Wow! Then I'm very surprised I got elevated. Maybe my sometimes bug reporting did it for me then? I often have a sharp and acid tongue in text, so that wasn't it. Just proves those Star Dockians are crazy. Nice, but crazy. :D

I've found GC to be very stable. 1.10 had a few serious bugs (like click survey's 'ii and CTD), but Star Dock fixed that, very quickly. Star Dock has been seriously fantastic on support. Wittman, if you have repeatable CTDs, I'm sure Star Dock would like to have a copy of your save games (and your game version info) to see if they could see what is causing it. They always have in the past. Speaking of game info... are you having these problems after several hours of game play,

You people are too funny. If you are playing the Metaverse, you are not playing GC "for fun". Tons of threads on that in the past. If you are going to play the Metaverse? Then you play to whatever scores best. I really don't care about the Metaverse, other then as a tool to submit games to SD so that they have one more point on how people play their games. Why? Because I play like I want to play. I do not allow a scoring system to dictate what size a map to play, what difficult

Minor oddities: * Xeno-Persuasion does not have a discription listed in the "Tech has now been researched" screen. * File version on GalCiv.exe shows 1-0-0-1. Someone might want to set that in the general .rc source file. Would be kind for people that keep certain flavors saved for going back to be able to tell without running the program what version/flavor it is. Thanks for the fun game!

Typo: Trade Center description: Missing comma (" , ") after the word morale. Social summary screen at end/overview does not seem to work. All columns incorrect. Listed the wrong world as most populated. Listed no star being influential. Listed wrong world as most productive. etc. Economy summary screen at end/overview: Average tax rate has suffix "bc" instead of "%". I just finished a game where my tax rate was 50% for the entire game. I know the average tax rate was not "50 bc

you know, after reading through so much scoring debate, I think StarDock should set up the scoring so that it reflects the exact strategy they want to see more of in the metaverse. And to change the scoring when they decide to look for other strategies. Then the score chasers will be hunting out the strategies and play that Star Dock wants examples of, and people that aren't score chasers will just laugh about the matter. No scoring will ever be competitive, unless we all play the same

re: #48 Brad... is the ParentKnown check making sure that it only takes into account the player in question? It seems that if it wasn't, it would explain at least a few times I've seen the computer get something that wasn't available *to it*. Mind you, I'm not picking on anyone's code or anything. I code, I know it's easy to look at code and see what you know its supposed to do, and therefore miss a minor typo, and whatnot. This is just a simple theory of mine though... And wha

Note: I've seen the AI escort his transports, under various 1.03 flavors, when the AI has the ships to spare. Seems to prefer it, when it can. Combat transports, on the other hand, travel by themselves generally. Just observations from my gaming experience with GalCiv.

I don't trust the research stats... I am VERY stingy with my research. I never trade any of it, or sell it, unless I'm very desperate. I'll generally get research stats that say: 90 discovered 130 acquired. Having never bought a tech, taken one with military, or traded for a tech, I wonder how I acquired 40 techs? Every tech I have, I researched. So, I've come to believe that stat meant: how many you researched before anyone else, and how many techs you just ended up w

You dropped because the Culture win is the worst kind. It always underscores compared to the other wins. I'm surprised. I just saw my recalcs. Quite an amazing thing as it looks like most game scores just got cut by 100. However, my rank ended up being about the same spot. Makes me wonder what my scores would look like if I had actually CHEESED for score? ;)

I like to laugh when my "fleeted" stacks of 50 and 60 colony ships get attacked, and their attacker just disappears into a puff of vapor. If it was a Dread that attacked, I'll lose 1 to 3 colony ships, tops. Whee!

Version 1.03A.057 Autosave still isn't correctly saving the game. When I resumed the autosave of my previously reported CTD, the last Yor planet was not flipped. My ships were 'unmoved' (not where they had moved to on my turn). AI had moved. Net result was I lost my previous turn. It would be nice if the manual Save and the autosave yielded the same save game quality. As Save and Autosave yield different results in what is actually saved and what isn't, it is surprisin

Version 1.03A.057 CTD: I had culture flipped the last Yor world. On the same turn, I decided to look at the known stats of the Yor(Stats tab under the Foreign Section). Immediate CTD. This issue should be addressed. Since it is legal to engage in diplomacy with the culturally vanquished, it should be legal to look at their known stats as well. ;) [Message Edited]

I have figured out how to always have better population then the AI, early game. Try one game with a very nice PQ earth. (Control N it, people). When you start playing, set your tax rate to 0. Your pop will stay WAY ahead of the computers, until such time that you have to crank up the taxes and crank down that 100% spending... ;) So, by repeating our experiment (incrementing our tax rate by 1 each time) with very low tax rate, we can find the level the computer is using for his
