Please let me say, that I just bought the game and am very impressed with the design team's commitment to making it a great one. The fact that the designers frequent these boards, and take suggestions seriously, is a sign of uncommon greatness. I have only seen this in 1-2 other places, in my humble experience with other games, so keep up the great work! Kudos to the helpful nature of the community as well! I couldn't get anywhere without all of your help :)

I have seen a few references to 100M colonists being ideal for a Class 15 world. My questions: 1. Is this based on experience or is there a chart somewhere? And yes, I have seen Class 15 as a good starting point, but nowhere do I recall seeing an ideal # of people. 2. What happens once the population starts increasing on their own beyond 100M? Will morale take a nose dive? Thanks!

Diplomacy Screen, Very Minor suggestion Keep proposed items on the table to a failed deal. When you offer a bunch of stuff for a bunch of stuff, and the deal just needs a bit of tweaking, it is tedious to have to enter in all the stuff on both sides all over again. Just a minor thing, but after hours of enjoyable playing from this superior product, it adds up :)

Computer AI Difficulty Enable it's maximum thinking (Geninus) but give players a way to disable it's production bonuses. If necessary, disable Metauniverse scoring then, too. Why? All my life, I have looked for a strategy game where the computer actually thinks competitively. The reason I bought GalCiv over MOO3, is that much was made about that here, and so far, this game may come closest to achieving that goal. However, if I understand correctly, at the 2 t

First, thanks so much for that analysis! I have been looking for an intelligent computer component forever. I don't suppose there is anyway to keep the computer at genius but disable the economic bonuses it gets, is there? If anyone knows I would be extremely grateful. It seems you still can't play with a genius computer that doesn't cheat :) (if I understood the above analysis correctly...)

I am thoroughly confused. At one point, on a small map, early in the game, I was bringing in a gross revenue of 21 (b4 costs). Now with 4 planets, much more population on each, and a host of economic improvements, like banks and economic exchanges, and a better govt (federation)I am only obtaining 16 gross. How can that be? (Remember, this is before costs, so nothing like maintenance, UN 3% taxes, or espionage should be affecting the gross rate). NOTE: I have playe

Diplomacy Assistance Something that tells you if you are close to a deal would be nice. For instance, in Civ3, your advisor tells you if a proposal is outlandish or not. Esp as a newbie :) I am unsure how much certain items of mine are worth vs. others... thanks!

I'm not sure if this is appropriate for here or a tech support section, but here goes... The sound is wonderful on my system except when I go to the diplomacy screens. Their wonderful music background is interrupted, are regular intervals, by a static or pause that lasts a second and then the music returns, and the cycle repeats...

Thanks again. So, is there a way to make it "think" the most intelligently without adding in "cheats"? In other words, the computer AI tends to think better at higher levels of AI. Yet, you say it also gets bonuses for the top 2 AI levels. Does it think as well at the top third AI level as it does at the very top AI, but without the cheat bonuses? THANKS!

Is there a way to edit our responses once they are posted? If not, I respectfully request they enable that (and add a search function :) BTW, although I have been told you cannot search these forums, I find you can unofficially search by going to Internet Explorer's "EDIT" and "FIND" functions...

First, thanks very much for the answers! Second, I am brand new to the game, and don't yet know what Star Cartography is. Does that mean the computer always knows where your units are and what the map looks like? (I hope not. When I read reviews about this revolutionary AI, I was really hoping the computer wouldn't cheat to stay ahead...) Third, I am glad to hear that! I always wanted to play a game where my computer opponents "think" better at higher levels not cheat wit
