Read this thread (it's a sticky!) http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=23261 Minimum specs are a PIII 600, so I think you're out of luck, but when the demo comes out, you can always try of course. ~SDC~

Ah a question asked on every self-respecting game forum. I'm 27 (almost 28), a semi-old man ;) ~SDC~
I'm far from an expert, but it looks like the SDC didn't install your game right. Maybe you can try to do a reinstall. ~SDC~
If need be you can create a boot.ini yourself in notepad. It should look like this: [boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect ~SDC~
No that's not possible. I don't miss it since I always picked standard designs in the MOO series. In GalCiv you get standard ship types, like starfighters, battleaxes, frigates etc. But there's plenty of variety, don't worry about that. And with the release of the game we already got new ships in a BonusPak. ~SDC~
Great SvZurich ain't it? Just when I thought I had to wait another day, there it is now! Pace isn't brilliant at just over 20 kB/s but it's better than nothing. This is going to be a very short night as it's 1.30 AM for me and I have to wake up at 7.00 AM, but I'll HAVE to play GalCiv first. I'll play the core while the bonuspak and multimedia are still downloading. ~SDC~
For betatesters and for Drengin users. I bought Drengin yesterday and what luck, I'm already downloading GalCiv!!! :) Woohoo and tomorrow my new flatscreen monitor arrives too. Gonna be late for work ;) ~SDC~
That makes sense but they pointed me to a download link for the Drengin.net gamemanager when I subscribed yesterday. My guess is that they are awaiting the version 1.0 release of SDCentral (at the same time of GalCiv's release) to really replace DGM. Should happen tomorrow I think :)
37. In the supermarket, you're swearing at the cabbages that they're only worthless green planets, you walk slowly past the oranges before you jump upon the lemon's trying to colonize them.
Hehe Sith have your hypertravelled to the future recently ;)
Brad (aka Frogboy) has stated the demo will come in April.
Already played a game of TCM last night. Had to get used to it, but man is it fun! That should keep me occupied tonight :)
The Drengin.net gamemanager does the same, I subscribed to Drengin.net yesterday, but the SDC is way more up to date and it has way more options so I don't think I'll use the Drengin.net gamemanager anymore.
LordTheRon is still fiddling around with his newly acquired Drengin.net playtoy. Blimey 2.00 AM already, time to head for bed. Only two dayzzzzzzzz ~SDC~
While we're at it, I would love to see on what difficulty a game was played too.
And here's the proof, I'm putting up my first message from Stardock Central :) ~SDC~
Behold... I have decided. It's gonna be Drengin.net. Read some reviews and the manual of The Corporate Machine and it looks like a great game also.
Absolutely true Rusty! I still play Disciples 2 every once in awhile, looking forward to the expansion packs. Same goes for AoW2 IMHO. Still playing that a lot (PBEM and online, gonna play an online game now actually). And now comes the great GalCiv, life is good ;)
No, sadly I was too late to sign up for the beta Charles. I'm waiting and waiting, just killing my time at the forums and like you making an MP3 playlist. Two days of work and then on Wednesdaymorning dutch time it's sign up and download time! Did you get Drengin.net Charles? What would you recommend, just GalCiv or Drengin?
Yep and it's great that we get to download the game and play it from day 1 and for a very reasonable price too! I imported Disciples 2 from the US and it cost me about $ 75 in the end!
Great read Charles :) And a fellow dutchie on the forum is always good. I live in Dordrecht.
Hmmm you might be right DarkHelmet ("Why ain't I never notified about these things" ;) ). I might be a bit too enthusiastic here. Though I would love to get the occasional AI spanking it might be wise for my confidence to just take it a bit easier and hopefully survive on beginner then.
With the game becoming available in three days, what will be your game settings for the very first game? My political alignment will be technologist, since I think I can really use that research boost during my first game. Points will be spent in research (2), espionage (2), trade (3) and population increase (3). More research and I think I can you the trade boost to get some economy going. I don't know about my abilities (bonuspak) yet, since I haven't got a clue what
Sounds like a really good concept but I wonder how the AI would react to those individual sliders. Could be hard to implement them so that the AI makes good use of them. But let's hope that Brad WILL comment on this, so that we know if it's possible to add.
Ah ok, I thought it wouldn't even get a single boost at the highest difficulty levels. Still Brad had some big troubles even defeating the AI on intelligent so like you I think that the intelligent level will be quite a challenge for a long, long time. And even then the AI gets improved by the metaverse topplayers tactics.
