I WAS going to support your honorable legion.. until I realized Colorado wasn't offered a spot. Then I realized you were not honorable, but a bunch of slimey, ill gotten slugs! >:( Well.. I shall start posting my games.. but I need to do so under the Gone Golders.. I feel the need to support my fellow Golders! LOL fleabitfox

The Torians, although they will try to trick you with their 'ooooo.. we are good!' routine, are SUPER eyyyvl. I call them the Broccoli Heads.. with good reason! I just wish there was a 'hot cheese' tech! Then they would be sorry... >:( Actually, the damned bark/pipe heads (and I don't meant the Yor) have been the pain in my side. fleabitfox
I've used this strategy at least up to 'intelligent', but not above. Since the AI gets an economic bonus above intelligent, they well well buy those social trade goods before I could make them thru this strat. But up to intelligent it works very well. You can try to deviate a little.. (for instance, research the tech to give you say, fusion power plants before you research the trade goods), but you may pay later on. LOL I've found there is very little leeway.. if you don't want to
oh.. and just for the record, no.. I don't think the minor AI's cheat. I didn't know they got benefits the majors didn't get, but it makes sense, since they typically don't expand at the same rate (and you wouldn't want them to!). But you can strategize so that you still get trade goods first, if you plan well.. which is the point of a strategy game. LOL fleabitfox
You can get several trade goods before any race does. I almost *always* get tri-blah steel, frictionless clothing, aphrodesiac and diplomatic translators before the other races do (on large or larger maps). I posted a bit on the strategy forum on how I did this. Here is how I manage it at least: 1. Crank military and build colony ships and a couple scouts.. (taxes at around 50, spending as much as I can). I have research at 15% typically at this point, and learn comm theory by step 2
Any chance anyone is having any luck with any new ship sets? I would love if some of the many existing sets made for games like SEIV were converted for use in GalCiv. If someone would provide a step by step tutorial, I'll do some. LOL fleabitfox
Awesome.. I think I'll start submitting some games finally then.. ehrm, now that I am finishing some. LOL One question tho.. are games that are STARTED on an older patch submittable to the Metaverse? I've dutifully updated my game, but if someone didn't bother to say.. update after the Shazam! setting was implemented, and is winning games with the PQ bonus, do they take? Just curious. As an aside, I talked my friend into getting this game. The lamer went and edited that fi
um... ok. Considering the original poster is comparing it to MOO (I can only assume MOO3), it is rather a joke. Look.. this game isn't trying to be Chess or Go or anything else. It is a very fun, enjoyable game. It has a very promising future, with the expansion and mods. If it isn't everything YOU want, then that really is your problem *shrug* Oh.. you don't think different settings matter? So you play the exact same game on say, intelligent.. as you do on normal and on genius?
First off, yes.. if someone devotes more time to something, they SHOULD be ranked higher. If I spend tons of hours playing, I most likely am now more experienced than you (if I am winning games). Higher scores are for winning on higher difficulty levels, on bigger galaxies.. makes sense to me. The scoring system might not be perfect, but look.. it is hardly for money or anything more serious than bragging rights. Who cares? The most fun IMO for people should be joining a tea
"This is a great game, and I will be buying the expansion. But, it would be nice for a company to help out in these situations, since it could make or break future purchases. I don't like the fact that companies go to such extreme measures to stop hackers." Well, I *am* glad you got the game working! LOL I think one thing you and everyone has to remember is that this is a first in anti-piracy protection. It is the first scheme that does not punish the actual buyer of the gam
How does one edit their account information? That is really all the info this guy needs. Go ask the guy who traded it to do so, giving him the info.. you are set. There is no way you should be ABLE to register yourself why he stays registered. There is absolutely no way for Stardock to know if you now are both getting updates and support for 1 sold unit. So find out how to edit account info.. send the info to your trading bud.. all set. That is fair, and makes sense, end O
That *is* a good question. For example.. I am with AT&T Broadband. They are selling (again), and my @attibi.com email WILL change. I think it is good for a period.. then *poof*. There should be an option (I would hope) that someone who does have the game can email you from their current valid email addy, and ask to have it changed to something else. That at least makes sense. Then, if someone trades the game, they just kindly give the email addy for the person they traded it to, an
Yup.. if you have the jewelcase, you have the serial #. A Gone Golder held back the goods?! >:( I would ask for the ENTIRE game.. and then you can play and update. Perhaps he sort of traded.. but KEPT the game, and plans to keep playing and updating? hmmm.. fleabitfox
Well, war party gives you 50% right off. Getting another 250% via techs, anomolies, etc.. is hardly a reach. Especially on larger galaxies. And why NukerDonkey do you feel you must have the entire mechanics of this game mapped out for it to be enjoyable? It is pretty simple.. the AI can only do what YOU do. So learn to improve your ships HPs and attack, and you will know how your enemy did it. It is not that complex really.. there are at least 3 excellent resources for techs (2 bei
Don't have time to dissect the reasons right now, but I can betcha if a dev had your savegame, they could easily point out exactly how the Drengin (who are certainly biased towards getting the best war stuff quickly) got the ships they did, as well as the techs.. and they would be perfectly legal. LOL You would be surprised how effective the AI can get techs, war equipment, etc. That isn't to say there isn't a bug or something.. but not likely. Techs, starbases, wonders, trade good
As for #2, having it the way it is makes the game more challanging for one, and more strategic as well. If you could set individual planets to whatever, you could *always* have a couple/few planets doing trade goods or wonders.. a few others giving up their social and military projects to help research get done quicker, and a few planets with the ship improving shipyards, etc. cranking out ships.. and would rather screw up what is a neat feature, imo. Having to decide empire wide what
Yup, awesome tool! One thing I was wondering (I didn't notice last nite.. it was late when I messed with it), is there a way to increase (if even slightly) how often Events occur? It would be a blast to say.. make many smaller effect events, and make them occur much more often. Or *decrease* the time between events.. making a huge one that may well change the outcome of the game. Would be neat.. if this feature is in, please lemme know, thanks! And thanks for the har
Perhaps creativity? I believe this affects the ability to get either morality based techs sooner, or perhaps in this game, the opposite ones entirely. Are you certain one of the minor civs doesn't/didn't have it, and when they overthrew them, they got it? Perhaps luck combined with creativity combined with a takeover of a minor world.. yeeaa.. that's it! LOL fleabitfox
There is a link to it at least on Gamespot, that I saw today. Perhaps there! :D fleabitfox
Make starbases in every sector along your trade route.. add some protection. :D You can do this.. and upgrade them.. and be a trade mogul. I am trying to do this on my current game. fleabitfox
Thanks CariElf, it would be muchly appreciated!! I know you are probably incredibly busy, so thanks for considering it. It drives me nuts, especially in the later portions of the game, to try and keep my ships going where I *really* want them to go! :p fleabitfox
MOO3 does have depth, i'll give it that. Not necessarily well implemented depth, but depth all the same. LOL Just playing it the little I did, I could see that. The key is to make efficient development plans, so your viceroys are not making inane decisions on your behalf. But there is a rather lot of micromanagement considering their goal was to vastly reduce it. When each planet in each system has different zones that you can make DEAs to maximize their output, and you can have
Please look into this Devs.. pretty please? LOL A simple option to turn OFF autopilot in the main menu would be SO nice, if no other autopilot option are going to be implemented. The autopilot drives me nuts. If you finish moving a last ship without autopilot on.. ALL your autopilot ships then move.. even if I don't want them to. Also, if you double click on a ship with autopilot in the fleet list.. it moves. *grrrrrr* What would be optimal imo, would be a button
Something akin to HOMM would be nice, imo. Little markers each turn to show how far each ship will move based on its moves at the beginning of the turn, with each marker having a # that indicated the turn it will arrive there. i.e. first marker is (1) (reach that in one (this) turn), then (2), etc. I would like this very much! Additionally, something that would be VERY nice is some way to find out WHERE each ship is going by clicking on a destination. Shift-right click for example,
There are some good early game stategies in the strategy forum (look to the left), you might want to check out some of those ideas. I typically by the time I've met all there races, and almost all the good planets are taken, have an edge in most categories, except military, and sometimes a bit lower pop (which I quickly catch up on). At least, up to intelligent I can do this. LOL fleabitfox
