in my game i selected the "trade routes" of an ai empire in "stats". later i tried to have a planet of mine have ships go to a rally point. i could set it, but they didn't appear on the minimap, instead i saw the trade routes of that other empire.

things i noticed so far: -new anomalies look nice and spice up the view. -lock the sliders for social, military, research. i will nitpick that the locked slider should NOT be unlocked just using the mousewheel but require an extra click to unlock it again. otherwise you can accidently unlock the slider just by scrolling. -enable cheat keys in menu and then ctrl-L...woohoo! divides all resources and stars evenly among players. no more star rush that i always lose out to
Otherwise it would have been stated "Everything released with regard to GalCiv will be free." which we never said nor implied.Warcraft III has an exapnsion pack like Brian says. But it's not free and I would arue it comes with a lot less new features than the free expansion pack we're about to release.I find it incredible that someone would actually take the position that we're not providing very good support for our game two days before we release a major expansion pack absolutely free.[
by Citizen Morlac - 9/14/2003 10:19:25 AM nothing in those statements guaranteed that it would be exactly a year.
not to repeat myself but in my post near the end of the last page: both "nearly a year" and just plain "year" were written. one of those was the galciv q&a, last question : www.galciv.com/docs/qa.html just for clarification, not to start an argument. although we can one of those if you want ;p
You can pretty much figure out what kinds of things would be free: code stuff. And what kinds of things would not be free: art stuff.
that's cool. other than the map editor and the answer to why altarians look human, the stuff i want is most likely code stuff. would i be correct in assuming that, if it gets made at all, the ability for users to make their own linked events is a code thing? i remember looking forward to it when it was mentioned somewhere, and that was so
I'd hate to further hijack this thread away from its original purpose, but I do think that this particular part of Brian's argument needs to be addressed a bit further. Clearly he got an impression -- which Brad/Frogboy has now stated was incorrect. I'd hate to see even one person get turned off the game and the company as a result, but I'm wondering whether other folks had the same impression as Brian? And if so, can we try to identify the source of confusion? It would really be a shame

tbs gamers are probably older on average. tends to reduce the leet h@x0rz. plus with no multi there are no "the game is not balanced!". the game itself is competently made. thus reducing the "game sucks" "no it doesn't" wars. the company also tries to help people directly. it's like with revolution: when there's no reason for dissent (no massive bugs/difficulties) or there exists an outlet for it (free speech/lack of locked deleted threads), crap doesn't happen often. some boa

instead of doing a cowardly "bribe" to keep your enemies at bay, strategically use the money and pay someone to attack them. preferably their major trading partners. that way they get weaken militarily since they are at war and they lose trade income. it's always funny to have someone threaten me and then i make their empire fall apart. :D

like someone mentioned above setting the ais to the same morality is hurtful to you. that took out one of your main advantages (that the ais kill each other too and don't just gang up on you). leave the default ai settings (good, pure good, evil, neutral, pure evil). this way if one ai gets too powerful you can bribe another ai to attack him. fun as hell if when get the entire galaxy at war with each other while staying out of it.

frogboy posted:
Should we do a second (non-free) expansion pack for GalCiv with a Christmas 2003 release date?
wait, i thought stardock promised a year of free upgrades and features? (i assumed the year started at the release date) i guess technically you could still provide more free stuff and also come out with the non-free expansion pack, and still have come out with a year of free features and upgrades, but it would not look good.

one problem with fleets would be that every meeting between equal or close to equal fleets is that the result will end up with 50% or 80% or 100% losses. most human admirals would simply retreat even if winning at some point earlier to avoid catastrophic losses and phyrric victories.
I use it a all the time when I play because one option is to have it automatically colonize the planets equally for each race so that you skip the colonizing mode and get right down to the tactics.
that's what i plan to use it for. i don't like the inital colonize period, plus i am always behind the ai unless i get a cluster of good planets near me. the most frustrating bit was when i got beaten both to a yellow star AND a good resource by one turn in one game.
