Well, if you are like say.. He-Man or Teela or something, then you probably *would* be the Masters of Orion. They are after all, the Masters of the Universe. So mebbe the game is geared towards that particular group of um.. Masters. Or something. fleabitfox

um.. remedial, to. I need some remedial spelling lessons. (:( fleabitfox
Sorry, the original post reeeeks of trolling. I think some people need redmedial troll recognition training. ;p Hmmm... lets ask about the 3 options that MOO3 *does* have. geee... But on the off chance this is a serious post... GalCiv has no multiplayer. If you require mutiplayer, then do not buy GalCiv, 'nuff said. Get MOO3.. and be very patient (and wait for the code patch.. and the magical, yet to appear redone manual). This is a logistical strate
Yes.. if you are eyyyvl enough, or good enough, your interface (and robot) changes. fleabitfox
It allows you to skillfully replace critical ingredients in any dish you are making with excellent substitutes (e.g. sea-salt as an anchovy substitute). Being 'creative' is the skill that will make you the culinary envy of all the other races! um.. remind me not to post here after being fuzzy on nyquil. :p fleabitfox
the eyyyvl interface is SOOO cool..muahahaa. I've only seen it um.. many times *cough* fleabitfox
It is just a reality.. there will be a few strong ones, and many weak ones. Check out the real world. How many super powers are there? A heck of a lot less than countries on the planet, that's for certain. With only 6 possible races (you and 5 others, not including the minor civs.. which, btw.. when aligned, can be annoying and occasionaly nasty), having 1 super power is hardly unrealistic. What would be unrealistic is if it was ALWAYS the same superpower. It is not. I've had all
yup.. the blindness. no one said it was every easy being good... *sigh* ;p fleabitfox
Actually, I would most certainly buy MOO3 (and will.. thankfully at a nice low price! LOL ) down the road.. again. Even SEIV was a bit of weak AI mess when it first game out. Now, with Gold and the mods, it is excellent. With mods and patches, I think that MOO3 will be a great game. It won't be a classic hit, imo.. simply because they screwed some stuff up so badly, it annoys hte heck out of me (playing 800x600 on a 21" monitor is just.. silly). But the engine is deep and p
If you look, I think you can find pretty much all the devs names there, as minor races I believe, as well as star systems. The Scottilingas, the Wardell, the Carinoids (CariElf), etc. LOL Their names shall live on in infamy.. :p fleabitfox
I've noticed while trying the different sizes that it is a huge diffence with each type. It is very cool, I like the variety! Mr. Frogboy.. just out of curiosity, on a medium map, do you play with all the other races active? On a tiny, small and medium, what # of other races do you play against at once? Just curious! On small, it is a colonize-fest with all the races active.. not easy at all! fleabitfox
oh.. and about your original complaint.. I don't get it. The AI is superb. Yes.. quite often a dominant race will get an advantage over the rest. But it isn't always the same race (Drengin often are powerful.. but not always. The Altarians are giving me fits lately), therefore (since all the AI's have their own script), I would say it IS balanced. For a kick, make one race genius at one end of the morality spectrum, and then make the rest a bit dumber on the other end (and join them
"Interstellar, the point is that government programs don't stop in the face of focusing one one goal or another. What I'm saying in general, is that this isn't so much a strategy, as it is a trick. A trick that works, but I feel it is too effective." It is effective, but less effective at higher levels. Additionaly, there is a point of diminishing returns, so you are penalized by 1. not completeing social or military or research by cranking up 1 of the three, and 2. you are get less
I don't think you can add techs. CariElf said this is not possible. Is there a way to modify existing techs? I would like that! I don't think this is in yet. fleabitfox
I absolutely agree that it would be cool to be able to add and remove techs and anomolies. Perhaps techs and anomolies, if added, would negate adding your score to the metaverse. I would be ok with this! Adding some neat techs would be fun tho, and would prolong the life of this game indefinately, imo. Anomolies that have NEGATIVE impact would be cool as well. As well as anomolies that once studied, triggured a major event. With perhaps the conclusion of 'you can stop the horrible m
Here is the shark ship set.. anyone want to try to make it work with GalCiv? :D http://diesel2035.free.fr/ Also there are a couple other nice ship sets. Here by the way, is a whole bunch of ship sets created for Space Empires IV by other authors: http://diesel2035.free.fr/hosted.htm I think most or all are downloadable (I downloaded the shark set.. but I have a little less than no clue what I am doing with encoding them.. I have a bunch of bitmaps..
I think I might try something tonight for fun. I think all the races other than the Drengin will be lawfully good (including me).. and the Drengin will be their normal self of course. I'll crank them a couple intelligence clicks above everyone else. Want to see how an everyone vs. the Drengin battle turns out. LOL fleabitfox
Well no wonder the Drengin are peeved.. you all keep misspelling their races name! I would be cross to. >:( heh.. anyways, the Drengin don't always attack me. But this last game it is other races that give me a hard time. I've had almost equal troubles with all, in fact. The Torians (aka brocolli heads) can be nasty, as can the pipeheads.. (yes, both races). Anyways.. the Drengin have a bully / extort / attack philosophy. They can be manipulated.. muahahaa. ;p <b
Ah.. it is a sales technique! Those pushy ship salespeople sure know how to make a sale. "Suuuure, it cloaks!" I hope it is implemented soon. LOL fleabitfox
ah.. duh. Thanks! :D fleabitfox
Well supposedly (I'm just starting a high espionage game), you can steal more techs. And stealing techs is good. LOL fleabitfox
About government.. maybe someone can answer this. I am playing my 'gee i'm wicked and eyyyvl' game, where I am going to try to bully and war my way to victory. I've decided since my approval rating was fair (around 75 to 80%) that I could up the government to Republic (or whatever the first after Imperial is). So I do so.. and my BC spend rate went intantly negative. From +18 or so to -75 bc's from the change of government. I thought 'hmmmm.. ok, perhaps after the el
Yup.. the dark purple systems (which are rare), harbor high quality worlds. I found one once (quite a bit into the game, all other yellow systems were colonized!) that had 2 class 26 stars, a class 17, and a class 15. Not shabby for one system! I went to war over that system. There is another type of purple system that apparently has a much higher influence rating. Some of that ancient technology you know. So either or both of those systems showing up after you research ano
I don't see this as a problem at all. This is a GOOD thing. Why? Perhaps not on the Metaverse.. but if a great score isn't the only thing you are trying to get, the option to either start: 1. In a great spot and cruise to victory or 2. Start in a very hard spot and work for a win is a benefit.. not a drawback. Those who are learning the game or enjoy winning without as much challange will enjoy using option 1. Those who are winning handily and love a ch
I think frequent updates are much more sensible than infrequent ones. It does not matter HOW much testing a development team does on a myriad of fixes in their game, it is absolutely guaranteed there will still be issues. The sheer # of things people try will drum up something they missed, or someone will take advantage of an invented cheese based on a new 'balance'. If you've a dedicated dev team like this one (and truth be told, this is the MOST attentive customer response I've seen
