I think the game is pretty solid. Except for some small bugs (like the remove thing in the ship screen, where the list keeps refilling itself everytime one part is removed) The only thing I didn't like is the activation procedure for internet-less computers. I was under the galciv 1 impresseion that you just archive and reinstall wherever you want, when in fact it asks for an internet conexion. Without one you have to write to stardock, then they

For the social spending thing, I think I saw a post by Frogboy stating that this is ths way it is supposed to be and the decision fot the change was made after the manuel was finished. For the rest I agree with everyone, good documented post I guess I'll be adapting my strategy until the fixes are applied.

I've had this as well, with everything (weapons, defenses, engines): as soon as I click in another item in the list after removing one, they all come back to place (in the list). I've avoided that buy clicking directly on the component on the ship rather than on the list and then removing it. No problems this way, even if it is less practical

The initial screen as well as the tech screen coming up are by deseign. The influence takes a few turns to be recalculated I think. But as far as I noticed there is no effect in the game evolution. Also, I noticed that most of the times when I load a game, I get some tech trade offers by other races. I think that everytime you reload the other civs go for a round of tech trading.

Most of the time, I've no problems. I've had however some game freeazes, where I could still move the cursor around, but nothing else. No way to go on, no way to wuit, no way to go back to windows. When this happened the only solution you to manually restart the computer.

Your ships must have at least 1 point in one of the 3 defenses available. So, for instance, defenders will not get the bonus, but if you build a ship with 1 defense, then you will see, it works. I use military starbases in all my games , and they seem to work fine.

A bientôt <img src="smiles/Smile.gif" border=0 ALIGN="ab

ok, thanks for the precision Silent Archer After reading around a bit, if I understand correctly the only way to submit a game is if it waslauched through the metaverse in the main menu. So, we must always play the same game if we want to submit? Whant about just changing the races names, is that possible?

Hmmm I disagree. In my games, most of the time AI small ships will ignore the defences, and when they enter my starbase protection field, my ships are vastly superior to theirs, thanks to the defense. And I should add, the pilots and crews would not come onboard their ships if they had no defences. I can see what would happen "-- here is you brand new attack ship, 5 lasers, high speed engines, beautiful design, even relatively confortable, etc Any questions? -- 'what about d

hope it wouldn't be MV friendly. That would not be fair to the rest of us. I'm not so sure: I understood it would just increase the number weapons/defenses/engines one could put in a large hull ; both for the player and for the AIs. That wouldn't be unfair. Of course if it was only for the human player it would be a cheat and with no in

You need to find the weapons in the same file, and set the sizemod attribute on them to 0. That should remove all weapon scaling. In fact that alone should give you the effect of more space on the high-end hulls. If I do somethink like that, will the game still be metaverse friendly?

I build small ships, with 2 attach and 1 defense. Then a fleet of 7 constructors to put together a military starbase that will allow me to defend my planets in the early game where usually the AI completelly outguns me. But with 1 defense installed, the starbase assistance kicks in, and those smal ships (in fleets of 4) suddenly have 7-2-2 atacks and 6-3-3 defense which allows for a good defensive strategy until midgame. But by that time you'll have researched better weapons, bigger ships etc.

Sorry to stick my head in the lion's whatever, but I tend to agree with Titan Ten. the concept of Piracy is used far too often. Before I get shot here, the way he was, I'd like to say I have bought it (though I realise that everyone says so evenif they didn't). And I'm actually about to buy it again, since I cannot make a backup that will be installable in a computer without internet connection. It is not possible so far <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Hmm.gif

or at least just the Destabilisation & the Planetary propaganda sliders bars described in the manual. I can't seem to find the destabilisation slider anymore. In the beta it was there, now I can't find it. Is there somekind of condition for having it?
