If the tech tree can be printed off, doesn't that defeat the purpose of including it with the Collector's Edition? A nice foldout, colourful, tech tree poster from the CE would still be better than a multiple-sheet 8x11 printout from a PDF file. But for those of us who preordered the DL-only version, the latter would still be better than nothing.<br/

The message in SDC, when I got it, did say that things would be fine for now, but that at some point "in the future" it would be necessary to merge e-mail addresses. Beyond that, I'm not going to worry until I have an actually runnable game tomorrow afternoon. If it doesn't work then, I'll figure out what's wrong. - Ash

What Consumed Crustacean said. Right click on the GalCiv 2 listing in SDC, and you'll see an "Archive" option. Right below that you'll see a "Restore Archive" option, for when you've taken the Archive home and want to get it running again. - Ash

The total game size is just over 1GB. If all you got was ~100MB, you just downloaded the core game files, and missed the multimedia/movies/tutorials. You need to click the "+" icon beside the GalCiv2 listing in Stardock Central to see the rest of it. The game will run (come Tuesday) without the rest, but you won't have any movies or sound. - Ash

From the IRC chat that was done on Friday: [19:29.52] (GreenReaper) (Grohyt) Q: do you plan on releasing anymore gameplay videos with commentary? [19:30.07] (Frogboy) Yea. We want to do one that has more of the team involved. [19:30.17] (Frogboy) Just have to figur eout the logistics of mxing all of us in. <img src="smiles/BigSm

Don't even get me started on how frustrated I got trying to get my hands on a copy of Civ 4... the memory of that experience had a lot to do with why I've already preordered GalCiv and predownloaded most of the game files. Then Brad had to go and half-ruin the effect by deciding not to release the final download files until mid-afternoon Tuesday. He's a horrible, horrible man. - Ash

Mid afternoon EST on Tuesday. You'd better have one mammoth gameplay example queued up to keep us all distracted throughout Tuesday morning. Otherwise the number of "is it out yet?" posts will probably break the forums. - Ash

What the guy with the polysyllabic way of saying "eaten seafood" for a nickname said. From the IRC chat with Brad yesterday: [18:43.20] (GreenReaper) (noodle) When is a demo going to be be released? (paraphrased) [18:43.45] (Frogboy) Probably mid March. [18:43.51] (Frogboy) Typically game development goes like this: [18:44.11] (Frogboy) You go gol

If you need some video goodness to tide you over, have you seen the gameplay video that Brad posted a couple days ago: https://www.galciv2.com/Journals.aspx?AID=101010 It covers some of the same ground as a couple of the tutorials, and even has Brad doing the voiceover work himself. - Ash

This is a copy of the logo for GalCiv 2 that shows up in Stardock Central, at least: http://cthol-murgos.net/RaceLogo01.png The same icon is used for the launcher EXE that's included the game files released so far. So it seems likely to be about as close to an "official" GalCiv 2 icon as you're going to get. (Hmm... it occurs to me that official folks might have a problem with me posting that file publicly. If so, feel free to edit/delete this post, and I'll remove the file

The intent is for it to be on store shelves on the 21st, as far as I know. That said, what stores (and stores' distribution warehouses) do with the game once Stardock sends it to them is up to them. So expect the 21st, but as with any game, it would still probably be a good idea to phone before you head down (unless you have lots of spare time and gas ). - Ash

Can't say as I remember you, but then again, can't say as I was really paying attention. And this game had a beta test? Geez, I sure wish the developers would be more open about these things. It's like trying to see behind the iron curtain or something. - Ash

Well what about my question? That would be a "no", sorry. I think someone asked this before (just after we figured out the preload made them available ) and one of the Stardock staff responded that it wasn't possible to get them separately. I don't know if there are any plans to make th
