Well, since I'm busy playing the new beta, I hadn't give this much thought. But why not? There are indeed many empire threads. On the other hand most of the active posters are in empires (at least that's my observation lately). Isn't there a risk that by putting them in a separated forum will make the galciv forum less active (where new players come with questions)? I mean the "old players" may come and check the empires forum for new posts, but not the other forum. As it is now, whenev

By the way, I just noticed that all my victory conditions, except military, are off. I remember only turning off cultural victory. Am I mistaken or can anyone else confirm this? ~SDC~
Yes I have the saves. More details: Before the event: fev 2185; treasury: -5174; net income 50, taxes 100% after the event: Jul 2185 Treasury 100045 Net income 38 taxes 40% I guess there was a revolution and they confiscated all the good of government officials and gave it to the people (through state treasury, which allowed a 60% drop in taxes). The bolcheviks have mabe it to AP :D ! Is that supposed to be that way? I
Wooo. Something strange just happened. 2 things actually: Since after buying the diplo translators I was in huge debt (-6000) which led to lose control over the senate, I set taxes to 100% in order to reach -500 faster. Of course morale dropped like a rock. Then I had a civil war, with some colonies breaking out to create a Terran Confederacy. Strange things: - none of my planets broke away to form that confederacy (or they both did, and now I'm in charge of it. Is it poss
first turn of the game the Alexians have built a diplomatic translator.
on my game it was fast too. It was my main objective, and it was built by somebody else 12-15 months before I completed it. But i guess it's possible. Out of despair, I went back (in fact just trying to check if the reload would function ;) ) and used my "fast track" privileges to rush buy it. Now it's the other aliens who are complaining about how did terrans get it so fast ;p ~SDC~
Salimma, As I understood it, beta1 was released early january. In that version, you could play, but not load a savegame. Yesterday, the new beta was released, and there you can reload: I just did :) . Somewhere in february, I think, there will be another version. Keep on with the download: you won't be disappointed by your test drive ;) ! ~SDC~ [Message Edited]
On the minimap, it seems to me that the korx and the Drengin have the same sector influence color: or I cannot tell/see the difference between them. ~SDC~
The names of the two new empires dont appear under their pictures (nice artwork again BTW) on the race selection screen.
Well, I can see them. But barely: it's written in black, and with the very dark background it's hard to see (or impossible depending on how the screen is set up --- contrast, etc). The race set up screen does look very nice! ~SDC~
Thanks indeed Cari. I woke up this morning (time zone delays prevented me from having it "yesterday"), and there it was! Out to try it now :) ~SDC~
I'm wondering what life will be like once I'm done with grad school.
Well, a few years ago, everybody (parent's friends) kept telling me to "enjoy those years, they won't be back". Every time I used to thought to myself, "that's the same thing for all the other years, isn't it? I guess it's just them who forgot how to have fun". Well, now that I've been working more and more, with less and less time to do what I want, and with all kinds of barriers (specially monetar
I'm curious. Of your time at "work" what fraction is spent actually working? As opposed to gossiping with coworkers, checking the forums, daydreaming about committing war crimes against the Altarians, and so on?
Well latelly it hasn't been much, but I cannot be very specific, who knows who may drop by and read my "confession" ;) . But one thing is certain, in the mid afternoon, when my working days starts to looks like it will never end, reading and posting here does hel
#341 by Citizen dgperry - 1/22/2004 9:34:31 PM I just noticed in the past several games, since I started playing "tough" level on small maps that the assignment for the AI level is different on the submission window than what I had assigned them. For example, I assigned all as "bright" with one as "Intelligent." In the submit window after the game, they are labelded "Normal" with one as "Intelligent." Not sure what difference it makes since the score is correct on Metaverse and the level
Yes a day for most of unlce sam , but at least two for us in the UK
Same here accross the channel (:( ~SDC~
De rien Germain alain. Le jeu prend vraiment une autre dimension dans les niveaux plus durs. Comme tu vois, il y a quelques francophones dans le coin, alors si tu as besoin de poser une question, ne te genes pas :) ~SDC~
I am active, I just don't score very high
Same here... No wonder we are on the same metaverse page! Hello again everyone. Transmitting from home now. :CONGRAT: It feels so much better! But still no updates (:( . I guess my AP game will have to wait till tomorrow (if all goes well) ~SDC~
Well, guys. Time to go home! One hour earlyer than usually ! :CONGRAT: I'm working on a basis of 3/4 of full time from now on, so that I can get some time to study and write my PhD. Talk to you from home! Good luck with the rest of the day. I hope it will pass quickly!
I forgot to ask: have you been having trouble connecting to stardock with SDC? I ask because latelly I've been having a connection/registration failed message. So I'm affraid to submit a game and loose it in the process...
Theoden, Yes it is a great game! I can talk about it for hours. They have a very friendly forum too, with a players average age of 35-40 (when I used to visit the forum). It actually went from 15 years old to something like 65! The game itself is very beautiful. You can check for some screenshots at www.totalwar.org (it is better than the official site, in my opinion). You can get some huge battles, with 1000 guys on each side, at the same time on the battlefield (and reinforcements awa
As for TBS games, the last I tried -- prior to galciv -- was Alpha Centaury. I miss the diplomacy in there. After AC, I only played Shogun, and then Medieval for almost 2 years: until galciv was out.
I saw them in the store. Are they good? What are they, TBS or RTS?
Both! (that will take some explaining...) There is a strategical map (Europe or Japan, depending on the game). These are divided into regions (more or less real ones). On this map, you can see your fortresses or simple forts. And your troops, stacked. This part is TBS. your armies can move from one region to another per turn. But if you attack an ennemy region, then you leave the str
When I play, I usually stretch it till midnight, or 1 am. Which probably explains my wife's attitude I guess. On the otherhand, when we used to play Medieval or Shogun Totalwar, she used to stay up that late too. So she should understand... Do you know those games by the way?
Time does gow much slower at the end of the workday, does it not?
Oh yes it dooooeeeeeessssssssssssssss
I think time goes slow through the entire workday!
LOL
"Are you going to play that stupid game all night?" Oh, BTW, "yes" is not the right answer.
It does sound like an echo. I do hear something like that.
I am a little nervous about starting a new game since my last on still hasn't gotten submitted yet. I would like to see if Cari could work on it before I start a new one.
Yes, I saw you had problems. i think I saw other persons complaining as well. Anyway, for me it's not really an issue, since I'd be very surptised if I finished it anytime before next week: I play only a couple of hours a day, when I get to play (:(
The game I have going now, I have battleships and no one else does and I am currently researching dreads...
That's a situation I haven't known in quite a while! I noticed a big differance between tough and painful. In tough I could stay ahead. In painful, it was more like shoulder to shoulder (well not really, since I won :) ). But when I tried crippling, I was still researching basic techs when I saw 2 different invasion fleets coming my way. I hoped (but only for a bri
