That's what I was thinking, Ray. That it might appear in the Pay For XP, AD. If so, that would make GC almost an entirely different game, wouldn't it?

Don't know, but I'm looking for the fix for this. Had a great history of being CTD free... In 1.10, only had that coded accident of clicking a survey ship. 1.10A corrected that. Got in a GAME under 1.10A fine. Then, today, before firing up GalCiv, I started StarDock Central. It auto-updated with 3 quick files, and now, no more GalCiv! :( I've reported this in the 1.10 bug thread (stickied), and tried everything that Ray was helpful enough to search out and find (like CariElf's advise).
Really? GalCiv2 or the Paid Expansion?
I now have this problem! GalCivW.exe ALSO has this problem. It only started happening after StarDock Central auto-updated itself with 3 files and forced a reboot. Now, no can play GalCiv. :( CariElf, see the sticked 1.10 bug report thread for what I've tried, based on helpful Ray.
I was thinking that. Darn, where's that "How to deinstall and reinstall your GalCiv as painlessly as possible" thread? :D Thanks for all the help! It was worth taking the shot. [Message Edited]
Oh please. Ctr+N is not a cheat. It is a tool to allow people to play the game how they like. If someone wants to take the time to hit Ctr+N until they get 2 yellow stars in there home sector, let them. They paid their money like you and me... why cramp their style? For someone that WANTS to tiny/maso pump, they will just quit to main and start again... its just takes them longer, and if they are after Metaverse points rather then simple fun, then they'll do it. As for as the reload goe
Further update... No joy in Mudville. Did #1, #2, and your suggestion... Also had tried GalCivW.exe... it has identical problem to GalCiv.exe. Blink tools play intros fine. Also play the main setup menu screen parts (all 3) fine. When both intro and sf_intro are renamed, the game doesn't do it's flicker. Apparently, each flicker is it trying to play the movies, one right after the other, and then CTD. With both renamed so they are unfindable, it just CTDs.
Thank you Ray for the info! I had presumed it was something to do with the video player (due to the reboot), but looking at the Debug.err file, I don't know. Let's see the options: 1) I don't have Quicktime on this machine. Cannot stand QT, as it has fried out quite a few installations on previous machines. But I'll hit the RadGameTools site to make sure everything is cool. 2) I don't have WinAmp on this system. I do have WinDVD, but everything was ok BEFORE the SDC auto-up
Hey, contribute those bug reports, and help out people asking for help when you can here on the forums... AFAIK, that's all I did. I hadn't realized that the change of status was not automated until this thread.. Which reminds me... Thanks Star Dock! :D Although being a Vet just means you get to see one more forum that almost never has traffic in it... Looks like it was the Alpha/Beta forum perhaps?
I just click once. Takes several minutes for a game to be submitted, as always. I'm on cable modem, so don't know if being on dial up would take longer...

1.10A.073 Started Stardock Central. It downloaded 3 items, and then rebooted my machine. This freaked me out, so I ran a virus scan on laptop, all clear. Started up GalCiv, and it CTD's immediately now. Great update! Oopsie! Looks like it CTDs at the video player load up, or when the video player loads up the Strategy First animation. Note, I had no problems with game start up PRIOR to the StarDock update. StarDock Central still seems to work. Would appreciate info on
It's cause the other thread about Maso scoring. Lots of interesting ideas in that thread, eh? Could use a few ;) and :) in it I think. Thanks for the invite. I'll consider it. You don't sleep? Obviously, you can only do 20/7. :D Although I might be able to code up a bot to play Tiny/Maso games and submit their wins. Then, it would be 24/7. ;p
I was very pleasantly surprised to have stolen some techs in my last 1.10A game. Very unexpected. And now that I've gotten to see how bad the AI is hurt by the 10 cost per Star Base, I feel very bad for it. As it still makes multiple unnecessary star bases, and goes racing for resources it really doesn't use. Tends to kill off two of the AIs every game... they just cannot afford to build them, but they still are. So far, 1.10A is much easier then all previous versions... other then 1.02
As an aside, I bet that one of the new AI settle the PQ14 when it's got one +10% PQ tech, and settles PQ13 when it's got both. That's just too common a human tactic for SD to NOT model, isn't it? Oh... I saw a PQ 14 World that the Drengin settled in my last game. It was a BLUE star... and they'd pushed it up to PQ 16 with terraforming. I was VERY shocked. Is there an event that knocks down PQ? I haven't understand why the Drengin did that so far. They left all the other PQ14 alone that
I'd been more helpful if I hadn't gone off for awhile doing other things (RL). Used to rank #12 in points on the Empire scale, back before RL happened. ;) I hear I can rack up a lot of points for just a couple of hours play. If that's true... why doesn't the fellowship just get a few of its members to waste a couple of hours a night and bury the pirates? ;) [Message Edited]
That's not a bug. That's an expectation problem. You want to give orders to a particular ship in a fleet, first (U)nfleet it, then give it its order. Right now, the game makes it easy to give the fleet order. Changing it would cause mix ups where the whole fleet didn't get the orders when you wanted it to. Just which one would everyone prefer to be easier... giving orders to a single ship in the fleet, or giving orders to the fleet itself? Just remember... (U)nfleet it first, t
Being able to sort the "Star List" by (best world) PQ, to find those PQ 13 and PQ14 worlds I scouted previously, but having a difficult time finding.
Well, the AI is still as bad at using starbases in 1.10A as 1.05, so the 10 StarBase cost means that the AI that goes SB wasting (that's all of them), kill themselves. So you end up with one to two less AI empires to worry you. They are just wasting all their money trying to pay for thier Star Bases. End result, the game is easier, and the AI develop slower. Tech is supposed to be faster. Haven't noticed it yet in my games. I run my tech fast, but I'm not getting my war machine ready fa
RoboJoe, welcome to the Community. Stick around, have some fun. Remember, there are no dumb questions, just people to feed to the Death Furnaces. Ray, why would the Fellowship need anyone other then you? ;)
Back under 1.0, getting that medal was an accomplishment! And that's when I got mine... That was a pleasant little "HURRAH!" then. I suppose it will just be a regular you've submitted 10 games now...
You mean stuff from the Library?
Well, you can already sort by size, right? So isn't that the equivalent of "fly", "light", "middle", and "heavy"? After all, a tiny takes little time, a huge takes a few days (well, for me, anyways). Or would the "heaviness" of your class be determined by the average difficulty level you play at? Anton, you shouldn't be afraid of stepping up to 1.10A. However, if your pointage you are getting is important to you, you could always archive off your current 1.05, go up to 1.10A, and give t
RubberDucky666, make sure you have the latest version of GalCiv... version 1.10A. Version 1.10 had some CTDs when you clicked on the ships or the 'I' in the little ship info screen. Anthony Gleen, are you playing with any Library mods? Most of the vote crashing CTD (Crash To Desktop) bugs are caused by Library Council mods from the Library that weren't "quite right". Remember, the Library of mods are player creations, and not 100,000,000,000% tested and certified by Star Dock (except fo
 Now, that's a true developer "fix". :D
