Wha... Now this thread isn't stickied? I had to search for it! UNpleasant. Ok, back to the topic. They obviously are going to pick and choose the mods for "stardock certified" (see the Library "Dangerous Animals" event). But they also are skewing the Library in another way that is just as interesting from an outside view. Seen any anomalies (other than the one done by Brad)? Any improvements? New techs? Obviously none have been submitted, right? <
What's the point of modding a "most moddable game ever" (nah, Civ2 was MUCH more moddable) if part of the game experience (Multiverse) will be denied to you if you do? M
Why aren't you putting all the mods released into the Library? I can't help but notice that one of my mods is still being "reviewed" after 12 days languishing in whatever limbo is over there, and none of the rest have been "reviewed" either. If it was true that mods are "try at your own risk" why are you only putting up events and not improvements, anomalies, etc? It seems to me that you are telling us what to mod and what not to mod. I've pretty much stopped modding this game
Interesting, it posted while I was still writing it. What I intended to say is that I submitted one eleven days ago and it is still not posted in the Library. MANY are put in immediately, often in less than a day. I will be happy to team up with someone and begin rating mods. Would someone like to host a webspace for myself and others to work? If you wish to take part in this project, write me at [email protected] M
Code Monkey, It is not true that you can submit things and have them show up immediately. I have submitted a total of five mods to the library. Go look them up. Show me where they are. 1 of them was submitted eleven days ago and The problem lies in the fact that one of the ones that got put up didn't even work, and many of the ones being put up contain pretty egregious spelling errors and the like. A serious question arises in whether some of them even fits into the vision of
DOH! I just realized you listed my range anomaly twice and didn't note that the second one was a sensor increase anomaly... M
I just realized that you are somehow getting submitted files from the Library. I uploaded my 2 anomalies last night (late) and now see them on your site! Could you email me how to do that? I am intrigued. Also, could you credit them to me like you did my other files. M
Well, I have wanted to weigh in on this issue, as I also feel some of these events are questionable in their adherence to the intent of the designers (as shown in gameplay). My lengthy discourse on this is in the Mods forum if one is interested in reading it. I do feel however, that some form of reviewing process is needed. I have been thinking of setting up a website (or contributing to one) in which folks can review a mod for several things, such as: playability, quality, relevance, e
James, I have completely revamped the Xeno Religion mod. I will be sending that to your email sometime today. M
"i must say that i have had GREAT success with the library i submitted my coup d'etat mod today and it came out today :/ then theres my party pack which came out within 24 hours " And I have tried for fourteen days. :( Sure would be nice if someone at Stardock would take notice of this... M
Verenti, I should ask you, "Why does one wish to add anything to the library at all?" I am an amateur game designer. If fate had been kind, I would even be a professional one. I am good at what I do, and I wish to share it. I need feedback to make me an even better game designer. When you spend about ten hours working on something, testing it, tweaking it, reworking it, getting the graphics in place, getting opinions on the writing, and then hit a white webpage saying
Since there are broken mods and marginally balanced ones in the library, who is to really say what is "playing fairly." I agree with Code Monkey. We need a clear guide as to what "playing fairly" means. M
I know that I was not the only one before who could not submit to the library...and I still the only one? The tech support people told me it was "fixed" but I just found a way to sneak into the upload section and I find that my .zipped file that I added NINE DAYS AGO is only "1k." This means that the upload system was NOT fixed as they said. I have emailed them in the interim, and still have received no response. If you too have submitted something and not heard from them in a while OR if you ar
Well, I am beginning to wonder WHAT their criteria is for accepting mods. Some people (like me and some others) have playtested their mods and carefully thought out the balance issues, whereas some others are obviously unbalancing and/or not in keeping with the game design (or broken!). We've had one mod put up that doesn't work at all, one mod that requires us to direct people to unrar it rather than unzip it, etc. etc. M >:(
I think he did :D M
I just went ahead and sent you the .zip files that I attempted to send to Stardock. Please replace what you have of mine with the new items. I have about ten events laying around, but I am trying to get permission from the various artists over at digitalart.org to use their work before I submit them (if they fix the library link) or hand them over to you. M
No. Supposedly the AI will compensate for any mods you add, so there is no issue with using mods. I have used mods in both my reported games and encountered no difficulties. This includes, apparently jacking up your political bonuses to 500% PQ and winning through that method :( M
I would like to echo the request to rename the event files. M
It appears the library only works for others. All attempts to submit this (and now two other mods) has failed. I am going to send all future mods to: http://www.fjun.com/undernet/index.php Hopefully some of you can try them and see how they work! M
And it appears I am the only one with this problem. Let me reiterate: I have sent in two mods and not received a reply (it's been a week for the first one) or seen any activity. I cannot seem to upload anything else. I am getting the exact same errors I was getting before when I tried to upload. M
Just checked out your site. I see you have a couple things I posted here. Some of it is out of date as I've already tweaked them for better playability. I'll send you some updates via email tomorrow (or tonight). Please update what you have of mine. I'll also send you the picture "Tactics_Alien.pcx" that goes with the Xenomorph Invasion mod you have. M
Hmm, everything on the site right this second is coming up missing. I would try again later. M
Graphic Workshop Professional works for me. It has a lot of annoying "buy me" features, but it will work for free. Go to download.com and search for it. M
@Ardrikk: Agreed. I modified the file thus: [NOTE: This is Jesus of Borg's work. I claim no credit for the vision behind it or the execution of it, I just wanted to be able to read the whole description and have a slightly lowered result value for the choices:] GoodOption "He was probably frozen for a reason! We shall erect a museum atop the cavern to teach others and to allow people to see the frozen alien. (%s Morale boost)" I'll not post the values I am usi
