At which level are the AI's when you play 'challenging'? I've seen this happen also with the AI's set on normal but since eventually the AI came up with ships that wiped out those starbases I thought this to be related to normal difficulty. I suspect that the AI won't do this at intelligent difficulty.

Sometimes a system doesn't contain any planets. You can sometimes colonize on some blue, orange and green systems too, but it's way more likely that the yellow systems contain all the good planets. A yellow system contains at least one 15+ planet. I was very lucky yesterday stumbling on a purple system with a 24 quality planet!

T-man "So, the gc1.xml did not exist but SDC was showing that a previoius version of GalCiv was installed? Is that correct?" Correct, SDC was saying it was perfectly installed (and it was) but when updating it started to download the full monty. "Also, from the best you can remember, what were the previous steps you had done to install/update GalCiv?" Hmmm, I installed it right away from SDC on the 25th of March (I bought Drengin.net). Didn't archive it first, just

That should work Grifman, did the trick for me. I'm at work so I cannot check but I think there's more than just the playlistfolder. There should be something named music I guess. It should contain mp3's and if not, you should reinstall the mm. Good luck!

Check your directories. Is the music still there? After I downloaded the update (it did the 85 meg for me) I lost all my music, my directories were empty and I had to redownload the multimedia. After that everything was fine and this morning I updated to 1.01a.031 and it just downloaded the 1.03 mb file.

Hmm, this smells like an exploit that needs fixing. I wouldn't even think of such a devious plan. Selling scouts to the AI would never come to my mind, but it's good people find out these exploits. I bet the developers never tried such tactics too. I find it extremely cheesy to use such tactics, so I will never use them even if it's possible, but some people probably can't resist and go on winning all their games like this to get a high Metaverse score. Harald: The AI doesn't cheat, it buys colonyships and you should do that too. I usually buy at Mitrosoft. Besides that you should up your spending slider to 100%. No problem to lose money every month since you should have some spare cash. Your military slider should be upped also in the very beginning of the game so that colonyships get produced way more quickly. I usually have the military slider on around 60%, 30% research and only 10% social projects. When I have eno

If these patches are made available via a simple link on a website, every pirate can download it and install it over his warez version. Since GalCiv doesn't have any cd protections it's easy as pie for a pirate to play the full retail game for free, unless of course they connect a serial to the downloads if that's possible. ~SDC~
