action

"For most things he had praise" And if someone had mostly praise for a game.. how in the world could he come up with the conclusion that he couldn't recommend it? Ok.. to be specific, could not recommend it out of the box. Which is a copout. He doesn't recommend it. Yet he has all this praise for it. 2+2=4, not 12,851. It doesn't add up. fleabitfox

I agree, I think 64 corvettes would pose a serious threat to a single ship of any type. I think a great way to handle this would be as follows: When you attack (or the AI attacks you), you decide how many of the fleet are going to attack at once. If you have say, 15 corvettes, when you click the enemy, a dialog box opens that queries how many ships you are attacking with. If you select 8, then only ONE ship does the graphics attack thingie, but it calculates as 8 corvettes.

No, you should pay for the game because it is fun to play!! LOL As far as 'stacking the deck'.. cheating.. whatever, it doesn't matter IMO. As a game player, that stuff should be invisible to me. All that matters is: Is it challanging at higher levels.. is it easier at lower levels.. and is it fun? The answer to both is yes, so all his moaning is moot. The point of a game is to have fun.. not worry about how the AI got this or did that. If it is a fun challange, that is all that
