As long as you want the desktop icons to be the same size, here's what you do: Click on the desktop. Press the Ctrl key and scroll with the mouse wheel. The icons will get bigger or smaller. Choose whatever size you want. Note: This does not change the icon-spacing grid, so even though the icons will be smaller, the spacing will be the same.

Oh, and another thing I forgot to mention is that the Start Bar icon flickers. This happens even when transparency is working properly. I was unable to capture the event with a screenshot because it is too quick, but essentially the Start Bar icon vanishes and is replaced by black (or perhaps the wallpaper, which is black at the bottom of the screen) but then instantaneously is replaced. Okay, this is difficult to explain, so I took a bunch of screenshots. A picture's worth a thousand words, right? I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate, SP1. For the majority of the time since Vista came out, I've been using the Aero skin, with really only "glass" color changes to match wallpaper, iconpackager and objectdock changes. Just thought of one more thing that would make for a great Ultimate Extra: A ribbon customizer for the Office 2007 apps. I know, it's not technically part of Vista (but rather, part of Office). Still, how nice would it be to rearrange some ribbon groups or add new commands and entirely new groups? Tons of ideas... But no Extras!

I don't know what's so incredibly bad about the Start menu... but maybe that's because I use ObjectDock for most of my program-launching activity, and my interaction with the Start menu is now limited to searching or accessing the Control Panel or the Run dialog. I guess a fly-out, cascading menu would be better than the nested list, but I don't consider it THAT bad.
