I just logged a win too, a measly score, but we're movin' up. 15th at this time. Senator... I like it :) idle ~SDC~

"We surrender human. But just for spite, we will surrender to the Altarians!". OMG, I can't stop laughing! LOL That is awesome. idle ~SDC~
In my game last night I was floored by what the Altarians told me while I was ramping up to wipe them out militarily.... If you like to find these out on your own, don't read any further... Otherwise, maybe you've seen this, maybe not, but this was my first time hearing this after maybe 10-12 games... Possible spoiler below * * * * * * Ok, Like I said, I was ramping up my military and moving them into position to remove the Altarians from p
Citizen B L Let's keep the left-wing politics off the boards, Jeff. Citizen Bilas Yes I agree keep your Left wing, liberal nonsense to yourself! I'm with B L and Bilas. ~SDC~
I appologize in advance if this has been posted... What about giving starbases a 'sphere of influence' so to speak. Rather than limiting an SB based on the sector it is in, give it it's own bounderies. The range could be the same, but just centered onthe starbase instead. I can't help but think this was considered initialy and am wondering, if so, why was it removed? idle ~SDC~
fleabitfox has a good idea. I'd like to know what the AI is building but it should only come as a result of espionage. However, if either the player or the AI is in the top 2 in the influence catagory, perhaps building projects should be known as their culture is so far reaching. ~SDC~
#2 by Citizen playshogi - 4/11/2003 10:55:12 AM Thank you, but it's not practical for me to leave my computer on all the time. Otherwise, every time I load the game I risk losing a planet. I would guess that the same holds true for the AI. When the savegame is loaded both you and the AI are back to a 'neutral' influence, then after a few turns the modified values are calculated. If the AI doesn't suffer this 'game math' then I agree. ~SDC~
Indeed... I recall a thread a while back proposing that JavaScout's GCDatabase be incorporated into the game somehow. I'd love to see a gal'civilopedia' incorporated in the game. This would be awesome. idle ~SDC~
I'll agree with Dearmad here. You're spending a LOT on maintenance and military. Take some of those ships and sell or trade 'em. And you should contact those minors and sell them your tech for monthly payments. In my current game I can usually get 75-200bc's for 15-25mo. This will give you a nice year or 2 with some good income. Also, consider contacting a race you're close with and pay them to attack an enemy, then tribute them some of your fleet. With a little luck you
yeah but they only get the bonus while the little trade ship is in the sector with the starbase.
So then a better idea would be to load those 5 starbases in every sector with military bonuses to 'protect your freighters enroute... yeah? idle ~SDC~
Za H, the xls file is awesome but how can I print it on a single page? this file is breaking down to 36 pages? Is there a way, in Excel, to resize to fit on a single page? :notsure: idle ~SDC~
http://www.adrenalinevault.com/news/displaynews.asp?story=472003-85431 Not bad for a game with the worst AI ever! ;p idle ~SDC~
*bump* Jeff, hows this coming along? idle ~SDC~
I was just thinking about starbases and trade routes. Lets say you make 3 freighters on a planet, you send them of due north, 5 sectors to your neighbor. Now lets say you build a starbase in each of those 5 sectors in between and load them up with all the available economic bonuses. All those bonuses stack, yes? Now that I think about it more, just build those starbases in your most populous sector, then all trade from everywhere would get these bonuses... Just think
OH SURE!!!! Blame it on the time change ;) idle ~SDC~
I'd like a civ3 style trading system too, however, I was unaware of the text color changing with the AI's potential yay or nay on the trade. I'll play with this tonight, as it could potentialy shave lots of time from my trading. :) ~SDC~
I'd ask the players in higher AI intelligence games what they think. I would imagine on higher AI levels you'd, potentialy be shooting yourself in the foot. All those constructors require production facilities, money and time. How well is your defensive fleet production going when building these SB's? Not very well I'd say, and on a higher level game I'd bet the AI would smack you around a bit. All pure speculation on my part, I'm still playing on beginner and dont use SB's too much
Thats right! I'm in contact with a lawyer friend and we're drawing up papers to sue you and yer dev team! No warning on the box about loss of sleep, appetite, relationships and time? You're gonna pay for this pal! >:( If a bunch of fat kids can sue McDonalds because they're fat... :d Well... Then you're goin' down too! ;) idle ~SDC~
I think the 'licensing' is when you sell a trade good to another player. Since only 1 trade good is available in the galaxy, you're not selling the trade good, you're licensing its use by another civ. I think. I'm working on 3 hrs sleep because Brad decided he wanted make this really cool game. idle ~SDC~

Boogie: No UP terror star ban's were in place. george: This terror star was on a rampage :) I had destroy 7 systems when I encoutered the other 2 that I couldn't attack. I'm wondering if it was a range issue. Is there a range limitation with a terror star? idle ~SDC~
Is there a way to have a combat unit or 2 group with a freighter as an escort? ~SDC~
