I have Drengin.net and I'm downloading the patch thru Stardock version 0.99c 151 build 4. I got the full 85 megs version also, but I'm almost finished downloading now, using the Atlanta server. Hah, there's my message that GalCiv has been succesfully updated. Out to play that means :) ~SDC~

Asking this on the GalCiv forum, what answer do you expect? ;) I think GalCiv is the way better game. The AI amazes me every game and I'm still playing on normal difficulty and getting creamed. GalCiv has a very extensive techtree and some real nice ships like the ones you just mentioned. Besides that, new ships will come out constantly as we'll be seeing a shipeditor real soon.

Go away you pirate! And don't come back or do so after you've bought the game! I hope people are wiser than to fall for such an obvious trick. Don't send this guy anything! Maybe a moderator can delete this thread.

Yep, I managed to ally up with the Torians and win the game thru alliance victory. It was me who offered the alliance so dunno what's wrong with your game. Maybe you must have a friendly relation before you can even offer an alliance? BTW I have the patch and bonuspack installed.

Yesterday in my game (alls AI's on beginner level) the Torians completely tore up the Yor and Drengins. I was lucky enough to maintain peace and later an alliance with them so that I could end the game with an alliance victory, but I'm pretty sure the Torians didn't need my help. At one point I even tried to save the Yor by sending them ships, but the Torians were just too strong. The game I'm playing now (normal difficulty) the Altarians are king of the universe. I'm at war wi

Planetary defense could be nice yes, but there's so much more you can do against them transports. First you can intercept them and shoot them out of the air, before they even reach you. I'd say your space ships are mainly your planetary defenses. So just make sure you defend your mainsystems well (defenders, battleaxes and hammers and starbases with upgrades give you the right odds). Second if your tech is good there's no way the enemy will take over your planet so easily with

Wellcome to these boards! CalCiv IS excellent :) I just finished my first full game today (played for over 6 hours straight) and I had a blast. Won thru a diplomatic victory being allied with the Torians. The gameplay is different from MOO3, luckily ;) It's more like civilization in space with a great AI and diplomatic system. ~SDC~

I'm from Holland too. I'm playing the game for a few days now (that is, I HAVE the game for a few day but hardly have had any time to play it) cause I ordered it through Drengin.net. There isn't a European distributor yet, but you can order the cd online and start downloading the game right away. So if you have cable or adsl this is a GREAT option to get the game. Go get it... although I now read you don't have a creditcard, that might pose a problem.

With your tactics, playing the game like you do is one thing, but can you actually win such a game? Staying in the game and not losing it and actually winning it, is something completely different. If so upload your tactics to the Metaverse so that the developers can use it to improve the AI. Like Dave I had the impression from the gameplay examples Brad posted that the AI would react to influencial buildup by a human player. Are you sure you're playing the latest version with

Dave: Thanks for the great explanation, this makes good sense! Udius: Thanks, I haven't had very big morale problems yet (since I'm still in my first game of beginner and haven't had much time to play, which is going to change tonight! ;) ) But I'll keep your advice in mind.

I would like to know what the effect is of loading few or many citizens in a colony ship. Will the new colony have higher morale with more citizens? Will the new colony start with a higher pop? I haven't been able to figure it out exactly so maybe you guys can help me.
