I would guess they'll go with a side notification system like FELH or Civ 5 have, which is kind of the newer way of doing event notification, and which I personally like a lot. Or some hybrid of that and classic GTN, or options for a mix, or....nvm. In GC2 I always wanted an undo feature for ship moves because I'd occasionally misclick and send a ship off into oblivion or something. Since it's turn-based I don't see why something like this wo

GC2 Civ 5 Eador: Masters of blah blah blah I considered Distant Worlds but it's costly to get it plus all xpacs for something that one hasn't tried and isn't sure one will like (not a big fan of real time) and many recommend or say that you really want all xpacs for it. I ended up playing some GC2 instead of throwing down. I mean, yeah, I threw down $100 for GC3 without even thinking,

I'm happy for the switch to hexes too - hexes are vastly superior.
Civ5 hexes had a big flaw: They combined overly large hexes with the concept of one-unit-per-hex.
Maybe they could've scaled it differently and made it even better but I've liked Civ 5 and its hexes since vanilla. I like 1UPT for Civ too. I don't think 1UPT necessarily works in GalCiv but G

The announcement of GalCiv III is amongst the best gaming news I've heard in years and long desired. The fact that Stardock is going 64bit and Dx10+ with it just makes me even more delighted. I'm looking forward to a world class and amazing gaming experience! (And it's about time devs started ditching the 32bit/Dx9 chains). One thing that is repeatedly striking me as I read these forums is that GalCiv II is one of the top space 4X and so ma

Stardock have been one of the few to try to use tech to all its capacity in previous games so I'm really excited to see what kid of deviousness and epicness they come up with for GC3 with it being 64 bit and Dx10+. I'd also say it's about time that SOMEONE started doing 64bit only. I've seen one other game mentioned recently that's also going to be 64bit required. There must be others but I follow a lot of gaming sites/news and don't recall seeing the

Since the game isn't done or even in alpha, they probably don't know system specs other than 64bit and dx10+ required. Your i5's integrated graphics may support Dx 10 - you'd have to look that up (or figure it out on your laptop). Once reason they're doing 64bit is to be able to use more RAM for AI and map sizes and you don't mention how much RAM you have - sometimes laptops are a bit lean for that even when they're win7-64.

Thank you, Stardock! Finally! I'm really excited to see what insanity you guys are able to come up with using 64bit only. I could care less about CGI trailers and even less about multiplayer - but all around...YES! I've been playing GC2 lately and had just lamented about lack of GC3 on the forums just the other day... Best gaming news in a long, long time.

It's kinda hard to say since there's no clear indication of how much DLC or how many xpacs there could be - but this is StarDock. Base game will be 50 (preorder now for 40). Alpha/beta access is neato. There will likely be multiple DLCs. Saying expacs will be 20 is...a wild guess since SD's xpacs are usually substantial and probably higher priced. 100 seems like a fair price to me. I'm not one to b

No thanks. Steam > all. I used to be against steam but now I'm a big fan. Why deal with anything inferior when you can deal with the best? I would say I'm surprised that people STILL dislike Steam, but I used to be that way, so whatever floats your misguided boat. You'll come around eventually. :P

This is an old thread and I was hoping to find a fix...dread lord event just crashed my game and if memory serves, it always has for ages now. Not the end of the world since I have autosave set to every turn for crash recovery purposes, but it does mean this event can never happen.

- less cheesy industry/sci model (never liked how you could shift them and/or just build all factories and use them for research with no real penalty). I think the system itself is pretty slick but it could use some improvements to make industry and sci a little less interchangeable. - I've made this comment forever and it applies to other stardock games. Make the ESC key work correctly! ESC should close the most recently opened window and if NO wi

I'd love to see Stardock to a turn-based tactical of some form with more of a classic feel. XCOM:EU is a good game but it deviates so much from the classic formula that it doesn't quite scratch that classic itch, and most other entries in this field end up being weak, unfinished, buggy, and/or created by companies that are about 1/100th as awesome as SD. But more than anything, I want to see GalCiv 3. GC2 is still one of the best space 4X (with the g

Saying that Stardock of all companies isn't providing value is one of the dumber things a person could ever say. They take care of their customers better than anybody, and continue adding free stuff to games after release better than most, and patch to improve games, not just to make them playable, often by adding entirely new features and at the least lots of tweaks to the game to make it better. My mind is blown. It's a sad day when somebody would dare to critici

Buy directly from developers when possible (so that they get the money) and buy from Steam itself otherwise (sometimes you can get steam keys for less from reputable sources and sometimes you run into scam sites that want to infect your pc with viruses and steal your children...why screw around and take chances). I used to hate Steam but now I love it and I buy most of my games thru it. I prefer to buy directly from developers when possible so that they get t

I often put 2 heroes in an army for periods of time, not for the uber, since it usually isn't, but moreso to get some xp for weaker heroes to help make them useful. <

This point kinda bugs me about the current iteration of the heroes system. I would like to see the AI polished more and it's kind of sad that it has to be an after action item to clean up simple stuff like the AI focusing fire for swarm attacks or prioritizing obvious targets. I'm not that great of a player and immediately grasped how ludicrously overpowered the swarm mechanic is - the AI should be locked in to maximizing it like crazy (otherwise it gives the player a ridiculous advantage). You would think that even the most basic testing/pl

I had the same thought (that you could build groups of 3 and upgrade to 6 for gildar only and save a ton of resources...150g vs 3x the metal, crystal, etc would be pretty huge savings) but haven't tried it yet - I tend to not exploit either. I'm guessing it can be done since that's how the unit size upgrades work.

Sounds like your computer needs help, you SHOULD be concerned, because if a game this solid is crashing that much your PC could have a serious problem. I've had 1 or 2 CTDs and probably helped those by running mp3's while playing and/or alt tabbing incessantly. I haven't really noticed any bugs (and I'm a bit hypercritical about stuff like that as a coder myself).
