Solops, they are already mucking with the game. Interstellar, dead on! Alzandrion, that's an issue we've discussed earlier. So far, in my games, I'm seeing the SB Maintainence issue simply KILLING the AI. The AI is horrid with starbases, and this is just making it worse. I thought the point of the 'Star Base Issue' was to improve the game's fun, not destroy it. Come on, Star Dock! You got some concerns with star bases, just name them so we can discuss how to a

Here here! These are all great suggestions!
Er... people have reported building multiple items via purchase in the social queue. There seems to be a little something odd associated with doing so, but it can be done for the human. There is still an odd bug out there where the AI can build uniques multiple times. I've had 2 different major AIs build the same wonder within a few turns of each other. That's a bug, not an intentional cheat.
When playing the game, hit esc. At the top, it should say the major version of the game. (ie, 1.03) If you have Star Dock Central installed, it will tell you the major and minor version of the game.
The scouts costing 1 maintence got me thinking... Do you feel Stardock should be spending its time trying to reduce the 'cheese' tactics in GalCiv, or do you feel its time would be better spent on other issues? This is just a single player game after all. So if a player uses a 'cheese' tactic, aren't they just 'cheating' themselves? Maybe I like to build 'dead zones' to defend my side of the universe. Should SD be spending it's limited time and resources changing GalCiv so that
And in mid to late game, 1 maintenence is nothing. Now, at the start, that 1 maintenence is huge...
Yeah, now players just use Freighters, Transports, and Colony Ships to make zero cost walls/rings.
Vorlin, that is what I've read here as well.
Don't like culture bombs? Don't use them. Simple.
Sorry, that's military queue item. 'Trade Goods' mean a particular thing in GalCiv, and I did not mean 'Trade Good' as a unique monopoly item that is buildable only once.
Vorlin, it isn't star base sleeze at the core of this issue. It's wasted production. If you could set sliders based on GOVERNORS, the infinite constructors rolling off the line would cease. Why? Players would set the majority of their worlds to a governor with 0 Military production, while their core ship building worlds rolled out whatever they needed for home defense, (new) home repossession, ships for trade/sell/strengthing partners, or strategic star base improvement. A simp
The cultural and diplo issues are very big deals to me. Their is very little more aggravating to me then the fact that this game *cannot* restore a game. When you load a 'saved game' it isn't the game you left. Between the diplo that triggers off, your culture being harmed, it just sucks. It encourages players that do not have enough time to play straight through to either play a smaller setting with less worlds, or just not play at all. Star Dock has zero excuses for not being able to
I think you should: * Have zero cost for SB maintence. It doesn't matter what the costs are in mid and late game, but any costs hurts the early game. Particularly the AI. I'm on my 3rd 1.03A game now, and so far, whichever Major race LOST the resource rush, wins. All because their early economy isn't crippled from grabbing resources. * Fix the wasted resource issue. The only reason everyone is building constructors like crazy is that a SB is much more valuable a 0 cost maintenc
I've seen them. They are rarer on their own now. They seem to be spawning about the same from the Space Zoo.
When I was playing the lower levels, I found that making the Drengin my first trading partner kept them on good enough terms with me that I didn't have to worry about them messing with me, until I became a 'Saint'. Something to keep in mind...
I've made use of the +1% repair before, but only needed it once. Many games ago, I got into an early defensive war over a sector with 3 resources in it. Two AI and I were determined to keep our resources (and take the others). Sticking a +1% repair module on my resource base was the only way to get my ships in that sector to be able to repair. (The system had no stars, and was 3 sectors away from any systems with ANY worlds whatsoever.) It was slow, but at least they started repairing.
Humm... Well, I have noticed that the Drengin seem to be able to bully better then I would expect. In a recent game I played, they bullied two minor AIs into handing over tech, based purely, AFAICT, on the strength of their Survey craft alone (they had only scouts from pop ups, and colony ships left ofter from the yellow sun rush, at the time). There are a few things that the AI can do that you cannot. But then, there are lots you can do that the AI cannot. AIR, on any
A new minor civ is not an immediate new world for the humans. I've seen the AI *IMMEDIATELY* dispatch an attack AND invasion force to take the new minor. Personally, I tend to either give them some military to defend themselves (and allow me to gain a new trade partner that I don't have to worry about if someone decides to War on me), or I race the AI to invade them and take the world. It just depends on the particulars of the game. If you are the only one trying to invade them
I'd be happy with a few PQ +5% scattered out along the tech tree. Could prove useful to both me and the AI, and it seems a long haul from the initial PQ +20 to the Terraforming. At least, for how I play.
The sliders value is determined by comparing it to the other two sliders. Slide all three sliders to the top, and you get 34/33/33. Slide social DOWN from there, and you get 50/0/50 (M/S/R). The sliders are the 'proportion' of your spending. If you want to spend 75% on Military, 0 on Social, and 25% on Research, you put the Military slider to the top, Social to the bottom, and adjust the Research slider to the 25% point. Wasted production/money refers to the fact that
I've had the fundie event 4 times. Never while I was evil. Although after the first time it popped up, I wasn't as willing to play evil for a few games. ;) I've seen the Fundie event wipe out both the Drengin and Yor Twice and wipe out Drengin and hurt the Yor twice. That's right, I've never seen the Drengin survive the Fundie Creation. Luck of the RNG I suppose...
You also have to put in your CD key into the SDC. Otherwise it will not show the updates to the GalCiv.
Actually, my last two games, an AI has beat me to Gravity Accels. So I buy them off of him. And so far, it has been cheaper then rush building it myself.
To talk to the I-League, you need to scroll your main map to the I-League world. Then you click on the I-League star, and select 'Talk To' button in the right hand side window where it gives all the stats and planet listings.
The exploration/expansion phase of the game could be lengthened just by not letting the AI know where all the yellow stars are to begin with. If they had to go exploring for yellow stars like the human player, it would force the AI scan the Universe sooner, build scouts, and hence have a better ranged vision. This would also lead to the AI having a better knowledge of where the resources are, as it has been pushing to find all the yellow/purple stars just as hard as the human, and therefore it h
