Wonders were great in Civ, esp going into the city screen and seeing just the base of the pyramids... loved that. And then the cut scenes were nice as well. I don't get the same feeling in Galciv. It just feels anti-climactic I suppose in comparison. Which is too bad, I mean these are `Galactic Wonders'!!! But, what could they really do about it anyways? News sheet blurb kind of thing (if you have news networks - and different slant depending upon what gov)? Fun, b

I agree with you all... esp the dancing girls... However, a lot of what we are seeing are AI fixes. But it has also been mentioned that the developers are focusing on what is wanted most by the public. My point with multiple polls is that there would be a clearer indication of what is found the most grievous exploits, etc.
I disagree with allowing targetted strikes to stacks. It doesn't make sense to me. I understand being able to say, go after that ship, but the opposing controller of that stack would by the same token be saying `defend that ship' and keep it behind other defenders...
Ok, I've seen over and over again people talking about such and such exploit and saying it is a killer. I've seen other people saying not to use it, blah blah or Frogboy say that it isn't a game player priority. How about we get some numbers? How about polls somewhere to ask the players what are the important things to fix? eg. Do you want us to focus on trade issues or strategy? or Which is more important to you: trade/strategy/tactics/diplomacy? or<br
Use the one from diablo 2? That's what I did... well, not really... ok, not at all. Geez.
Sounds like it isn't finding the songs. Only time I've seen an mp3 player madly scroll through the list like that. Try putting one of the songs into the C: and see if it picks it up... maybe.
I have to agree. I didn't use the feature that often, but I liked that it was there. I just finished a game where I was about to win culturally but didn't want to so I demolished a few starbases, and a couple dozen turns later I won culturally anyways... sigh. Annoying when you are on the verge of accomplishing something else. Fun, but... bump.
Just a query. I had two battleships grouped together, I attacked a planet with that and they both died - it seemed together. What happened? I expected the first to die and then to decide what to do with the second one...
I had this `wonkiness' also. Victory animation, hit esc (I believe) and the victory information was split with the next turn attempt in 5 or 6 vertical bars, alternating between each of those screens... Buggy. Haven't tried for a repeat. ~SDC~
"-- Make it impossible or exceedingly difficult to sell techs without some form of diplomatic agreement. (do you see countries sharing techs in the real world with non-allies?)" I like this possibility. Certainly being able to trade with a race you were at war with was rather questionable. But of course it requires more diplomatic relation options a la MOO, with non-agression, or similar... or a la Civ it would require an embassy on their planet. Limiting the number of
Even better, invert their direction, speed of -1. So whatever direction they enter the sector from, they get pushed back... I bet that came up as a bug at some point...
Personally I ignore everything else and go straight for the most questionable choices that the AI made in the given screenshot. It doesn't matter to me that the player can get Xtech later and trade better etc. I don't see that as the prime issue here. The tech issue is aside to what appears to be something more broken. Putting it simply. There is no rational reason why the AI should refuse a deal that exchanges money for money where they benefit. That alone sa
Now that's a good question waright. I can understand wanting to know how it was done. But again, the first thought shouldn't be `cheating'. I'd like to know also how that jump happened. Or at the very least to be told that it was within the bounds of the game rules.
I see what you are saying Waright. But I disagree with your assumptions. And it's never nice to assume bad things without allowing benefit of the doubt and a defense by the party involved. You are seeing things that don't look right and hearing stuff that passes those off. And it sounds like sugar coating on a cheat/undocumented feature. And you think they should come out and say, the AI is cheating here, here and here. Because we all know and they have said that A
I must say that I agree with the fact that a lack of chokepoints etc results in a loss of strategic options. That cannot be refuted. There are no chokepoints, this is a strategic option not available. The computer can run straight for your planets and you cannot entrench a position that requires them to pass through, they can go around. In this it is more akin to the naval aspect of CivX. There are no chokepoints available in the middle of the ocean. Yet, in n
"Again, this thread was not created to try to document the cheats, but allas it is de-railed... I wish frogboy answered the heart of my post not the irrelevent examples." OK. But you cannot have a meaningful discussion of alias' to cheats if what is going on is not cheating/balancing issues? Agreed? You have to nail down the specifics before it can be said, "yes, this is the computer cheating", "yes, this is a bug", etc. Agreed?
"See a pissing match... its stupid... all because ppl love frogboy and and want to defend him at all costs from the evil people saying this game cheats.. see what I am getting at?" No, I don't. I mean I know what you are saying, but I don't see that happening here. We just want clarification so that if there are `cheats/bugs" whatever you call them they can get addressed. That's not a pissing match, it isn't defence. It's wanting a good game to get better. Jus
Understood, however, you didn't offer much in the way of evidence IMO. Hence my questions. #3 clearly fits your bill of cheating called another thing (explained away and accepted). Other than that, there is no indication of what you are saying that might not be dismissed under investigation as being within proper game mechanics that are available to you and I, or as a bug yet to be fixed.
The computer micromanages/optimizes like a god... that's why it's a computer. 1) not sure what you mean by this one. If you simply mean to ask for money and get it... maybe, don't know. 2) I don't know if you can say that it doesn't hurt it's economy. And by saying it is a `guess' you aren't sure either. 3) Yes, I agree, this is a `cheat' but one that was out and out said by the developers. Why they felt the need to give the computer this, I don't know. But it's minor
True, that is extra information that the computer has that you don't. However, because you can see the location of planets on the map I haven't found it to be annoying. My initial grab tends to be only a few planets, preferably (obviously) with multiple decent planets in system.
Thought it was a great idea for a game, but for me it bogged down into a `fastest finger' kind of adrenaline click fest as opposed to a puzzle. Maybe I was going about it wrong. Great great idea though.
Not sure where you got that idea from. Haven't heard or read from anywhere that it gets any bonus' other than the economic ones at the highest 2 difficulty settings. Other than that, it's all the same stuff.
Isn't the why and the wherefore beside the initial point? That being, the program says that there is a large advantage due to the player's diplomacy and the player isn't seeing that effect.
No. No. They are going to a `better world'... Of course all their friends are happy for them. In other words, I find your lack of faith disturbing.
Oh man, that just made me think of Battlestar Galactica...
