I have a question for the community at large. Over the past year that I’ve been reading Lifehacker and other productivity sites (like 43 Folders), I’ve noticed a number productivity apps for the Mac OSX that are just friggin awesome. They really seem to be well thought-out and really "fit into the workflow." For example: <span style="font-family: "Times New Rom
This discussion is about the Ultimate extras. Anyone who bought Ultimate for the extras is/was an idiot in my book. Those who bought Ultimate for the featureas of Home Premium + Business may have made a good choice (based on thier needs).
I actually did buy Vista Ultimate for other reasons, and I'm not disappointed (although I admit that performance enhancements via SP1 are needed). I actually like Vista a lot. I have no problems with it, now that drivers are mainstream
Where's the buggy product? I've got the necessary hardware and have been using Vista for a year and i love it...much less buggy than my experience with XP. [...] I've found Vista much more stable, less crashing, less rebooting than XP.
I agree completely. I rather like Vista and prefer it to XP for just about everything. Sometimes I think the performance lags a little, but I feel that SP1 will really help in this department. The intention of this thread, however, was
MS doesn't care about Vista.
Well, you may be right, but I hope this isn't the case. I don't blame MS for working on "the next big thing." Maybe Windows 7 will be to Vista what XP was to Windows ME. Maybe Windows 7 will be "Longhorn: As It Was Meant to Be... and Then Some" But all that is years and years away; and we are here, in 2008. Many of us are using Vista; others are sticking with XP. Surely, MS will work at improving Vista while we wait for Windows 7. SP1

Terrific work!! Too bad I can't run WindowBlinds without Explorer crashing repeatedly. ([link="https://forums.stardock.com/?forumid=167&aid=171382#1416385"]See here for more info[/link].) Otherwise, I'd be running this blind all day!
Windows Media Player 11 gets skinned (title bars, etc.), but nothing paints on the inside. That is, there's no listing of songs, no album art, etc. The entire window area remains black.
Whoops. I meant to write that the entire window area remains blank, not black. (Actually, it remains white!)

Oh, hey, where's WindowFX Vista in that list? Please don't forget about WindowFX! Many people loved that program. I even wrote about [link="https://forums.wincustomize.com/?forumid=191&aid=166992#1354130"]a few really good ideas for WindowFX for Vista[/link]. Hope to see some comments about these ideas, and some recommendations for others! Long live WindowFX!!!

One problem that I had previously persists with the latest build of WB6 in Vista: Windows Media Player 11 gets skinned (title bars, etc.), but nothing paints on the inside. That is, there's no listing of songs, no album art, etc. The entire window area remains black [correction - The entire window area remains blank, not black. Actually, it's white]. The only way to get around this is to totally exclude wmplayer.exe from skinning. Then, WB can run on the rest of the system, and WMP

I think Stardock is doing a great job. I've been a paid subscriber for years, and will continue to do so. You're right that Microsoft has been under a lot of heat for Vista -- and some of it much deserved. Consider Vista Ultimate Extras (or lack, thereof). What a [link="https://forums.wincustomize.com/?forumid=386&aid=155128"]catastrophic failure[/link]. You don't even hear about it much anymore, because people are tired of complaining. Clearly, Microsoft dropped the ball. Mayb

Hi, everyone. I remember when Civilization IV came out in 2005, it was hailed as one of the best strategy games of all times. I didn't buy it, or even play it, back then. But recently, I saw the release of an expansion pack called "Beyond the Sword," which got great reviews and looks very cool. So, I was wondering what you guys think of Civilization IV now, a little over 2 years after its release. Is it still worth getting? Specifically, * Do you still play

I don't think a 'ribbon'-like interface would lend itself to Photoshop as well as it did Word, Excel or PowerPoint. But I'm sure Adobe will figure out something cool, as they usually do -- And then we'll all be left drooling, wishing we could afford the new version! Btw, I like the interfaces that Corel uses in its Painter and Draw applications. Maybe something more like that?
