the game is indeed SOOOO GOOOD. no, scrap that. It's even better. ~SDC~
Branko
Do you devs want such an MP3 to test with the game? Just let me know and where I can upload it. (right now I just use winamp to play mp3 during the game. Works quite well :)) ~SDC~
gurrrrrrEAT game! The most fun TBS game I've played in years. LOL ~SDC~
I meant:"If you unzip AN archive to the temp dir...." fyi: I used this on the multimedia pack of Galciv, and on the media and addon packs of The Corporate Machine. After installing all the packs of galciv I created a new archive of that dir (rightclick Galciv, archive, selected app & extra files) for easy reinstalling later. ~SDC~
If you unzip and archive to the temp dir of SDcentral and then just press install SDC will try downloading any file not already in that temp dir and then install. If your archive is complete that means it will not download anyting but just install. Works like a charm for me. ~SDC~
I agree with your idea Ackattack. My hint was just to keep you going until it is implemented ;) ~SDC~
a Pentium 2 isn't quite the same league as an Athlon 1Ghz ;) Since this game is using multiple threads for the AI, does the AI get 'smarter' when more CPU power is available? ~SDC~
Gnite! Sleep well! ~SDC~
Frogboy, I just entered my Email addy on that page and indeed got an email, but it only contained the link to SDCentral but no link to a retail Galciv. This is probably due to my Drengin subscription rather than Galciv-only buy. Anything I can do about that? (no hurry I managed to get the game running so it's just for my 'nice collection' to get this one too :)) ~SDC~
When a planet is not producing anything it is still expending resources for this non-production, which is fairly odd. As mentioned before it would be nice to be able to stop production or even use production to make money. This combined with planetary sliders would be awesome. ~SDC~
Ackattack, your first request is already implemented. Just click at the top of the queue on the word 'military project' or 'social project' (IIRC) the currenc project in that list is then displayed between the lists. I myself would find it very useful to be able to see these details when editing the governor's build list. Right now in both screens where I can edit these lists I can only see the names of items and later in the game I cannot remember what items do what and what they cost.
yeah I see that mouseover effect in SDC now, but I didn't see it in Opera.... yes I know I'm one of those rebellious Opera users. :p ~SDC~
l3codecx.ax 12-12-2002 00:14:32 l3codeca.acm 03-03-2001 02:36:48 L3codecp.acm 28-05-1999 15:13:34 The distortion you mention Ardrikk sounds a bit like what I hear on these mp3 too, but it doesn't happen with the Galciv music for me. The 'high bitrate' files I mentioned are well over 160kbps (192 or 320 even) These files do play fine in MPlayer or Winamp. I do have an example mp3 that has this effect which I could be able to share with you for testing but it's 8.3 Mb so I
haha :) Now THERE'S a bug worth mentioning. A bug that is not considered a bug at all LOL ~SDC~
btw: Frogboy, isn't it about time to go to bed for you? Perhaps? ~SDC~
If you can stil be unhappy with Stardock after an offer like this, you REALLY should get a refund ;-p ~SDC~
I've noticed that some of the mp3 I've selected for playback sound very very odd when playing them within GalCiv so I'll probably just end up playing them with winamp while playing. Especially files with high bitrate or variable bitrate seem to have this problem. Is there a limit on the bitrate of files that can be played by galciv? ~SDC~
btw: If you really want you can expand the *.ex_ files with the command 'expand' in windows. so "expand intro.bi_ intro.bik" will get you want you want but I wouldn't advise doing it by hand on every file ;) ~SDC~
Kakupacal, I have been able to install from archives partly. I also read in another post that you can use your archives in another way too Just unzip the archive to the temp directory of SDC (check Tools-settings-advanced what dir that is) and then click the normal install button for the respective program/update. SDC will then only download the files that are not already in the temp dir (and all should already be there) so the install should start normally. I hope that help
I'm really glad that I forked over money for Drengin. I've hardly been playing this game but the customer service from Stardock is just sooooo amazing to see and experience that it's already worth the money :) ~SDC~
I did that last time but it didn't work. ~SDC~
yes I do. the last time (the logs I posted) I used a full redirect to my computer but even that is no guarantee. So it might very well be that that is the problem. Hence my question: do I need to open a specific port in my firewall for it to work? ~SDC~
BiggyBoy is highly impressed that Frogboy can read a "TCPIP thing" in those logs. ~SDC~
oh dear. It does make sense tho, since it does crash when trying to communicate with Metaverse. ~SDC~
BiggyBoy is glad to make Frogboy happy. ~SDC~
