Well, aren't you supposed to have a GC2 serial number too? Well sure, I have it (2 actually, one for totalgaming, which I'm a susbcriber since 2003 and one for galciv 2 sent to me a week ago), at home on my computer where I downloaded it fine, and installed it fine. But I could not memorise it <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smi

I just installed GC2 on my other computer by archiving: - right click on galciv2 - archive application - entire application (including skins) that included the tutorials/movies/multimedia I could too make an archive following these steps (which resulted in an 1Go .sdc file) but when I tried to restore it in another computer
The AI tend to trade a lot of techs between themselves. That saves time. So far I've wen 2 games on normal (slightly above) and got crushed very quicky in two others when I raised the level a little bit. But I've played small galaxies game till now, and the AI will get over me in a few turns. If the galaxy is bigger, then you have more time to prepare yourself, or at least you will be facing fewer AI at begining, which will give you time to prepare yourself. I tend to find medium map
From there, you can use the DVD to install SDC, run SDC, and under the File menu there's an "Import" or "Restore" item that you can use to turn the .sdc archive back into the installed game. This method worked just fine for me putting it on my laptop. No need to enter account information or serial number, so long as it's authenticated on the machine you're creating the arc
mine is a sdc file as well
Archiving for me was very fast, a few minutes. However I could not reinstall it in another computer that did not had an internet connection at all: SDC start looking for a connexion to confirm my account and will not let me restore the archive before it is done.
The PQ0 -> PQ13 event would be a great event because it'll set off a whole new "land grab" phase in the game. that was not really a new landgrab. There where about 60 - 80 new class 13 planets. Even if that could be "interesting" it is so much micromanagement that there will be almost nothing else lef
I reported the +13 ( ) PQ event that in a small game turned all remaining planets (0's) into class 13. That killed the game. But following someones suggestion, I went back half a dozen turns and had a different event. Instead of all planets in a 2 sector radius, only the planets in that particular solar system gained 13PQ. It seems the "ofrce" of certain events is random. I like the ev
Ok. I misunderstood you. I'll have to check that, nerver noticed it... ooops
For me it was the Torians
I don't understand what factor converts from morale to approval. I haven't made any calculations, but it seemed to me that morale was measured in one planet, and aproval is empire wide: so if you have 3 planets with high morale but with almost noone on it (because you just conquered it and only 1/10th of your soldiers survived to colonize it) a
Hi Mxm111 I've made another observation to further our discussion about weapons and to complicate your calculation matrices. What will determine the number of shots a ship fires? In my last game when looking at the report in the end, I noticed that my ships usually fired almost 2 times the number of shots that the enemy fleet fired. I'm at work now, so I can't check if those ships had 2 weapon types or not, but that should change things a little shouldn't it? (I'm almost certain that
1. I 've seen that sometimes as well 2. I've seen that as well, but before I updated last friday 3. Some of them are so predictably treacherous I too finished my first release game two days ago. An alliance vic that wasn't all that easy. (on a small map all AIs are over you as soon as the game starts). Tried going up a bit too, and got beat the crap out of me in less than 6 mo
Should you receive diplomatic relation hits when you sell warships to somenone's enemy? Its insanely fun, but it seems strange that I could still sell weapons to someone's worst enemy and maintain cuddly relations. On the other hand IF the AI can do the same thing then that is good enough. These are secret arms sales. Some kind of AlienGate if
And TriStronium Armor II have exactly same stats as Stristronium armor I. Bugs I guess... Doesn't it take on less space in the ship? That would be better
I use both as well: I zoom in when it is my turn, and then when I'm done I zoom out so I can see the entire map, or at least all the zones I control and/or without fog of war. I find that it is easier to see enemy ships movements when zoomed out: you take note of any ship not matchin your color, then go check if thats some neutral guy, or a danger to the inner systems.
Is there a way to simply change the races names, so that I can change my playing environment from game to game (let's say, star trek, then babylon, then whatever). I don't mind much about the portraits, but the names it would be nice . and in galciv 1 we could easily define the Ais alignement. Is that over as well? Definetly over?
Probably due to the fact that the metaverse doesn't update automatically every time someone submits a score. From what I have noted the mv has specific times it does an archive and backup. After that time than your score shall be ranked, position added, medals awarded. Thanks for the info Suralle <
Does anyone know what I can do to change the races names? I don't care the portraits are not ok, bust just changing the names helps me playing in different "universes". Thanks!
However the game I submitted lists as unranked. Anyone knows why or what it means?
I did everything that was suggested, and at first it didn't work, but now that I posted in another thread (and did again the procedure uner internet explorer instead of firefox) I can see the badges in my posts as well in a lot of people here that I don't remember seeing before. So I guess something worked
After correcting my seria number, I could submit a game to the metaverse, and I can see it there in my character, but, the games lists as unranked. Anyone know why or what it means? Thks
I submitted a game, but there is no ranking. I'm I missing something? (am also checking if there is any difference when I post) (EDIT: nope, there isn't )
While I agree with some of your comments, I think things are balanced so far. I personnaly don't like some of the events, but what the hell, not all things that happen are supposed to please us. The good/evil choices are there since galciv1, so I guess I got used to it. The idea behind bonus or penalties seems very starfleet like to me: the good path is always a costly one (or to qupote some episode, "we don't put civilians at risk, sometime
