Sshhh. People will figure out why. Oh, is there something going on with this game today? Should we be excited about whatever you're doing? EDIT> Hey, the History button at the button of SDC looks interesting now. - Ash
If you reinstalled WIndows, I would guess you might need to re-enter the Serial Number for your game? FWIW, GalCiv 2 still shows up under Purchased Software in SDC for me (just refreshed the view now to double check). - Ash
Is the universe in 2D? The universe is a 2D plane with 3D graphics. In other words, there is a camera that you can tilt, pan, and zoom, and all the ships are rendered with fully 3D models, but the actions of the game world (movement, etc.) are all based on a 2D tile system. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=#FFF394 clas
From what I hear, Brad just isn't a morning person. Can't say I blame him. Hey, I just got up, what do you want? Wait - so you're saying Kobra was right about something? It's like my world's gone all upsi
How do I view the tutorials again? Once they're downloaded, they're in the Gfx\Tutorials folder. You'll need a player that can view .bik video files. http://www.radgametools.com/ is the standard place to get such a player. Download the Bink video player from that site, and open the tutorial videos through it - and enjoy. <img src="smiles/Smile.gif" b
Programmers in general aren't morning people....unless you count staying up programming until 5am. Suddenly I understand why your avatar appears to be a cup of caffeinated beverage. Thanks for the humourous responses. <TABLE
Without knowing much (OK, anything) about PSP hardware, somehow I doubt it has the processing power to handle a game of the complexity of GalCiv. - Ash
You realize asking this on the official forum for the game is likely to generate pretty much nothing but "BUY IT NOW" responses, right? Especially given that until 3pm or so today, the vast majority of us still haven't played a single game of GalCiv 2. That said... most of us consider the GalCiv franchise to be what MOO3 should have been, even if the Devs take pains from time to time to point that there are differences in the series. If you really want to know, though, brow
maybe they are waittin till 3pm est. cause thats when they will be headed out the door. From what I hear, Brad just isn't a morning person. Can't say I blame him. - Ash
From the stickied post about download problems: (3) The base game will download slower than the other modules. In Stardock Central there is a menu called tools. Go to Settings, pick Internet and you can try a different server to see if that helps your download speed. The base game should download at speeds from 30k/sec to 300k/sec depending on where you live,
I have yet to play the game (wasn't in the beta), but from what I've heard posted, it actually is advisable to specialize your planets. Without playing the game, I can't offer much more by way of explanation of why this is the case. While there is no "slider" to control spending on a planetary level, you can focus production in a particular area by clicking on the appropriate header at the top of the Colony Management screen. As I understand it, this converts some the planet's
They hate us and they want to watch us squirm. I know they wouldn't release them last night in case something then went wrong while all the Devs were asleep. Dunno why the wait til middle of the afternoon today, though. I would presume not a retail issue, as many stores won't be receiving the game until later in the week, anyway. The generous part of my personality likes to think they're holding it back to get some nice
I'm having the same problem as "Heavens Door"... I can't get past the "processing data" bit. I'll try using my roommate's copy of IE6 later. (Currently using Opera 8.5.1.) Had the same problem with Opera (same version); it worked fine for me as well after switching to IE. - Ash
No. Your money comes from your population (how much is controlled by your tax rate), from trading with other Civilizations, from tourism, and (potentially) from extorting the AI players. In other words, your cash inflow has nothing to do with production or research. Your cash outflow (ie, spending), on the other hand, is where production and research get involved. Every factory, research lab, etc. that you build represnts industrial or research capacity - by themselves, not act
Race: Custom (military-focused bonuses) Galaxy size: Tiny Opponents: One - Drengin Habitable planets: Common Clusters: Whatever "evenly spread out" is Difficulty: Easiest (Cakewalk?) The idea will be to finish it in a hurry, letting me get used to the game mechanics with as little in the way of actual difficulty as possible. - Ash
The first response that popped into my mind: "sweet!". The second response that popped into my mind: "I don't believe you. I think you should post the files to prove it to us". - Ash
Hey, I like the jokes. And I'd definitely rather have them messy than not have them all. That said, I'd definitely rather have them clean, than have them messy. What is the actual "problem" with bad grammar showing up like that? It detracts from the immersion of the gameplay. Rather than being able to smoothly read that screen and move on, my mind is forced to stutter, essentially, reading the text two or three times to decipher the meaning, before proceeding with the game. For those
Lol. You paid to see E1, 2 and 3 of SW. HA-HA ( insert "Nelson" laugh and point)! Hey, everything else aside (Ep III wasn't actually that horrible a movie), I have two words for you: Natalie. Portman. - Ash
When my boss gave me the day off for doing so much overtime i was looking forward to some gaming time i rarely get, so far i have found eq2 down, eve-online down and now this! Oh, I completely understand... I'm at least in a better timezone for it (EST myself), but I have to start work at 5PM today... which means about 6 hours of waiting for the rele
It won't work - yet. What you've been able to download so far is the preload that's been available for a week or so. The game does indeed go live today, but the most recent word from Stardock has been that it won't happen until about 3PM EST (GMT -5) - meaning it likely won't be playable until about 8PM your time. We're all rabidly hoping the good folks in charge decide to release the game earlier, but until it happens, we're just sitting here waiting with baited breath. -
There's only one sentence in there that is rather grammatically "icky". If you want to keep the same sentence structure, better would be: "It's people like you who do this kind of thing to computer players in video games on your planet." That said, the sentence structure is icky in its own right. Too many consecutive prepositional phrases. I would recommend something more like: "People like you do this to computer players in your planet's video games." - Ash
I won't be joining, but that's a nice name. If only I could figure out what inspired it... - Ash
Just double click on the tutorials file and it should open right up. They're all in there. There should be no need to use a viewer at that point. This is wrong. First, if all you are seeing the GFX\Tutorials folder are four PNG images, then you have not downloaded the tutorials. Follow the advice in starfuryzeta's post about getting the re
Just curious... the only other person that I've currently marked as a Senator in the Empire I've created tells me it doesn't seem to have any effect (other than showing names in bigger fields at the top of the Empire listing). What, exactly, is the feature supposed to do? Just look pretty for the people that are deemed the best players in an Empire? Or is there some function I'm not aware of? TIA. - Ash
