I certainly don't think the same promotion path is best for every hero, but I do think you will end up with cookie cutter builds. I guess a lot of people really hated the randomized promotions, but I never found I had any problems making good heroes....there was always a couple good things to pick. I really prefer the randomized method, but it seems I'm in the minority?

My initial thoughts on LH after having played a while with the 0.80 build. I like Heroes are acquired via Fame now. I haven't quite decided if I like the timing of the heroes arrival, maybe it would be nice to have some randomization to when they show up so you didn't always KNOW a certain building was going to net you a hero. I don't like The swarm mechanic....it is too easy to abuse. It i
I just started playing the beta a bit, and I too noticed the "swarm" mechanic seems to allow the bigger team in a fight to snowball a win really quickly if they have the numbers or the initiative. The mechanic seems too powerful, but I completely admit I have to play a bit more to get a feel for it. My initial thoughts are that the AI isn't going to use it as effectively as the player allowing it to be an easily abused mechanic. Maybe just have a simple "flanking" bonu
MOO2 & CIV4BtS for me as well. Two games that just kept bringing me back again and again over the years.
Where is the black market in Sins? Like seriously, where are those infinite stores of metal and crystal? Hehe...I asked a couple times during the early expansions for an option to turn off the black market, or make it a purely closed market where you could only buy what had been sold into the market. I think it would have added an interesting strategic element to the game. Of course, it would have completely screwed anyone who couldn'
I'm suspect the original poster will find the 3 month delay on these last two posts informative.
There are no campaigns in Rebellion or the original Sins, it is essentially a "skirmish" only game -- you CAN set up maps that are pretty epic in scope and take several sittings to play through. The game builds on the original in the sense that Rebellion contains all of the features of the original while adding new ones, but does not include the original game. There isn't much reason to play the original once you have Rebellion, unless you specifically dislike new features,
The Vorastra Maw ability can be largely countered by just splitting your carriers up into a bunch of little groups. Yeah, it is a pain in the butt, but the Vorastra has no way to counter carriers all over the place..before long it will have to flee or die since it can't outrun bomber spam. Also, the Vorastra is slow to turn and aim...even when I have jumped it right into perfect position to get some carriers, often it will refuse to lock on in time before they can move o
Wow, I didn't know the first 3 publishers all declared bankruptcy on you...thought it was just the first.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for Chris and GPG, but I'd have to agree that the setting of their IP does not appeal to me that much either. The mechanics they want to implement and the hybrid nature of the game look interesting, and I'm sure the gameplay will be good -- but I think they have limited themselves a bit. Not saying every game should be a high fantasy knockoff or giant fighting robots, but a kickstarter needs to really capture the imagination. Hop
Yes, though I consider that to be our fault, not GPG's. That is, per the Gamers Bill of Rights, our retail copies had no copy protection. Gamestop released the game the Friday before Easter and pirates put the unprotected copy and put it up on Bittorrent. This, in turn, grossly overwhelmed our proxy servers (the servers that tell user A how to connect to user . But I'd also argue that the infrastructure should have been able
Did you overlap the edges of the Star's inclusion area? or put them too close to each other? Try moving them farther apart in galaxy forge and see if it works better. This is to solve the problem where the ships have a hard time calculating the jump, I'm guessing the stars might be on a different z axis. Map scale will adjust the actual flight times once jump has occurred.
The HOST has to open/forward port 6112 and 6000 for TCP and UDP and disable Alloy in the Sins game settings. The one caveat is that if the host crashes, the game will try to fail over to the next person in line to become the new host, but if he doesn't have the ports open, everyone will sit there until the failover times out, at which point it will try to fail to the next person in line until it finds someone who has port 6112 open. Pretty much his means that your gam
The early game speed boost was introduced with Alloy. If the host isn't using alloy (meaning he has manually opened the necessary ports on his firewall), you won't see speed boost. Original Sins didn't have speed boost or the faster game setting. Eventually the game will bog down as everyone gets fat fleets, but it makes a huge difference at the beginning of the game.
FTL is a great game and just goes to show there is always room for the little guy to design something we haven't quite seen before.
Well I was on the fence but if GPG is going to be throwing around that kind of disinformation then I definitely won't be supporting any kickstarter of theirs.
The person who had the negative comments in the RockPaperShotgun article has no current affiliation with GPG, they just worked on Demigod, (I think as art director?), so you can't really hold the comments against GPG.
"At the time, we thought we had a real blockbuster on our hands. Our primary competition were the guys doing League of Legends, and the advance press was that we had the more interesting product. Ha! Now those guys own the universe, and nobody’s even heard of Demigod. In the end, our game was hobbled by the publisher, who insisted on handling the networking code on their end, but didn’t have either the time or the manpower to do it
The mention of Shuriken is coincidental. I explained that it was part of your anti-virus search options, it had nothing to do with the malware on your computer. Run the program again, you should see it again if you have the same settings.

I have a screenshot of when the hack was installed in my system and a copy of the file. It really is not the fault of the players. The game needs to be patched properly. In BFME2 there was a trainer file that could be installed to help your units level faster. The devs patched the ga

While I completely admit to not playing much the last 2-3 years, there were never any "trade secrets" that had anything to do with blatant exploits within the game engine. The biggest bug I can think of was how Illuminators over-applied damage and that wasn't a secret, everyone knew Illuminator swarms were the best tactic in the game but no one knew why until JJ demonstrated the bug. The best players just execute faster, have more efficient strategies, and can make better

We go back and forth for a while but he seems to always be outbuilding me and ends up winning. A long time ago I had to point out to someone that if you are constantly reminding people about the time you beat a tier 1 player, but no one else finds it particularly newsworthy to mention the times they beat you, you might not be tier 1. ;)
Kind of funny, this is what a public relations nightmare looks like.
