So, when can I start beta testing this for you?
Lord_StarPilot
Yes, but it can be argued that all techs should have some "trigger". It is rare that something was invented or inspired when there was no need. So that would be too easy a trap to fall into, I think.
The StarPilot is present and ready to lend my services to the great StarDockians in their new quest.
Looks fantastic! (drool)
iddle">) get to work on it. Heres to a great new chapter in GalCiv!
So, it's a branching campaign then? Win scenario, go to Scenario 3, lose, go to Scenario 4? Will there be multi branching? As in, if you win #1 by a huge amount, you go to #5 instead of the #3?
The explorers from the Metaverse keep dropping by...
AoW *was* Heroes of Might and Magic, with a magic system that had a VERY tiny bit of spice based on MoM. That was it. And I liked AoW. It being sold as a "MoM influenced/spiritual descendant game" was purely a rip-off by the publishers. They could have just as easily claimed that AoW's magice was inspired/spiritually descended from WotC Magic: The Gathering. MoM was great for one reason... it was effectively the most in game customizable TBS game ever made. Between being able to "enchan
The start is the single worst element in GC. Its a true horror story because it destroys so much time that should be devoted to playing and having fun instead of just trying to get something "on par" with what the AI starts at. This is always what drives me away from GC... getting tired of spending a few evenings trying to get a playable starting position(meaning, a position that is close enough to the AI's starting resources that I have a chance of winning without having to break out the cheese
If you are going to do that, why not screen capture the uncovered map? Then you can load it up and look at it in Paint, IE, or whatever graphic package you may have installed on the game? Of course, you could do like that old vet did... just set sensor range on all colony, survey, and scout ships to 99 parsecs and then not worry about it. (What was that players name? I just don't recall...)
And record colinization events. I like to write them down. Gives my planets character
That's in the planet details. The year, and manner, in which it joined your empire.
You are not alone. I'm running through random tiny map games as fast as I can, with various conditions set to off and seeing if that has any effect, as there doesn't seem to be anything else I can think of to try.
Probably because SD did not think of it or thought it wasn't important enough to assign their resources (coders) to do.
BUG: AP (1.49N.rc.002) won't submit straight, random games. No custom maps, no custom rules. No submissions to the Meta. I run 0 Mods. It was a normal, Tiny, Loose, Rare map. All victory conditions enabled. Win was Cultural. Recieved message "Scenarios and Custom maps are not allowed to be submitted" when I tried to submit the game to Metaverse.
BUG: "Follow" Auto-pilot/"Follow" Alien Ships does not "Follow" the ship. Why this is a Problem: Ships fly right off the screen after the earliest stages of the game. The one time only auto-center on the ship is inadequate. When a ship only moves 1 or 2 parsecs a turn, that one time only auto-center behavior meets "follow" needs. Once movement speeds reach 5 or more, ships can now move off actual display (bottom right corner is under ship display window), forcing players to hol
Yeah. Whenever I've seen it, it's been a "GC Resource issue". To fix it, required exiting GC completely and then restarting GC.
BUG: Guard does not work correctly. Guard only works when an enemy *moves* into sensor range. If you have a Sensor Drone parked out in a nearby sector to a major homeworld set on Guard, and that Major declares war on you, your Sensor won't wake up for any of those major ships "already" in its sensor range. If hypersensors have popped up, that's over 3 sectors for Sensor Drones. Other "guarding" ships display this same erroneous behavior. Correct Behavior: Each ship on
Mini-Freighters are still painting their auto-pilot destination designator on stars.
Bug: When Federalists win election, they only "get" +20 Economics. When Federalists *lose* election, they are penalized: -20 Economics -30 Diplomacy Do you earn the Diplomacy back if Federalists win back the Senate? It's not listed.
I build 2 colony ships at each star to make sure I don't get transport rushed. They are free, and useful. When the world gets too overcrowded and gets a morale too low for my liking, I fill up a colony ship and launch it. And then make a new one at the next convenient opportunity for that star.
I also think that good races tend to like you even more if you don't have a big/no military, as they often come to me saying they like my peaceful nature and would like to support that by giving me more credits
I haven't seen that in a long, long time. That's cause the Yor decided right afterward that my worlds were just the right kind of places for their people. Do you gift/bribe the AI? I can play a no-military game, if I keep grovelling the way the AI expect
I noticed this problem and, at least in my case, the map was magnified to the max. I used my scroll wheel to reduce magification and get squares with grid lines so that I could place stars, etc.
Yep. This drove me nuts when I first got the AP beta... as I didn't have a mouse with a scroll wheel, and there is no menu or keyboard command to change the zoom level. I went out and bought a cheap USB mouse with a scroll wheel, but the program should still have menu and
This sticky thread is still up. You guys still looking for C/C++ coder help? Or is thread just been forgotten about? DarkSpire, if you are retired, then you have plenty of time for fun. Like working for Star Dock! ;)
Waste of a good constructor. ;) Imagine adding on to your military modules on that base instead, making your star ships defend the SB better. It's not like SBs can defend themselves well in GC to begin with. Once you get to the mid(BS) and more advanced ships, SBs are just non-moving targets.
Defend yourself. Build up your Military Rating (MR). You want your MR to always be ahead of the computers if you never want to be troubled by them. The best way to build up MR is Corvettes and AMM (Anti-Matter Missiles). The reason is that they are maintenence 1 with great "strength". Now, AMMs are great for ship killing, but they are very poor world defenders (they will be the first thing attacked when in orbit because their "strength" is superior to all other ships) due to th
