I'd like to suggest having more tiers. The skill gap between players is to large for 3 tiers. There are players in each tier that can crush others that are in the same tier so this list is very misleading.
You have to take these lists with a grain of salt. They are subjective, rough estimates based on the judgement of other experienced players over many, many games. Some players are good 1v1 (and some aren't!
I think you overestimate them a little. All of them are good, sure. But noone of them are tier 1 players.
I don't think anyone said they are tier 1, but consider how fast they are learning the game. They haven't been playing that long.

There will probably be some niche market for hobby kit pc parts for a long time, but the trend seems to be moving towards completely integrated devices with few upgrade options. Apple is kind of leading the way here, but it does make certain amount of sense for the big manufacturers if they can make better products for cheaper in this manner. Not saying it is better for us, but I can see how it is better for their bottom line.

Vasari really relies on their starbases early game because it is very easy to get overwhelmed. You could possibly make a 2nd capship if you were going to do an early starbase strategy, but for the most part you will need frigates. Just don't fight and lose them all if you are badly outnumbered, instead go to your defenses and fight from there. Vasari are the most challenging to play early game because they run the risk of either being overwhelmed, or bottled up behind th

Multiplayer is all about reacting to what the other player is doing and countering it. Unless you are sheltered in the "econ" spot between frontline allies, you need to be prepared to fight. Frigates provide the most bang for the buck early game before capships level up and have a chance to level the playing field with special abilities. It is pretty common to see fleets of 100 mixed frigates pretty quickly, and if you just have only been building caps, they are going

The other possibility is to play larger multistar maps where you have time to STTC before you have to fight. Just remember you have to snowball fast and keep finding worlds to eat. If you sit around too long, someone with a regular economy will become too strong to attack and you will lose any advantage you might have had.

Your strategy is only going to work if your opponent is bad. Most players, even cautious ones, will see you have no defenses and will attack you. Aggressive players will roll right over you. Your best bet is to probably tie up a defensive chokepoint with a Starbase so you have some time to strip worlds that are farther away from the frontline. This is still probably not a great early game tactic because your economy will drop off as soon as you are out of easy

I think the balance is pretty decent right now, and I play VL quite often. In the past, SttC snowballed pretty fast and was hard to fight against -- it definitely isn't OP anymore, but it is still effective as a scorched earth tactic. When you can't defend everything you consolidate and burn what you would lose and keep your raiding fleet on the move. The VL ability to operate completely as a nomadic civ is still a powerful strategic option that gives them some flexi

If you were playing a game without Quickstart and Faster Resources, it might give you an edge to get a couple extra frigates out or an extra lab up. Part of the advantage is you free up a slot on the HW so you can do something like jump straight to 3 weapon labs and Illuminators as Advent, or maybe 2 Civic labs, 1 Weapon labs for Corvettes + colonization techs, etc. -- you get the idea. And this is assuming you don't plan on building more capships anytime soon. It

There are no invulnerable defenses in Sins...if there were, stalemates would be common. Starbases need to be supported by fleets. Besides, the Loyalist ability to have 2 starbases is pretty huge in other ways than just defense. It allows you to have additional capabilities off of the planet like manufacturing and trade as well as the defensive capabilities of a frontline starbase. Novaliths are also very powerful. Even when a planet is protected by a starbase fro

Yeah, some crazy sales today. Skyrim is 50% off, so if you had been tempted to get it but were holding off because it is so expensive, today is the day.

It means that if the other guy gets one decent world, you have to retreat, but the AR can keep pushing, and if they get another world, you have to retreat again because you can't fight.
Quoting Yarlen, reply 30Yar, origin planet is safe (except for the sacrificed population of course). My idea: Wail = Planet lost Wail + Enduring Devotion = Planet lost but 25 % extra damage for Wail. Just a thought.
Wail is already extraordinarily powerful. If you rush it, you can pretty much neutralize early fleet composition and it can destroy
Well, that's how wail works now, the only thing that happens at the planet where wail was used is the planet is destroyed. All players are safe if they are at this planet in the current implementation. I interpreted that change as meaning that when wail damages ships at all adjacent gravity wells, it will damage all players ships. As it is currently, only enemy ships are damaged by wail.
Ok, thanks for the clarification.

Not quite sure I agree with the change, and I'm a Vasari player that has been on the wrong end of Wail multiple times. I'm mainly an Advent Rebel player, and I think that's going to be an exaggeration. As long as your fleet is at the planet you trigger wail at it is still perfectly safe to use. Maybe a fully upgraded terran

They just launched an indie venture, The Pit. You must know secrets? Yeah, SOTS2 release was a mess. What is worse, even though the game is fixed finally, I just don't like where they took it. It felt like they unnecessarily added complexity to the UI and the interface. Maybe I'm just not as patient anymore. Too bad, because I'm sure there is a good game in there somewhere.

It is disconnects, though one game did have a minidump last week. I'm not even playing much, it just seems like I can't get through a game without everyone lagging and then half the players getting disconnected. I was just playing a 2v2 that was playing fine for 20 minutes or so, then all of the sudden the lag storm started resulting in 2 players disconnecting. The remaining 2 of us had to deal with terrible lag spikes while we tried to finish and hope it cleared up.

There have been many fabulous games over the years. I could have a much larger list with many other great games, but if I had to boil it down to the games that held my attention for the largest amount of time: DOS Age Vintage: ------------------------- Ultima IV & V Starflight Pirates Civilization Master of Orion Master of Magic Windows Age: ------------------------- Master of Orion 2 Everqu
