I recommend you post with a more descriptive subject. Please don't take it as a personal attack. Everybody and their brother posts "Question" as the subject and it doesn't help get your question answered.
Tigershawk
I believe they're based in Michigan, USA. So, you'd probably need to be willing to move there. ~SDC~
Hey, I see colors fine and I get confused between some of the minor races and the Yor and Drengin. I don't know how you spectrally challenged players do it :) ~SDC~
Seems like the LCD screen makers would address this issue pretty soon. If they can't scale accurately, why don't they make it so that the 1024 screen is applied to the 1280 screen, but smaller than full screen. ~SDC~
Excellent Brad! Hey, and for you people not on Dregin.net, consider the $30 upgrade a purchase of the expansion pack. It sounds like it will be worth that. And I must say that Stellar Frontier is a good game to play too. ~SDC~
Without Stardock Central, go to www.galciv.com and click on the downloads section. ~SDC~
Christopher, Download Stardock Central from the GalCiv website. Run it and set it up with your Serial number. Go to the Software section and download the manual. ~SDC~
Any person who has to deal with software users directly certainly deserves either some compassion, praise, or prosaic. ;p ~SDC~
Oops, doing this looks like it causes you to lose your game score records. Oh well, for me it wasn't a big loss. ~SDC~
The following is a post that clued me into a possible reason why my Metaverse scores aren't posting. I've been blaming it on the 1.04 upgrade, but its true that I purchased the Drengin.net upgrade at about the same time, so that could very well be the problem. Hope this helps someone else. :) Quote from another thread responding to another quote: #6 by Citizen Freddybear - 5/29/2003 9:07:45 AM "I recently purchase the drengin.net upgrade from Gal Civ."
Personally, I think that the AI's gang up on the human too much. I only play on the lower difficulty levels as well. The game would be a lot more fun if the human could play with the ai's more instead of always being against them.
It would be great to play with the computer, but at some point you're in a competition with them to win. The exception to this might be allies of course. ~SDC~
That would be "The Corporate Machine." If it is what you say, I'm sure it doesn't belong there, but it might need to stay for consistency reasons. They probably copied some of the TCM concepts and just left that stuff in there. ~SDC~
Ditto to that last post, and please people, put something besides "Question" in the subject. Its not very descriptive in the vast ocean of posts. ~SDC~
My 450 uni is kinda slow, but I can't complain too much because they rated the game for 600. I'm glad it runs at all on your 200. I still can't think why it takes so long to move an 8 frame 2D bitmap around, but I think you're going to have to live with it. Programs are going to be written to run on a target machine, and you and I are now below the target. Turn off as many of the movement animations as you can stand.
Maybe purple atmosphere reflects more ultra-violet light, making people get fewer sunburns. :HOT: Great! Now I've contributed to the forum chaff. :SURPRISED: ~SDC~
Yes, it is Stardock only for now. The standalone patch will be its own news item in the future I'd imagine. ~SDC~
Rob, I think the background loading goes on during the title screen, and during the New Game options screen. Its stuff that has to happen anyway to initiate a new or loaded game. Once you're running a game, I don't think its supposed to have any affect on processor usage or memory consumption. ~SDC~
Well, in all seriousness: You can get ticked too. All they've done is make it so you can't cheat as easily, and isn't that what everyone is asking for? ~SDC~
I think one of the developers said that destabilization is like espionage. You need to spend quite a bit to have an affect, which means you have to give it some time to build up in as your spent money accumulates its affects. :notsure: ~SDC~
You can do the same thing with the ship list. Double click on a listing and it centers your view on the ship. ~SDC~
This should answer your question Nexworks:
The AI is multithreaded and makes use of hyperthreading. The undocumented feature you're talking about in prefs.ini has to do with making the interface itself hyperthreaded.
~SDC~
Fifth, It might take some time to address all the issues that you're describing. For now, if you don't use cheesy tactics, then the loop holes won't be an issue. :SURPRISED: I can understand it would be difficult, knowing that they're out there, and if these really are issues maybe it would be nice to clean them up. However, I wouldn't want all the development resources thrown at these issues that few ever see. :notsure: ~SDC~
Just heard that the download isn't right. Try again tommorow I guess. ~SDC~
Haven't done anything weird to my installation. I'm showing full download size for all the updates. If its not messed up for you too, 1.04.003 looks to be available. ~SDC~
It was not a time issue. Brad has said that some on the team wanted to include that, but he didn't think it was a good idea because it took some of the guess work out of it. He said he realized later that it should be included because some people would appreciate it. I'm paraphrasing from memory here, so hopefully I got that right. ~SDC~
